  1. ran across this... Ringo Simpkins put a video on this youtube channel about a simple contest to pay it forward. To win, one must have a painted 40k chaos force. put up a video showcasing it, or photos with the url and link to it from his video explaining the contest. This is the video that has the details. Simple as that.
  2. Looking forward to another great day of relaxed FoW tournament gaming. The award plaques are in hand, prizes have been received from Battlefront Miniatures and CGR Painters.
  3. Remember to submit your lists to 'pdxwar@gmail.com' prior to the tournament as it will make it much easier the morning of.. and I'll thank you.
  4. The 15th is the first Thursday after the campaign starts. so lets start then. Take a look at the how to play section in the first post.
  5. wwpd has announced their Italy Campaign. Starts soon and has instructions of how to play/be involved. "The launch of the WWPD campaign coincides with the 70th anniversary of the Allied Armies in Italy (AAI) launch of Operation DIADEM on May 11th, 1944. On June 4th, the AAI claimed the prize of Rome. Our campaign will run no later than Mid-June."
  6. As another data point.... Having painted hundreds of the OpenFire plastic figs for clients and thousands of metal figs from other blisters/box sets, I prefer the metal ones most of the time. The plastic handheld weapons seem to be more brittle and break easier when cutting from the sprue or during the cleaning stage; same for the mg42 and 34 that go with the half-tracks. If there are mold lines I find they are a bit harder to get off with the knife then the metal with knife and file. The detail on the plastic infantry is great though as Zeke says. On the plastic vehicles, sometimes I find the larger flat spaces are a bit too smooth for my taste but nothing that rough primer can't fix.
  7. got actual info on it. "Saturday only, all sessions is $20.00. This represents a $15.00 convention fee and NHMGS membership for 1 year. This is not available during preregistration, only at the convention registration desk on Saturday. Bruce"
  8. I wondered when one of the bigger model making companies would jump into the 1/56 scale arena. There are all kinds of possibilites here. Hopefully some modern stuff will be in the works also.... Giuliano Malservisi and Gian Piero Parmeggiani, the founders of Italeri, say, "Italeri is very proud to announce an agreement with Warlord Games, a wargames company that produces an amazing range of historical miniatures, and the right partner to develop a new line of plastic in 1:56 scale." full story
  9. I noticed that the guys at wwpd announced a rankings system for FoW and they imported a bunch of the existing rankinqshq tournaments, including the NWI 2 results. The plan is that the results from the upcoming Enfilade tournament will be submited to this system since rankingshq went down at end of feb. wwpd rankings system

  11. well, I obviously didn't make it tonight. dang work; I do have the Hungarians with me if that is any consolation. I need to get a game in before I forgot how to play...
  12. Q. Why the huge discount? Is Vietnam not popular? Vietnam sold well beyond our best expectations. We were so excited the community took to it, and allowed us to take it from a small Wargames Illustrated supplement to a line of its own! We will continue to support Vietnam into the future with more supplements, models, and exciting ways to play. We wanted to offer an inexpensive way for people who may still be on the fence to jump into the fray, or for those already in the suck to bulk out their forces. original article
  13. I'll plan to be @GG on 3/6 with a Hungarian 1650pt LW force.
