That's fair, none of us have. I'm just basing it off the idea that there is a twin heavy bolter fixed to each side of a square, immovable fortification.

The fact that the shots are increased in the rule tells me it prolly gets half shots all around but pumps both barrels into overwatch.

If the barrel doesn't move then it's not the part you use to measure your move distance.

Looks goofy but you could plan the tank movement to reduce the rotational movement of the turret... All tanks need turret off to the side about 45 degrees

I like it. Makes you think twice about throwing that valuable character into the fray right out of the gate.

Or just be careful with the placement to limit the number of models in support range... Half inch will be limiting...

This article doesn’t go into detail on how you “get those CP refunded,” instead teasing us that they’ll reveal it in a future update. On the other hand, we already know that the detachment with your Warlord in it gets its CP cost refunded, so a Imperial/Renegade Knight Faction army shouldn’t had any problems.

The CP refund for the warlord was printed on the command benefits section of other detachments... I suspect the Titanic knights will expand the special rule of their character status to give the refunds. This will have interesting impacts on other Lords of war

With progressive scoring and four objectives, it’s gonna be hard to cover that with only two units and a hero. Although the mission description mentions that you can choose secondary objectives, so, potentially there’s something in there that would help even the odds...

But, whatever, it looks like great fun!

You don't have to cover... Just own and move on! Focus on their speedy stuff with shooting engage the slower stuff cut it apart! The mission expects lower unit counts, I was hoping for a tease of how control and force org slot interact... Just to feel secure in how much troops are needed or not as the case may be

Totally agree, why they didn't go this route I'll never know. The realist in me says they didn't want to have to put out the kits with all the same options that the normal Tac squad gets, or to put them all out at once (might look odd if you released Primaris-sized Tac Marine but had normal sized Assault / Devestator / etc Marines?). The cynic in me says they had to make them different enough that people wouldn't say "I already have enough regular Marines, I don't need to buy these true-scale ones."

This is what I figured... As long as my Marine models have a ruleset I'll use it... Once it is only primaris structure I'll cobble squads together that way. Old Marines are everywhere so if the full replacement happens I'll just stock up on weapons and old bodies...

This is kind of what happened to me with the third edition orks. The sculpts were so different I had to decide to either keep the old stuff and buy all I could to keep playing or sell my old stuff to those that were gonna cling to it. I got over fair market value back then in chaos marine models and the rest is history. I was too young and barely had 2k in 2nd Ed points to invest in keeping what would become a retro look. This time around loading up on retro will save me painting time!

  7. You can pry my Marines from my cold dead hands!

Honestly though I'll field them as the sub par shlubs they are until they no longer exist. Then they'll be primaris Marines as I suspect primaris will be dropped from their name at the same time... So I'll always just play Marines!

9th seems to be fixing a lot of issues I had with 8th, but 5th was the first edition I played (well, I played ONE game of 4th), so I'll always look fondly at it!

I like the idea of an online rulebook (especially because I'm a 9th Age player), but I'm not sure what the legalities of that would be, posting a revised copy of the old rulebook. Plus I'm 100% not the guy who can put that together, as I'm absolutely no good with anything more complicated that Word and MSPaint, lol. That's mainly the reason I just did the redux as "addendums."

I played a single game of second... I do not look fondly at it...

I did her flesh first, then I made a drop of Aethermatic Blue and a drop of Contrast Medium on a palette (just a piece of plastic). I made a mixing line between them so at one end was 100% of each and in between were different combos, like 25/75 50/50 75/25. I started applying the 75% Medium and worked my way towards the 25%, being sure not to cover the sheerest parts as I worked outward. Hopefully that sounds as simple as it was. 😄

Hadn't considered varying the ratio depending on how stretched the sheer stuff was... <Slaps forehead> sounds kinda duh now that you typed it!

That actually does sound very doable, simple and useful! Appreciation to you sir.

  10. About what ratio medium to color did you use for that sheer look?

I've got some Malifaux rotten belles I've built but I'm afraid to paint due to visions of dresses matching stockings and this could be a super simple way... Paint dress no medium then add medium paint over already dry skin tones...

Random Request: Anyone here have a table saw or circular saw?

We bought a couple of MDF sheets to turn into shelves for a kitchen cabinet, but they were cut about an 1/4” too wide. I really don’t want to try cutting off the excess with just a dremel...

I do but I'm in Bellingham...

  12. Yeah I love the new formula stuff for paint, I'm a paint it for the table guy not a competition winner. That said I love scale 75 and they are entering this space with an offering right now.

They recently did a toughness test and rubbed fingers over a model with no varnish and the paint stayed on. Personally I can't wait till October! Scale has delivered multiple starters on time in my personal experience.

  13. I had some warping on the thinner roll as well... Found that it is soft enough you can just flatten it and lay so super glue (thin) into any crack that develops. It will break between cobbles any way so you won't see it once painted...

Thank you so much for this BTW. This is so much quicker, scalable and dependable for basing not to mention reasonably priced!

I have updated the main post with the changes. Thank you to everyone for the well thought out and kind suggestions and explanations of your specific situations. I really do like my own ideas LOL however I am humbled and inspired by the knowledge, wisdom and experience of my fellow gamers here at ORDO. I hope I did not ruffle anyone too much, I know this will be an incredible event and will be EXACTLY what we all need after the current lockdown.

I both like and want to thank you! Appreciate the ideas and look forward to your stint as HoG!

  15. For me as a captain the stress comes from having to add a person... Always seem to be one short or two extra who disappear when I lose a person I thought was locked. All that people management while trying to get an army together... I'm playing Malifaux right now! I don't want more 40k and while I'm pretty sure I could do chaos Marines my most likely fifth plays that so I'm doubled up again...

In years past we've missed out on points for not having a cohesive theme, this year it is adding tons of extra stress that we have so much overlap. <Shrugs> I'll work hard (like 105% not 110%) to make a team but failing that I might just go rogue and play a little blood bowl or stay home with my fate deck.

Splitting teams is not an option as we barely have one team worth of 40kers left.

All.  Please be aware that as of right now, there will also be an individual 40k event running con-currently with the team event.  This is so that those that cannot meet a team event requirement, have another avenue.

Do your part to destroy COVID so you can destroy (nicely and in the spirit of the OFCC) your opponent across from you.

Hope to see you all in July.

This solves all hardships and allows a few of the peeps to play Age of Sigmar! I might play Bloodbowl with my Lucky Gitz...

    OFCC stuff...

    Whats new?

    • New terrain setups for each table section
    • New terrain rules (some borrowed from the ITC)
    • New guidelines for factions in each team
    • New strategic parings for teams
    • New friends to be made

    Other stuff...

With all the things going on I get that we don't have much information.

One of the new things worries me, guidelines for the factions in each team. We Bellingham Warhamsters travel quite a ways and are a bit of an odd collection of armies. We don't invest in changing our armies every year and this could impact our ability to field teams.

With the OFCC fast approaching and how little time people will have leading up to it I feel (after too much time right now) we need to see these guidelines sooner rather than later.

Thank you @Huffnpuff excited to see some new HoG action!
