  1. My initial reaction to my reaper bones was indeed...cheaper than I had hoped. However, I did get a huge amount of figs and for D&D games or the like, they are just fine. The ones I have seen in the store in blisters appear to be slightly better quality. So it could simply be that the quality for the kickstarter orders was simply less than normal due to the huge quantities they had to process. At least that is what I'm hoping. Reviews I have seen on web sites for the retail product have been quite decent.

  2. No, his reasoning is not sound. That rule clearly states when synapse has to be checked. It then lists units that are exempt. He's taking that and trying to adjust the timing. That isn't sound at all.

When does it occur: At the start of the turn

Who does it affect:  any that are outside of synapse range unless...coming in from reserve.

You can't take that "coming in from reserve" and decide that it now changes the timing of synapse check.

  3. Just started to read that article, and already the author is making a huge assumption about timing with no support whatsoever. He claims that you come in from reserves before testing for synapse. It could just as easily be argued that you check at the start of your turn, just like it says to, and then when reserves come in, they don't have to check, just as it says. But instead, he makes a huge leap and claims that this:

“At the beginning of each of your turns, all Codex: Tyranids units with this special rule that are outside of the synapse range of any friendly Synapse Creatures (see below) must take a Leadership test unless they are: engaged in combat, falling back, have gone to ground or arrived from reserve this turn.”

changes the timing of the check until after reserves have arrived. Sorry, but no. And that happens at the start of the article. Right there his credibility is shot and the rest of the article is ignored.

  4. So I did a few more guys using brush on primer..which really sucked...and then I dipped them:

So left to right: hand painted guy, no dip. base coat + strong tone AP dip. base coat + walnut minwax. base coat, minor drybrush highlights + strong tone AP.

I then went back and touched up the helmets on the AP dipped guys to brighten those up.

My wife liked the guy on the far right the best..so looks like I have a paint scheme. :)

  5. Angry? no. He made a post where he made his gf cry over his gif and then he got upset that she cried. To which he asked if he was wrong. I was simply answering him. Also, how do you know that they didn't put tacks in that dogs feet, and that's why he's hopping around like that. You sick bastard. :)

  6. Yeah, okay, I'm so glad I don't get comics anymore. love how they just make up [big bad swear word] now to justify the storyline. While I know that is the bread and butter of comics to some extent, that is just total bull[big bad swear word] that now the Hulk just morphs to survive whatever environment he's in. In other words, the writers of that issue couldn't come up with a good way to keep him breathing in space and didn't want him defeated so easily so they come up with a total crap explanation.

So to finish my example of why Sups would win, once the hulk is in space and floating with no means of propulsion, sups takes his time and eventual hits hulk in the direction of the sun.

But of course, I suppose the hulk can survive in the sun now because his body would mutate....

  7. Superman flies around hulk at super speed creating a tornado to scoop hulk up in the air, then he flies under the hulk, using his superbreath to push him out into space where the hulk suffocates. End of battle.

  8. Huh? I have never, ever seen one instance where GW has referred players to a FAQ for a previous book. When GW once cared about such things, they would even remove the old FAQ from the web site as soon as the new book was released. There is no precedence at all of using an old FAQ for a new book. That is a bit boggling how you came to that conclusion. Even more so that you then only want to apply some of the FAQ items and not all.

  9. @Ando, the intent of the poll was not to determine if allies were desired. It was assumed they would be in.

@pro-allies people, Allies is an optional rule for 40K. I'll repeat...Allies is an optional rule in 40K. Just like fortifications and Lords of War. Are both of those allowed in the OFCC? Will we see stompas and baneblades on the table? My point being, once you allow one optional rule in, where does it stop? I would think that it would be far simpler to manage lists and match ups when you don't have to deal with them.

My observance of allies being used in 40K has been to plug weaknesses in a list, or to create synergies otherwise unattainable by a single codex list. As the OFCC is more of a "fun" over "win" style event, this would coincide with that philosophy.

I have nothing against allies. If my friend and I were setting up a game and spoke about it ahead of time, then I'm fine with them being used.

But if I'm organizing an event, I would look at all optional rules to determine if they should be in it or not. I think the cons against allies is that they allow a specific army to negate built in weaknesses and allow for stronger lists. The pros for allies is that it creates more army options for players. My opinion is that for the OFCC, I'd rather not have allies as I think their cons outweigh the pros in that specific setting.
