I would have to say either Dark Angels or Ultramarines. 

Ultramarines are a fun faction in that they are simple, and the ability for everyone to be able to fall back out of combat and still shoot is really nice for a gun line. 

Dark Angels have the advantage of better overwatch (which lends itself well to a take and hold style of play), and with three sub-factions in one book you have lots of different ways to play. Which I think lends itself well to the longevity of an army. 

No. I don't think I will sir.

A kill team event might be fun.....

I would say, your first question should always be "what is more important to me: winning, or everyone having fun." Because if you want to win all your games, then bring soup and who cares what you bring. But if you favor everyone having a good time, don't bring soup. Don't nitpick about efficiency, or "what's best in slot". Scribble something out using the "rule of cool" and start working on the hobby part of OFCC prep. 

But that's my two cents.

TL;DNR: the problem isn't knights, the problem is frankenarmies. 

Long version: It was indeed out last year. The Knight codex introduced the castellan, and the mini knights. I brought a four Knight list last year, and I think we had five fun games....

The issue with knights isn't knights, it's how they are supported. A single codex Knight army is tough, but not unstoppable. But knights in an Imperial soup army.... That's another animal. 

When I plan to play my Knight army, I always consider if I want to play solo or combined arms. If I'm playing combined arms, then I leave the castellan at home in favor of either a paladin or an errant. A lone paladin and or errant is just enough to make it interesting, but not enough to overwhelm. 

In a solo codex army,  a lone castellan supported by smaller knights isn't too bad. Multiple castellan chassis knights would be overwhelming I think. 

But then again, it really depends on your opponent. 

Does this mean I will be fighting some Orks in the near future?

I kind of want this set. Damn.

I don't understand that statement. How could there be people in the world who have not seen Short Circuit?

This was my first OFCC, and I have to idea how I have been missing it all these years. 

I guess I was so shell-shocked from ITC events that I didn't want anything to do with tournaments of any stripe. But alas, it turns out that Vonvilkee was right, it was a tournament in format only. I had a blast and I can't wait to go back next year. 😄 

I had a game where my Knights ran around the table chasing a Skaven assassin (it was a conversion) and just couldn't hit it. Eventually, the assassin charged my most wounded Knight and killed it; while also surviving the resulting explosion. It was all the things at once. 😄

Nope. When the first Knight Codex came out in 6th edition, I went a little crazy and bought three. But I didn't know how to paint them. When I was at the GW store in Portland lamenting this conundrum someone suggested "Creamsicle Knights!" And lo! It turned out to be a scheme I really, really like. 😄 

If it makes your heart sing, then go for it!

I guess it would depend on how many Knights you like to run. If you only plan on running one or two, then no, I don't think there is a good reason to buy an additional book. However, if you would like to run three or more, then yes. I think it would be well worth it. 

Up here in Bellingham we are ringing in the new edition with a slow grow league. And there has been a lot of positive response! So far we have 19 people signed up so far, and I'm pretty sure more people or going to join as soon as the new boxed set drops.

I know I'm pretty stoked for the new edition. I always enjoyed AoS, but I always had a hard time finding games in Portland. I'm looking forward to starting Beastclaw Raiders and tossing some dice. 😄

Hello everyone! I'm Will, otherwise known as Sugarlessllama. This will be my first OFCC, and I am super excited about it. For my first organized event of 8th edition, I will be unveiling my Imperial Knight army. I have been working on it for a while since they were first released in 6th edition in fact. 🙂 And with the release of the first new Imperial Knight kits since 6th edition, I think I am finally ready to run an entire army consisting entirely of big stompy robots.

Hey guys!

Age of Sigmar Second Edition is going to be dropping next month, and I thought it would be fun to do a Tale of Four Warlords/Path to Glory campaign for it. 

The campaign would last June through September, and end in Triumph and Treachery style multiplayer battle. 

Anyone interested?

I'm planning on coming on down to Dark Tower. Anyone interested in some 40K? About 75 power?

I do indeed live in Bellingham, and I am usually free Tuesday evenings. I can come out and play. What time? I usually get off work around 4:30 pm, so I can get to Dark Tower about 5:30ish. :D

So I have finally made the permanent move to lovely Bellingham! Score! 

Now I have to ask, who is interested in regular games of 40K and AoS? I tend to veer towards the narrative side of the game and have a soft spot in my heart for long-running lore based campaigns. :)
