  1. So this is kind of new, so let's see if you heard. Star Wars VIII will be released May 2017, but that is not all! A spin off movie is coming out in Dec 2016 called Rouge One! And there will be More! http://money.cnn.com/2015/03/12/media/disney-star-wars-episode-eight/
  2. Haven't role played in a while but these mini's look like they'd be prefect for a Viking themed RPG?
  3. You made some points and I am glad you got something out of it. I just have to wait to see what will be next now. (Of course Aramada and Blood Rage are in my sites for spending this spring so I should be happy soon.) Speaking of Ragnorok check out the Board Game section of the forums. Blood Rage would be up your alley.
  4. Ok, I hear you JMGraham but I would argue the difference between Ragnorok and End Times is that it was told to the men over and over so they would not be afraid of death. It wasn't fatalism becuase it taught that even in death it is not the end and you will be back to do this again, after spending much time festing in the halls of Valhalla. Even after Ragnorok the cycle starts again and you will be back to do it all over. They believed very much in life after death. But I will say of all the WHFB books I have read you knew things were bad but there was always a shread of hope that was fought for and the end of the story wasn't all puppies and wine but the balance was partially restored. This whole end time thing was so one sided and I kept waiting for a good tale of sacrifice that prolongs the life of humanity longer. But it just kept getting worse every step till it ended like a bad joke. The Chaos Gods just got bored and wandered off to do it again. ??????? Again I don't like this kind of tales. It serves no propose to me. (I've got my degree in Nursing and have seen enough fatalism. I want more heroes over coming the fatalism.)
  5. Ok, calm head now. Of course all Heroes die. But there is a difference between a Hero dying to save his friend, family, city or world than just saying "now everyone is swallowed up by the nothingness." I mean the End Times books where all one sided where the good guys lost at every turn. I kept waiting to see when the good guys might get a break and save something. But it was a futile battle. In novel terms that's what you call a bad story line. It started with "the bad guys are stronger than you and we are going to kick your ass." and it ended with "we are the bad guys and we were stronger than you and we kicked your ass." and everything in between was the same thing. In essence it was a Snuff series and I hate Snuff stories. I didn't even like the way the last X-Men had everyone killed even though they brought everyone back by changing time. That stuff is just not my bag at all and I find it depressing. A hero that dies saving the day I actually find lifts my spirits and makes life feel like it worth fighting for. That is why we normally read tales of fiction, to find inspiration and get away from the normal everyday life. But that is just my opinion, I really really didn't like how they ended it. We are entitled to our own opinions.
  6. Edit: Ah forget about it. This whole End Times thing is just not worth it. I am taking a break from WHFB till this blows over. I still have never in my life seen a gaming company do this to its fanbase. So we get to see if it works or if GW continues its spiral into a second league gaming company.
  7. Honestly I am so unsure of how I feel about WHFB right now I am dumbfounded. I am staring at my army for OFCC that needs to get painted and I am feeling like why bother. Games done. Bad Guys win. Good for them now there's nothing. Now GW will probably try its hand in Steampunk because other companies are doing good with it. Hey X-Wing is the second largest miniature game right now just right behind 40K. Maybe they should try their hand in that. Is 40K next? I'll let you 40K players chew on that for awhile.
  8. I would love to see them make Warhammer playable at low and high point levels. We just have to wait to see what 9th is like. Just hope they don't slaughter the new story or look just to copy right an IP. The rumors of the IP rights being the reason is looking more and more true. Seriously looking for a bright side here but I am coming up blank.
  9. I kind of liked the Khaine rules for mixing the game up for off games. Still won't play it as a standard game. Now these new rules....... NO! What kind of crack are they on? Hey guys I am running a 30 strong Warlock unit hero bus. Any issues? No Old World doesn't compute with me. No Old World no Warhammer as we know it, so why do we need Chaos gods? It's not Warhammer anyways. It is going to be something new, good or bad, it's not Warhammer.
  10. With the new fluff I hope they leave out the Chaos gods. Not sure if I'm going to get this bad taste out of my mouth for a while. Any idea of the new fluff they will be working off of?
