  1. Fantasy has been cancelled for TSHFT, lack of purchased tickets. Instead we're now running a warmachine masters tournament in it's place
  2. Is sudden death triggered at any time? or only as the battle begins? My impression it's only upon battle start, as it's in the battle begins section of the rules and not in the Battle rounds, but I'm confused because glorious victory is also talked about in the Battle Begins section but isn't actually done until the end of the battle. Thoughts?
  3. I may be wrong but I think you're playing battleshock wrong and confusing it with nerve for kings of war. Things die quick in this game but 30 wounds to a unit in one phase is pretty hard to pull off. Quote: To make a battleshock test, roll a dice and add the number of models from the unit that have been slain this turn. For each point by which the total exceeds the highest bravery characteristic in the unit, one model in that unit must flee and is removed from play. That said, there is the whole sudden death thing, but if as BroG is saying you go with large units of elite troops with high wounds/saves you won't typically be outnumbered and you can then load up on models. That said, you won't get many guys in combat for the most part, so there is that too.
  4. Does anyone have pictures of this army? I was just talking about the water effects bases with a couple of friends and wanted to show them pictures. If you got pictures please link them.
  5. Ok, wow, we’re already sold out of our cheap rooms! We managed to get some more but not at the same price! If you’d already put in a form before this was announced you got the cheaper rate (or we’ll make room in the cheaper rate for you) but now the rate has gone up for the M category rooms. There are still a VERY small amount of the K category which are cheaper than the new M category rate! MADNESS!

  9. Not that the rankings mean that much, I mean Dan Miner is 12th and he gets beaten up by 9 yr olds!
  10. Mark and I will be showing up about 10pm but hopefully earlier... I wouldn't mind getting a beer or three and a game in tomorrow!

Any book issued less than 30 days before the beginning of the event will not be allowed; the prior edition must be used. For Chaos Dwarfs, the Forge World Chaos Dwarf list will be used. Models Non-GW models are allowed as long are a clear representation of the model/unit they are replacing. Proxies, as opposed to models clearly converted for “counts as” purposes, are strongly discouraged but may be allowed if approved by the tournament organizers before the event. For all units, a majority of the models must have equipment (spears, halberds, shields, etc.) that is representative of the unit in your army list. In every case, make sure to clarify anything ambiguous with your opponent before each game. Very few exceptions will be allowed and violations will result in deductions to sportsmanship scores. Restrictions For Older army books, (Bretonnia, etc.) BSB models WILL be allowed to take mundane equipment options. No special/named characters. Folding Fortress is banned. The White Dwarf errata Power Scroll will be allowed. Maximum 12 Casting/Power or Dispel dice can be used in any phase from any source including warpstone tokens and magic mushrooms. Hills and Buildings block Line of Sight. No mysterious terrain rules are in effect, Building rules are in effect. Firing Cannons: when firing cannons, players do not need line of sight to the point on the ground where they are aiming. You can freely choose any point between a visible target and the cannon. Over and under shooting in order to try to hit something that is not within the war machine’s line of sight is not allowed. Army lists Lists are due by Aug 1st, 2015 to wcp@wcp-vancouver.com. Any list received after that will earn the player a 5 point etiquette deduction from their sports score and will not be Comp Banded for the first round. Army lists are only to be submitted on the form created by the USA Masters that will be available for download. (Link coming soon) Your composition score will be based on the Swedish Fantasy Kompmallen system. This system provides a formula for calculating a composition score that is adjusted by the strength or weakness of the units and items you take in your army. These adjustments are based primarily on an empirical review of the components of winning armies over numerous tournaments. The newest version of the Swedish Fantasy Kompmallen System can usually be found on this thread: http://swfbr.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=4494 This will be cut off at 2 weeks before the deadline to allow early submission of lists, so the cut-off is July 17th Once calculated, your Army Composition score must fall between 8 and 14. If your army score is greater than 14, it will be automatically adjusted down to 14, which is the maximum Army Composition score for this tournament. If your army scores below 8, it will not be allowed in the tournament. Because you know the factors that go into the score ahead of time, you can adjust your army to get the score you want and you will know your score before the tournament The Masters will be using the “Active” comp variation of the Swede Comp System. Each point of Comp is worth 100 Victory Points, with each decimal equaling 10 victory points. At the beginning of each game, the opponents calculate the difference in the comp, with the player with the higher comp beginning the game with the net difference of their comps in victory points. Your composition score will also be factored into pairings during the first round of the tournament. The final 5 rounds of pairings will be by Battle Points only. We know this system is very detailed and can appear daunting. So please feel free to contact us with questions and/or for help with calculating or validating your score. (wcp@wcp-vancouver.com) If you sign up as a team you will be given team immunity for the first three rounds of the event. Players will be matched by Army Composition score for the first round pairings. Victory points are calculated using the method used in the Warhammer Fantasy Rulebook with the following exceptions: units that are reduced to below 25% or are fleeing at the end of turn 6 will award 1/2 victory points (rounded up). Conceding a game early should not be an option. Man up! You came to play Warhammer, not whine and pack up models. You can still fight for objective points and allow your opponent to do the same. Anyone conceding a game must get their opponents permission and it cannot be done prior to the 5th turn of a game. Battle Points are awarded each game based on the victory points margin per the following chart: Victory Points Margin Winner Loser 0-149 10 10 150-299 11 9 300-449 12 8 450-599 13 7 600-749 14 6 750-899 15 5 900-1049 16 4 1050-1199 17 3 1200-1349 18 2 1350-1499 19 1 1500+ 20 0 Scenarios: TSHFT Aug 2015 will not be using scenarios in the traditional sense. All the battles will be Battle Line as laid out in the BRB. However each player will be given 5 strategy cards to play (one per round) each with objectives to claim for additional victory points and are up to each player to determine their strategy on when to use each of cards. Each player may only play each card once, which must be signed and turned in with each games score sheet. In the beginning of each game, AFTER deployment each player must lay their card in front of them, and the opponents then flip over the card at the same time. The Strategy cards objectives are worth up to 300 VP for the main objective and 150 for the two secondary ones.
