Norrad
Looking to get into Team Yankee. I just can't get my creative juices around FOW. Maybe it's just too real! But I really like the idea of Team Yankee (Red Dawn). Anybody locally playing Team Yankee?
fingolfen
I've got the US and Soviet boxed sets, my Soviets are... well, coming along sort of... I'm probably a couple of months out from getting something on the table that's not bare plastic, but I can try to cobble some comrades together. Justjokin
I've got the US starter kit, and a full set of Zvesda t-72s and BTR-80's to proxy for my soviets for now. Painting is slow going, but they don't have to be finished to get a game in. That being said... I have yet to play! I did find my old Twilight 2000 books for inspiration. I'm pretty unsure of what I want to do for terrain yet. The 80's are kind of boring compared to 40K or Infinity... I don't have the A-10's yet, but I did find some 1/144th F-15 Strike Eagle models that might do for now.
barca
I have a small force for both sides, all BF 15mm. Soviet: 10 Soviet T-72 tanks fully painted. Plus 2 painted Hind helos. USA: 6 M1 tanks and 2 cobras, ready to go. Played 3 games with ZeroMoon17. But he is prob unavailable for the next few weeks. Can run through a demo and short game with you on Saturday 3/5. If so, need 48 hrs to reserve a table and get confirmation @ GG. If another date suits better, then plz suggest. I usually go to GG, but could meet up in other game store in the 'Couv or PDX area. Need a 4'x6' table with terrain. GG has terrain we can borrow. For other locations, I would have to call/email ahead. Most of my terrain is in storage. Frogfoots on the way. BMP's on hand, but not painted. Fing, If ur interested, you can come,as well. Much like FoW, but streamlined. Air is very different. Not overpowering, but very diff from FoW air. When we get more air and the ADA, then will be a true 3D battlefield.
barca
As an option, some guys on forum discussed using same rules, but with micro armor 6mm, 1/285 or 1/300 scale. http://www.ordofanaticus.com/index.php?/topic/27178-going-smallmodern-armor-1285th/?hl=yankee
ZeroMoon17
I have a US starter set painted up and ready to roll. Still waiting on my VADS box to show up though...
Josh
I have two of the Soviet starter boxes now. I'm not really sure how I want to proceed, but I know I want BMPs and SPAA.
barca
Depends on how u like to get started. If you want to jump in quickly, then add a platoon/company in cycles, then one starter kit is enough to get you on the table. If you don't have a play style in mind, yet, then borrow or proxy to represent your dream force. that way, your time and money investment will be focused on what you will use. For example, you get artillery, then discover its not for u, then wasted investment, unless you proxy/borrow first. You will need a US player, but several on this thread, including me. The size(points) and mix of forces of your US opponent might also be a factor in your approach If u want more starter box, assemble escalation lists and compare notes with US players. For example, I have 55 pts, US. If you want to start at next level, paint up sov starter box, and... Get one box of BMP's, assemble them as BMP-2's, then use primarily as scout platoon, second as air defense. The auto cannon on BMP-2 should be better than tank MG's for that, at least against helos. Plus, Scout platoon gets u spearhead deployment. Either option should be good start. For Soviets, MY opinion is that a sov tank company of less than 6 tanks does not survive long enough to do much Good. So you eventually might want 13 or more tanks: 1 HQ 6 tanks in each company 2 hind helos
barca
I think for a new game/rules set, your biggest limiting factor will be opponents. To get that jump-started, then an escalation league might be a good idea. We would need a minimum of 8 gamers to get started, since I expect turnover/attrition, or some gamers with limited availability.

Josh
I came up with a list last night while I was hanging out at the bar while my girlfriend did her homework (we have no internet at home). HQ: T-72 6 T-72 6 T-72 4 Shilka 4 Gophers BMP2s Company (2 Platoons) 2 Scout BMP2s 4 Hinds 100 points. Little bit of everything.
barca
Great list. Now if someone will step forward with 100 pts US... I plan on doing a Team Yankee demo at Enfilade! this year. http://nhmgs.org/enfilade!.html Your list looks similar to what I had in mind for Soviets to Demo. When I have details of demo confirmed, will post on Ordo.
