Da Orkz kan loot any’fing dat ain’t nailed down.

An’ da Big Mek haz a crowbar, so we’z gonna nick da nails too!

I just picture this "Grom the Paunch" situation where the monolith keeps trying to repair and the Ork Mek with attendants keep smashing pieces off and adding more gubbinz. Constant experimentation!

Bolter drill was the first, army-wide attempt to make space marines feel trained in a way nobody else was, and it was pretty good.

Then they came out with the doctrine system and it was so broken that they had to to re-write it and remove an entire stratagem just to try to keep it from continuing to ruin the game, as it had clearly done.

Between auras, more auras, ridiculous stratagems, combat doctrines, chapter tactics, shock assault (IMO, the dumbest space marine rule), and bolter drill, the combo-stacking is fankly game deciding.

You don't have to be good to win. Just play space marines.

But true... Shock assault is counter intuitive too as it pretty much always applies instead of when they charge.

Awesome, good to know. Now to figure out what arms & guns to use (probably go third party, because nuts to trying to track down *just* the arms/guns from a GW kit) and see if I can figure out just the right amount of jank for their gear & vehicles.

anvil industry.co.uk, good selection, good quality and dependability.

What irks me about Marines (under their current codex, I still hope the new one will fix it) is that they moved from being “The Mario” to being “The Ace.”

The main schtick of the Space Marines were that they were the generalist faction, good at everything but not great at any one thing. Blood Angels and Space Wolves were better at mêlée, but still not as great at it as true mêlée focused factions like Khorne; Imperial Fists and Raven Guard were better at shooting, but still not as great as true shooty armies like Tau or Imperial Guard. So on and so forth for all the chapters and whatever their specialty was.

But the current codex with its super doctrines, specialist units, and stratagems out the whazoo has moved them from Jack of All Trades into Masters of All Trades.

    Fair 🥺

Huh. My phone's autocorrect recognizes both "whisky" and "whiskey," but my phone's autocomplete defaults to "whisky."

Both are acceptable depending on nation of origin. As you typically speak of scotch whisky auto correct has learned your preferred reference.

The 9th edition FAQ came out and I've got to say, I really hate their new Look Out Sir system. The original version was really badly written (because they refuse to ever learn) and needed a re-write.

The new system is just illogical.

For instance, I can surround a character with 3 units of 2 Talos and you can shoot him all day. If I have 1 squad of 3 Talos, he cannot be shot. 3 offers more protection than 6, because...reasons.

I'm genuinely at a loss of what to do with my HQs. They're slower than everything else in the army, can't fit in transports, are very fragile, and are now almost impossible to screen.

They really, really, really hate Dark Eldar not space marines.

    I think they fixed it!

    • A friendly unit that contains 1 or more Vehicle or Monster models with a Wounds characteristic of 10 or more
    • A friendly non-Character unit that contains 1 or more Vehicle or Monster models
    • A friendly non-Character unit that contains 3 or more models

For my birthday my family got me a Traeger.

One of the Caskcade Locals was selling his yearling Pro. We talked June 30, 2020, he purchased it July 01, 2019.

Been having a BLAST grilling and smoking on it!

But HATE the price of meat... I go broke SO fast!

Yeah it's been a disappointing time watching meat prices... Get some pecan pellets, cast iron pans and start baking cookies and or muffins!

Could always squeeze in a techmarine.  A little healing never hurts.

The relic bolter is kinda awesome on a tech Marine keeps him cheap but doing something. Full servo harness gives you a plasma shot to use artisan rerolls on. I'd heartily approve of a tech Marine addition especially as it could be a tiny diorama of grots fighting over the guns!

Yes that is what I was looking for. Westrider and I made a deal. Thanks though, @Brandon.

Now I just need the scourge wings... Anyone?

@Munkie has made conversions and stuff... I think he went all skin and spidery things. I wonder if he has feathered scourge wings hanging around.

WOW, just read that the assault intercessors can get up to 5 attacks on the charge, +1 to wound, and an additional -1 AP in turns 3-5.... that's crazy!

Yeah and as troops can be used to not just sweep but also keep... To steal from Ish a bit.

  11. Look through the strats before and while making a list. If something is awesome and you want to use it make sure you have the appropriate models many are keyed to specific units.

The plus to dice roll on wound is kind of amazing. I'd take plenty of extra little characters just to be able to support your units with those extra attacks.

With the changes in ninth for the order of attackers charging is great but the blood angles shoot really well. I'd lean into the shooting heavily but be ready to meet any enemy head on in combat. Your base troops will wound enemy transports on 4s! Anything that relies on toughness feels it when you charge.

  12. I glued mine shut anyway to block Los, lazy painting and just play better...

So going first might matter to get on the ground. I planned on throwing them all down ASAP anyway! Progressive scoring and all.

I'm writing lists all mounted in pods I've got 8 painted from 5th Ed.

Blocking off sections of the battlefield was always questionable as once you've landed there isn't allot of mobility... It is one chance to be where you need to be.

  13. I'm pretty excited to go back to launching my whole army at objectives... Use pods to screen small squads and force those shooters to move to even get a bead on my objective secured troops, lots of them...

Target saturation with a single model able to control objectives, now that is attrition based warfare in the forty-first millennium.
