We need @Hodor to work his spreadsheet magic like he did with Necromunda: Dark Uprising...

I'm not planning to split this, but per Ish's request here is something to work with.  The only solid price that I know of is the Rulebook (with a different cover) selling for $65.  It pushes the price down for everything else quite low.  I leave it to individual groups to discuss what to do about that (It is available on Ebay for $37...)

This also does not account for shipping, sales tax, and/or the extras that GW is providing for ordering direct.

  2. Just in case you have more time than money (arguable since it seems like your friend will be doing it and not you), you can just buy basic cheap bubble wrap, tape, and wads of paper.  Basically make snowballs of bubble wrapped figures, toss them into a box and fill around the outside edges with wads of paper or packing peanuts/more bubble wrap if you have enough.  I regularly ship painted stuff on ebay packed like this and no one has complained.  I've also received items that way.  I also did the same shipping things via container ship from South Korea to Oregon.  Infantry is actually easier to transport safely because each piece is so small and light.  If your army is metal...that's rough and you probably need to split it up into several boxes depending on how big it really is.  The things you are looking out for are 1) no large empty spaces where the figures can bounce around like in a dryer 2) a box that is sturdy enough to be on the bottom of other boxes without collapsing.  If you ship small boxes they will probably put them on top.  If you ship one giant box, they will want to put it on the bottom.  To speed the process, if your stuff isn't competition level painted and is varnished, you can probably get away with bagging 10 guys at a time in a zipper bag and bubble wrapping that.  For the glue...it is easier to just throw it out since you aren't the one packing this...but here is what USPS has to say.  Basically you have to mark it and pack it well.  https://pe.usps.com/text/pub52/pub52apxc_011.htm

  3. This has probably been solved since it is a few months old, but in case it is useful.  Ebay (and others) sell thin 1mm Neodymium magnets.  These could fill the role of the "sheets" you were looking for if you glued a bunch of them on the base.  Could also use a flat bit and drill down just 1-1.25 mm and place the magnets in with minimal disruption to the base or worry about  going all the way through.

  4. Most people with an interest probably know, but in case someone didnt and still wanted some products, I recommend ordering asap.  The warehouse is closed so all orders likely even to distributors is stopped.  I expect a shortage on mundane things like paints and any of the newer release kits.

About two and a half years ago, I found myself loitering near a shop on the fringes of Soho, nervously looking over my shoulder, in case anyone saw me as I went in. When I got home, I hid the stuff I’d bought — the specialist magazines, the equipment — away from my wife. I was indulging in an old, shameful habit; I’d given up decades earlier, but a single taste and I’d fallen back into it.

  6. Just in case anyone is expecting me.  I'm sitting out game nights indefinitely.  My wife is pretty worried about the virus, which might seem paranoid, but she works in long-term care.  If she gets sick, a lot of older people could too, and I can't argue that my entertainment is worth any risk.

I'm not even doing my deliveries which is kind of double edged because I'm sitting at home painting a lot for games that won't happen haha.

I'm not implying that anyone is ill, dirty, or whatever.  Will update if anything changes.

@Hodor has been able to do some teaching games lately, and I think had his finger on the pulse of which 40k players might make it out on Sundays.   Any suggestions H?

Well the newish people I know are @NewPlayer and @CountElmdor.  If either of them are up for it.

A bunch of people are doing sunday necromunda, but @ninefinger is going to know more about who would be open to switching.

Another option is that group of people with whom I have yet to speak, who mostly play 40k amongst themselves, with kids, on Sundays.  I don't mean that negatively only that I saw some posts and dont know much else.

The final answer I have is to offer up gambits cards and hobbies and rainy day games as two places that would have something going on.

It can be any night. As @ninefinger said. If someone wants to have a person willing to run a store's participation contact me, I'll send them everything they need. Missions, tracking, etc. I would just need to know day/time that contact is running at that store (this assumes that person already worked it out with the store for permission of course).

On that note, anyone who knows a contact at a store or group that would like to participate. Please send me a PM soon. Hopefully before Feb 25th so I can coordinate them into the league. We're getting close!

The owner here is probably interested in joining as a host.  I haven't specifically asked him, but he is interested in growing his business and has been fun to speak with on 2 casual visits to lloyd center.  His stock is pretty abysmal (no offense if he is reading this), but I recommend it as another place to hang out and talk 40k.  He does 10% off special orders, so I think that means it is potentially a way to get a pre-order item 10% off and have it in hand on or before launch vs say miniature market/ebay and have it a few days later OR full price at other stores.

New ITC (beta until Feb 28th) missions are up.  Looks exciting with a lot of changes to benefit armies that don't aim to table the opponent outright.  A lot of small but impactful changes such as measuring objective markers from the sides and NO SEIZE THE INITIATIVE.

  10. I'm not committed to being there Saturday at any particular time, but if you are still confused just message/reply and at minimum I could do a video call with cards.  I've been selling off underworlds regularly and only have some stuff left, but it is enough to explain a lot of it.

Thanks DT. Yeah, I prefer a closer game with exciting twists and a good challenge. Some of the objective based missions look to have really interesting mechanics. This escalation format sounds like a great way to learn and build an army too. I’d better decide on a faction soon and start painting.

I had to ask because in reading online about which factions have which play styles there’s always someone commenting that they’re bottom tier and they’ll always lose to stuff like “triple T9 chaos knight iconoclasts” or “yet another Brohammer Space Marine Brick list”.

Hodor, that would be awesome if I could play a game or two with yours, with you or other folks. Necrons were one of the armies I was looking at, but plenty of others interest me too. I can make any Sunday so let me know how best to meetup, etc.

I could probably do this sunday or next fine.  Not sure how you feel about the superbowl, but I have no plans around it.

I will look over things and assemble a 1000 point Necron list to do a learning game.  Necrons have some of the easiest stats to learn but very little customization in rules or models out of the box.  One of the cheaper armies at the moment through a combination of low rules support (double edged there), under-selling boxes from apocalypse/holiday bundles, and a good start collecting (but not one you really want more than 1-2 of).

There are rumors suggesting something big coming lore/model wise.  Not totally crazy since they were mentioned a lot in january white dwarf for no obvious reason.

Yeah, i'd love this! If you're not needing the sprue, you can put it in a bag and leave it at the club sometime. I'd happily pick it up on a game night. You can mark it with my name (Matt). No rush either, so you can wait until you have a large quantity, or do 2 drop offs. Just make it easy for yourself.

I will bring sprue to tomorrow's warcry event and ask jeff where to leave it in case you aren't around.

Btw, if anyone had just SPRUE they don't want. I'd happily collect it. Looking to make some scatter terrain and bits just filler stuff from it.

Not a big deal, but figured game night might be a good ask for it.

I've been building a lot of Zone Mortalis terrain and theoretically recycling a lot of sprue.  (It goes in the bin but Im not even sure it is truly recyclable locally).  Anyway, I still have a pile of it upcoming.  Could provide up to 16 more or less immediately and another 10 later.