  11. Again I am not arguing the story line changing and characters dying off. And the new story line 'may' be good and even better than the Old World, but that is a discussion for when 9th is released. My disappointment is more "how" the story of the Old World ended. The Old World is dead, chaos destroyed and unmade everything in that reality. But from what I have read and what has been mentioned by the spoilers it just ended as a bad story. Much like how the last Indiana Jones movie ended. I was just like "huh?". The whole ending just seemed not thought out well and more of a quick excuse to redo the look of WHFB so they can copy right the IP. Not an actual planned ending that they were building up to. I even bet if it weren't for the whole Chapter House ordeal the End Times would have never happened. But this is just my opinion. Some people liked the Phantom Menace and Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull, I just thought they were rushed bad stories to make a profit on an already good story.
  12. LOL. That's how I kind of felt. It was like watching the last Indiana movies, or the last episode of Saint Elsewhere. Just felt let down.
  13. I also saw someone spoil the story up to that point. There is a big battle that Chaos was going to win, so the Incarnates goto the Ruins of Middenheim and have a battle with Archaon and his greater daemons. Everyone dies. Everyone, even Archaon, twice! Or at least gets swallowed up by the rift of nothingness. So the rift is opened now, not a thousand years from now. But reality is unfolding so time is different for the survivors as the rift swallows everything.
  14. I hear what you are saying, the title of the books were End Times, but the end caught me way off guard. Also I guess my disappointment is not the death of characters as much as seeing a whole world I have been following since I played WHFRP back in 89. It was an imperfect world fraught with dark monsters that hide even in plain sight. I liked the Old World more than any other Fantasy setting (even though the GoT's world is growing on me fast.) and liked its low magic feel. I like many liked hearing there was going to be change but this isn't change, it's the End of a world I spent my adult life watching its struggles and growing. So now we have to see what happens next. Is Pretre right, will 9th focus on the world as it is being torn apart till its ultimate end, or will it be a whole new world with a whole new history, armies and cultures that are alien to us? It might be good but I am still disappointed the way they ended the world on such a one sided anticlimactic way. Many story lines were unfinished and now they are gone. I wanted Luthor Huss to fulfill his destiny, which now turns out was not true. There are many other of examples but I will just leave it at that I am disappointed, Phantom Menace disappointed.
  15. Everything but that one spirit has been unmade. Chaos even left and is not paying attention to that reality anymore. So the story has ended. What comes next, even if the new reality was started by that one spirit, will be a totally new reality. There is nothing left to continue, no fight (the bad guys left that reality satisfied.) and no culture or even a planet left to continue. Everything has been wiped clean.
  16. Follow the link. Everything except the spirit of one man is destroyed. And I mean everything, no bubbles, no rubble, no nothing, just one man and his spirit to remake everything. That was a surprise to me. I know the Old World was being wrecked but they ended it just like the Never Ending Story. Reality is left to be recreated by the vision of one man. WHFB's story is over and done. What comes next will be a completely new world, not one where there is fighting amongst the ruin of an old. Very drastic!
  17. Now that the warnings have been made, Never Ending Story anyone?
  18. I am posting a link to an image of the last page in the End Times story. Do Not go there if you do not want to know. I warn you you will be disappointed. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jETvpvbvKBU/VQAq2iqrHCI/AAAAAAABbRY/qVqeVLbuCCY/s1600/B_zAz5cWcAAZu0A.jpg Again do not follow this thread if you do not want to know.
  19. Just read a spoiler, actual image from the book, about the end. Lame. We where all wrong and the end is bad. For all.
  20. So there was this ET book called Khaine. Khaine died. Death to Chaos!
  21. Honestly I see him as both a strong character in a unit of heavy Knights but if he got in a challenge with Grimgore or the likes he would be in big trouble with Grimgore's ASF. In some challeges it will depends on who goes first.
  22. Also if you are in the Portland area we have game nights Sunday's (except this Sunday, there is a tournament going on.) down at our local club. There are several very good players that are good teachers to boot and everyone takes time to explain rules and strategy.
  23. We need to know your location, Ordo stretches from Salem up to Bellingham. (We try to forget about our Canadian Brothers. )
  24. No need to explain yourself, I totally get it. Also someone you know will get it and then you can just play with them! Of course it might cost you a beer to join in but that is the small price we have to pay. I will let you know how it plays when I get it, sometime in Sept.
