Missions were selected to be as front-loaded with forces as is possible. It is highly recommended that you practice with these parameters: your army missions listed battle area (4x5) FoW Official rules, plus the latest Lessons From the Front. No house rules. time constraints (setup=20, battle=120) Recommended Max Time per player's half of each turn: 10 minutes. Points value is non-negotiable. 1150 points or less, not more. barca Posted January 9, 2017 Author Report Posted January 9, 2017 QUES: Why not go with the BF "Points Totals For The 2017 Tournament Season" (EW = 1650 points)?http://www.flamesofwar.com/Default.aspx?tabid=57&art_id=1933ANS: In 2016, many people asked for a fast game format tournament. In 2016, we did not get to do that. When the time came around for the next EW tournament, that seemed like a good opportunity to try this format.I looked at other fast tournaments, and saw many armies being played in EW at 1125 pts. I spec'd out some lists and settled on 1150 points, to get an average of 4-5 platoons.QUES: Why battle area of 4'x5'?ANS: 4x6 seemed to have too many large holes for the defender, at 1150 points. Also, I wanted the forces to close quickly to get done in 120 minutes or less.4x4 seemed to not have enough space for flank maneuvers, so I compromised on 4x5. 1 Quote
ZEKE Posted January 9, 2017 Report Posted January 9, 2017 I plan on attending. Gotta get to work on a list. Quote
Josh Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 We've done 1000 point tournaments on 6x4 tables down here. We didn't really have any problems with the table size. Actually, it was pretty refreshing to be able to maneuver without getting mauled immediately. 1 Quote

barca Posted January 10, 2017 Author Report Posted January 10, 2017 Any support for and ideas on pre- or post tournament meal and social event? Quote
Noland Posted January 11, 2017 Report Posted January 11, 2017 Concur on the table size to force. It allows for maneuver and creative employment of forces. Conclusion at 2000 is going to be a long day with four hours of driving. You might consider rolling deployment into the 120 minutes of game time to buy back an hour. With a small 1100 point force, game play should be quick and decided in about 90 minutes. Quote
barca Posted January 11, 2017 Author Report Posted January 11, 2017 Another way to get an hour back is: Everyone bring their own food so we cut lunch time to 30 min. + Deployment time is 10 min. Combined, that reduces tourny time by 60 min. 1 Quote

barca Posted January 30, 2017 Author Report Posted January 30, 2017 State your preference for Lunch source and length of break: A. Bring your own lunch, break for 30 min. B. Buy lunch locally, break 1 hour Some out-of-towners would like to get done earlier than originally scheduled. If majority of responders choose "A", I will change the schedule. Quote
ZEKE Posted January 31, 2017 Report Posted January 31, 2017 I Suck at bring my own lunch. I usually don't have anything available to bring. I will probably go get a shwarma so I prefer the 1 hour. Quote
taran.shannara Posted February 6, 2017 Report Posted February 6, 2017 I'm in with Japanese. Doesn't matter to me on lunch format. Quote
barca Posted February 6, 2017 Author Report Posted February 6, 2017 Don't want anyone to go hungry for such a long day, so 1 hr lunch However, good suggestion on reducing setup time to 10 min. Will adjust schedule. Quote
Noland Posted February 7, 2017 Report Posted February 7, 2017 To get a full ride to Enfilade, I will have to pass on this event. Good luck to those who will fight the Early War struggle. Quote
barca Posted February 15, 2017 Author Report Posted February 15, 2017 reduced setup time, from 20 min to 10. Reduced overall time by 30 min. Kept lunch at 1 hr Awards finish at 7:30 PM Terrain should be put away by 8 PM. Quote
fingolfen Posted February 15, 2017 Report Posted February 15, 2017 Pencil me in for the Black Brigade - I'll have to re-jigger the list, but it'll be fun... :D Quote
ZEKE Posted February 18, 2017 Report Posted February 18, 2017 Count me in for German Fallschirmjager. Will also be open to "Death From Above" mission if anybody else is up for it. Barca, sent you my list in a PM. Quote
