  1. Hey JIM! If you're playing in this I WILL BE THERE AND I'M BRINGING HELL WITH ME! (or at least members of Chop! and WCP).
  2. Most of you that know me, know I take very toned down lists all the time (even in no comp, WAAC environments). Even being that type of player I'd have to say, many of us come down from up north for the bragging rights that comes from winning (and to drink and be rowdy on top of it of course). Does that mean we're WAAC players? I think enough is done to dissuade the WAAC players by making prizes be independent of where you place (ie raffling prizes), but don't take away the bragging rights IMHO. You'd likely get only 1 team from up in Canada as a result, although if you think we're a problem then I guess that's a good thing.
  3. Your math is wrong. If only 1/3 hit, that's 5's and 6's, of which 1/2 of those should be statistically 6's. Thus, in your example, 13 hit, but 6.5 are poision. and only 1.083 are additional wounds making 7.583 wounds. of which 1/3 save (2.578 saved) making 5.055 unsaved wounds. That's enough to kill most big monsters. And if not, enough to scare it royally. Keep in mind the skirmish skinks get to march and shoot as well... That said, I usually deal with skinks alright. Its just I end up having to focus them down and thus the rest of the stuff gets me lol....
  4. I'm in no way official, but I was under the impression that it's rider and mount as their are other elements that specifically state (rider only).
  5. I'll be bringing my Relic Knights if I get mine before then FOR SURE! I want to smash Deke's FACE! ;)
  6. is it really THAT tough? I figured 3.4-3.8 but 4? I haven't been looking but I figured that many lists are taking 3ish monsters with the SoM allowed, and he's got a VERY soft magic phase in that they're all lvl 1's. Any lvl 4 should be able to shut down his magic phase completely unless he's 6 dicing, and that has it's own issues. I'm also sure that Ricky isn't the only one with a survivable lord on a big beasty, it doesn't stop the carny from being shot out from underneath him. Temple guard is in the medium size range, not deathstar and skinks are squishy. Sure poison has potential to be better against high amount of enemy beasts, but there are team matchups for a reason right? I'm sure there will be lists that aren't as susceptible to poison that it can be matched up against.... Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to offend or defend this list, I'm just honestly curious as this would be a very soft list in our area so I'm trying to get a handle on general feelings.
  7. Since virtual pivots can only be done by random movement in this case and random movement isn't technically a charge (thus why you don't get reactions) I would say yes. Keep in mind he's only referring to random movement for virtual pivots as far as I can read.
  8. Well on a big flyer you usually see death which would up the power level of this list considerably, the rest of the lores don't benefit him as much but will help his rating. Although I think he's going with the chaos dwarf lore since his gf made him up some cards special ;)
  9. Nope it may end up in the higher 3's still, but I think it for the most part hits the build to a 3 mentality, especially the no-slann part!
  10. That said Shayne, the mentality is to build to a 3 (ie, bring very powered down versions of lists that our meta has gotten accustomed to), and this list doesn't hit that, I'd say everything else looks fine (tough, but not excessively so). Losing ethereal off a monster that is ambushing means that EVERY army has at least one turn to try to shoot him off. I'd rather not have to be very careful about matching him up every round to makes sure his opponent has good games.... I'd argue that in the context of what I feel is a 3 this list with the ethereal beast doesn't fit, solely due to the monster being able to win games against certain armies single handedly.
  11. That's good, because he's on MY TEAM! CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!
  12. Heh you guys have just summed up the arguments on both sides there and show why an official ruling on this is needed... hopefully someone can pop in here and shed some light. I'll move the same question up to the ratings committee thread and see if I can get it sped up.
  13. Black sheep challenge also accepted by WCP-I, (unless you wanted to play Chris Powell and co.). We won't be branded as hiding from anyone.
  14. BTW Mark really meant WCP-I and although he's not the captain of this team all challenges laid by him are approved by me. I've agreed to not wrestle him over the chance to play Nathan, and instead in the good of our friendship just to make sure that matchup happens. Also WCP-I (otherwise know as the B-team!) would like to challenge team not appearing in this event (fomerly known as flaming battle kittens). Not because they don't know how to play warhammer ;), but because they're all super great people!
  15. Altered teams for WCP, also I'm going to bug CHOP! about their teams, looks like 2 maybe 3 teams from them: Team Name: WCP Vancouver Alternate+Captain: Dan Miner Army: Tomb Kings Player: Mike Yee Army: High Elves Player: Sean Cathcart Army: Beastmen Player: Ricky Mitchell Army: WoC Player: Mark Handford Army: VC Team Name: WCP Hammered Heads Captain: Shayne Mitchell Army: Dark Elves Player: Chris Powell Army: Daemons Player: Vern Harper Army: TBD Player: Darren Thibault Army: Empire, Dwarfs or Wood Elves
  16. I've poked the other WCP team for a captain check in.
  17. Crappy drawing of the deployment for scenario 3
  18. not to mention the metal models don't come with new cards so you've got to spend more on getting the 2E cards for them, and that until recently half of their stock didn't even have rules for them in 2E... list goes on and on...
  19. I am hoping that if our team was amongst those teams that appeared to think it was a competitive tournament, that myself or one of my team mates may have been informed of this. Our team did quite well, but other than the one outlier in our team (of which I had discussed with the ratings committee). I felt our team's lists were within the scope of the event. I do feel one of the Chop! teams was a bit higher on the power scale, but I do hope that our trash talking isn't being taken as us Canadians treating this as a highly competitive tournaments. We actually scale back our lists A LOT when we come down there (there are quite a few uncomp'ed events up here). That said, us Canadians in the lower mainland (Vancouver BC area) play A LOT of Warhammer, and I would argue we've got some of the best players in all of North America (although I'd struggle to provide any real statistical data to back this up) and I'm hoping that being strong players isn't being construed as being power gamers. Any rate, I digress. The real point here is if you guys have a problem with us or other teams, make sure you're talking to them (because if it's us, we haven't been approached on this directly, and I'm pretty sure neither of the Chop! groups have either).
  20. Oh and if Derk, Robert and Chris want a club name, let me know and I'll update. Don't forget about Wet Coast GT! www.wetcoastgt.com
  21. I can't remember what list Robert brought, can someone remind me so I can update it?