  15. Ha! My wife would totally not be ok with that Derk.
  16. So I've opted not to play in the OFCC fantasy this year, as have all the hammered heads. Mostly because I no longer have a fantasy team and all this 9th speculation makes me in kind of a wait and see holding pattern. I may still end up coming down to play Malifaux that weekend, and if you want to come see me, I'll be running Breaching the 'Faux for Malifaux the beginning of May.
  17. Actually I find the fact I came in 20th exceptional since my first game saw me tabled by a chaos legion army, and fintan tabled me with KFA by himself (he didn't need the rest of his army in that game). The eternity king army I faced in that tournament was played by someone completely new who made a lot of mistakes.... the skaven I played should have tabled me too, but he also seemed new and made lots of mistakes. The dwarf army with few warmachines was more of a novelty army, he was a good player but had no tools for dealing with all the scouting and tunnelling I had. I think getting 20 in that tournament was an achievement with vanilla TK. It's not even the special characters, many units become much better in eternity king but cost no different with the overlap upgrades. Having a casket in a regular VC build to give it a stronger magic phase is very good. etc... there are plenty of not-well thought out ideas in end times books aside from the characters.
  18. Actually I get lots do good games in the year, we've got a good bunch up here overall. The games in the last few months that haven't been fun? Vs end times lists... Once again us Canadians don't frequent your boards so if we're not notified we find out woefully late as was the case here. For an event that seems to want us to come you guys don't put any effort in keeping us engaged. It was a major part of my feedback about last event that got ignored. All this a bit late stuff, suck it up buttercup crap isn't constructive.
  19. The part about the news being out for months bugs me a bit, it's all be HERE, no where else that I've seen... I wasn't the only one completely surprised today to find out the OFCC allows end times, I know that many of us Canadians had no idea until today, even Darren who was consulted about the addendum had NO IDEA that it was in regards to being applied to the OFCC.... I guess since it's been out for months, it must be my fault that we're not checking ordo daily, and why would after weeks know just to happen to check the OFCC rules for changes? Myself, Peter, Darren, Vern, Shayne all had no idea until today. I still wouldn't have even known if Chris Powell hadn't brought it up (with regards to giving the event a pass because of end times). I haven't played a lot of Warhammer lately, but even my limited game set vs end times (10ish games or so) I have had a very sour experience with it (more than your atypical new book syndrome). I'm not talking from just 'a game or two' and find that notion condescending. There's a reason why Swedish hasn't touched end times with a 50 ft pole, and why we probably shouldn't either. I don't know it feels like we've already been forgotten about, maybe we won't be missed either.
  20. I am sorry, but elf lists getting all of the abilities (murderous prowess, etc) of all 3 books and the ability to cherry pick from the best lists? Under the current comp isn't hit any extra, just use the comp hits from their respective lists? I can understand you still going since it's local NtK and Raindog, but for me I'm looking at $75US + food + accomodations, which with the current exchange rate is getting way up there expensive. I love you guys a lot and love coming to play and see you guys, but I have to pick and choose my events due to financial responsibility, so I won't be attending ones I don't like, so unless there's some pretty dramatic changes this one will likely draw a pass from me.
  21. And if one team has 4 end times lists? nope, not sold on it.
  22. Ok I was just made aware that OFCC has decided to use end times, when was this decision made? I have to say I'm pretty disappointed by this decision. End times is not just not balanced, it's utterly ridiculous. There are quite a few of us upon this revelation that are seriously considering not coming, myself included. Games against end times lists have been some of the worst games of warhammer I have ever played, and the idea of spending what is already a pricey tournament to come and face off against those types of lists doesn't thrill me in the slightest. I understand it's your show and your rules, but I also understand that I can choose to go if I want to, so I likely will choose not to. Colour me very disappointed since I've only missed just one OFCC since it all started.
  23. You posted an edit link, I'd need permission to view that google doc. I'd recommend swapping it for a sharable link instead.
