  1. WAAC is so much older than ITC.

I know there are a number of self described ITC players here that enjoy the leader board but are not WAAC. Please respect them by realizing there are differences and not saying all ITC are WAAC. it is inflammatory and you have been advised of this.

Pax your book has been noted as being different and you have in the past asked how you can avoid certain confrontations. This is one of those you should take note of and consider when dealing with others. Your hold on this ITC equals WAAC is starting to even offend me.

That example is not a typical ITC player he was a typical WAAC who was using the ITC construct. Does ITC draw those WAAC players? Sure so does war machine.

Anywho, I think we've reached, and passed the point, of meaningful discussion. I have my opinions, you all have your's, but nobody is changing anyone's mind.

Can we just let this one die? Not really a happy topic since we all disagree.

Biggest thing is to realize that while you consider them WAAC it is a slur so make sure you intend to enflame the other party when you use it. Regardless of the meaning it holds for you it is a pretty stiff derogatory term in our circle (gaming in general) and it's use should be carefully considered.

ITC players focus on winning. As LH was describing above, even when losing, he's focused on getting the next win. The game breaks down in wins and lesser wins, losses and lesser losses. And winning overall, through multiple games. That's WAAC - it's a focus on winning. That's not always a problem, and it works well with others that have a similar take on the game, it's just not everybody.

A focus on winning and competition is not WAAC. WAAC is a pretty strong word with cheating and bad sportsmanship included. I hate seeing ITC and WAAC being considered so similar... ITC actively tried to eliminate WAAC as well but they are definitely focused on the win.

I dislike ITC due to the focus on winning and points with missions that are just a little to intense for me. 40k rules do not support that level of competition to me. Can they? Yes ITC proves that is it in a way I want to put my effort into? No. ITC practice is definitely a focus on playing a certain way and one I avoid.

But in the end do not discredit the number of ITC players that are as wonderful if not more so than those "narrative" players out there. Do not label someone WAAC based on their preferred gaming style label them based on their behavior with in that construct.

"An Audience With The Queen" is a 50SS Malifaux 3rd edition tournament.

We will be holding this event at The Portland Game Store on October 12th.

Doors open at 11am with the first flip being at 11:30am.

3 Rounds, single faction. I will post schemes and strats here in a few weeks.

Hope to see you all there!! 🙂

What is the chance I can couch surf for this?

Three games could be worth the drive but not a hotel room... I'd shoot for a reasonable Friday evening arrival and head home after the games.

  5. It is more the drive for points... ITC brings a more competitive player out to compete. It takes practice and mental effort to be more than just a speed bump. While there are casuals at the events there is a little bit of evening out and a chance at a rough encounter or two.

Personally I'm a go and give it a shot find the diamond in the rough so to speak. Do it less now with a kid so I get the sentiment of no ITC and it is those missions combined with the American norm of succeed or why bother that lead to less enjoyable encounters.

I've never gone to any tournament and had all the games be enjoyable. Events are different, ITC are tourney and practicing for them creates a dynamic that I also look to avoid.

8e, jp infantry can ride any land raider, any building, and any storm Raven.

Only ones they can't enter are rhino variants.

No drop pods, but it would be redundant there since they can already deep strike. No storms or repulsors, but your jp chappy can't be in either even if they weren't jp. Oh, and they can't be in the Dreadnought drop pod...

Okay most transports that matter... Land raiders pshaw

  7. While I look at this as what is better for the game... While they could write legit rules for some of those units is it good to do so? A buffing character who has an aura moving that fast is hard to point out. His stats aren't that good but the aura can be super good positioned correctly. That bike is super valuable cost would need to be high but then it probably wouldn't sell as well.

I totally get the decision not to build a new kit for it adding a sku to the wall for something that may or may not sell well at the points cost. Zipping around at those speeds with his buffing is crazy just like the Libby. Being able to position for those mortal wounds...

Yes. If you declare Pride as your leader he gets an extra action, a free effigy (as totem), and can hire models with the same keywords regardless of faction. Outcasts being declared means only those generic faction upgrades would be available.

The game has ridiculous variety now that henchmen can lead crews, especially CR7... glad to hear that you’re back and playing.

Is there much of a crowd up there playing? We make Bellevue and Tacoma tournaments from time to time.

Well playing is a bit of a stretch so far but I'm super excited about it!

  9. I've gotten my M3E stuff now! Yay gotta get it all figured out... Vickies will still be my go to as Bishop joined them officially keyword style...

Question tho as a curve ball... Could I declare henchman Pride as my leader and hire all seven crossroads models? I think this is how it works. If have to leave Chambers at home as no hiring Masters there but I'd use outcast upgrades and versatile models/pay out of keyword for other outcasts right? All while having models from every faction...

Yeah I just went with it, assuming its "new Marine BS".  I saw the entire game as just a way to learn my army so I was more focused on mine than his, even though I also wanted to learn that.  It was really demoralizing to watch him roll those dice and even in 2+ cover...5 dudes can go away with THAT many shots at -2 AP.!!!

So he killed me at will with it, and there were six turns.  Afterwards he approached me and apologized honorably, conceding the match, as I had done fairly well even despite that, and with that many more Purifiers to use, it would have been quite a bit different.  He's always been a fair minded player and I legitimately have zero doubt that it was an honest mistake.

Agree with you on many accounts. The new Marine BS on the thunder fire is 2+ to hit and a 2+ save (used to be 3s) and benefiting from tactics and doctrines. That extra shooting attack is 2cp and works for thunder fire and whirlwinds fyi.

I think VonVilkee was saying more "It's probably not worth it to go over to the store and drop real dollars on Skull Cannon kits specifically for this purpose, but if you already have some, give it a try."

Also, the gun is more comparable to a Battle Cannon than a Missile Launcher, really.

    Yep this.

Best use I've seen for skull cannons is actually back field objective scoring. They are some of the toughest to kill options for the points and quite hidable!

On a note with summoning, haven't gotten the models to try, but I keep thinking those Skull Cannons of Khorne are a rather unique summoning option - it's a mid-long range weapon platform with what is basically a sub-par krak missile launcher. A good summon option if more melee won't really help your army against the current opponent, or you just need more anti-tank on the table.

Confetti cannons? I would not specifically invest in them for the option... I think ’letters could actually put more damage down on a tank.

That said if you already own them yeah go ahead and give them a try.

This is a good discussion. In my games where I set aside points for daemon summoning I also often find I'd rather keep my CSM characters moving during the movement phase.

However, in many of my games this year I've been taking Renegades and Heretics alongside my Chaos Marines. Aside from Russes, Sentinels, and Marauders the R&H underperform, but that's another thread.

But I've been rhinking about using the R&H Renegade Commanders as a base for some Turn 2 summoning. On Turn 1, run 1 up each flank. Enemy snipers always ignores them and shoot my CSM characters, Deffy, or  my Zerkers' Rhino on Turn 1 anyway. Then on Turn 2 they start summoning! This would leave my CSM characters free to keep keep moving during their movement phase. It would also make Renegade Commanders Dnegrah and Vicious Pete (currently a useless tax) quite useful!

    Oh man this is brilliant!

  14. If house ruling for "fairness" you could prolly come up with some "reserve" power level for summoning. Just remember that the power level of some units takes into account summoning and you are sacrificing allot from any character in order to summon.

Maybe no more more than an additional 10% increase in power level of the army for summons? But you could purposely take less to allow for more summoned power level.
