I like the green shirt.

I turned my airbrush down to like 10psi and that makes a pleasant (and very fine) splatter effect. It can be used for a "dusting of snow", a speckledy camo, or ...I suppose...freckles.

pax, it's a good sign that the animated dancing man-baby disturbs you,

Took a lot of macro (flower mode) photos today and some of them turned out well. If you spot yours here and want the original lemme know.

Is there room for casual pickup games on Friday night (40k or otherwise)? I have interest in Outrider, Warlands, Firestorm Armada, etc.

That's Star Wars Starship Battles (2006) by Wizards.

Thanks for all the ideas and rules guys. I made lemonade out of this situation by converting into a CombiMelta. The Bite of Fenris is a neat idea for a future project. I picture The Bite being more ornate and larger than the boltgun I had.

To end this on a happy (and model-y) note. I already had a Rune Priest in Runic Armor modeled, see look at those Rune deals (more on his legs, not pictured), yay!

Whelp, looks like I'll be running him in Runic Armor instead. Same points, one less Invuln save (6+), and at least I get grenades. This has been another episode of "learning the rules by modeling". Thanks for help.

So wait, does replacing "power armour, bolt pistol, and frag and krak grenades with Terminator armour" as the Codex says mean he doesn't get grenades either? If not, where does it say that Terminator armor includes grenades?
-
No dick-ish-ness interpreted. My bad. Oops. +1 for re-reading the Codex. Well I guess I'll have to model another arm with no weapon at all! ;-)

One of the things I actually like about this game is the WYSIWYG rules give me an excuse to model. I was checking my list for OFCC and noticed that a Storm Bolter is NOT included for a SW Rune Priest in Terminator armor. It's actually a +5 upgrade, and I don't have those points to spare. He does get the Bolt Pistol for free, as part of his original kit, though.
So I set about searching through my bits box and found an arm and a funky looking Bolter-ish thing with a folding stock. I decided that is a pretty neat looking. It's probably from Necromunda bits I got from Gareth a while back.
Anyhow here is the result. I think it looks really cool. It's definitely not a typical Bolter, and it's far slimmer and different than a StormBolter, so I'll call it a special issue Rune Priest Terminator Bolt Pistol?

So you gonna play this Fri night at OFCC?

Hope to see folks on Sat! We have 3 tables reserved, room enough for 6. If more show we may have to scramble. Please RSVP here if you are planning on coming!

Great minis! Having just seen Mad Max FR, and being a fan of all three original movies, I totally would play Warlands at OFCC on Friday night open play. Warlands looks cooool. Car Wars is cool but too hi-tech and isn't a directly relevant rule set to Mad Max desert scum shenanigans unless you use the Chassis & Crossbow alternative ruleset. Atomic Highway is also neato, but more of an RPG.
What about Outrider? I have just donated $2 get the rules (but it's available for free).

Subtle? Yes. Tasty? Oh yes. Poorly photographed? Indeed. Yet feel the wrath of Army Painter Strong Tone in a Can. I pledge to always use that entire phrase when I refer to this product. No abbreviations. Ever.

Misleading!
If it makes you feel any better, both Valhalla model and stats are impractical for game play. So it's kind of a moot point. Let it go.

Come join us Sat June 27 12noon to 6 at Guardian Games. We're going to setup a few tables and have semi-formal game day designed to introduce new players to the game and dust off the fleets of those who haven't been around in a while.
Hoping to get 8 people. We had 8 last time.
500 point fleets.
I will be on hand to answer questions and teach.
Terrain will be provided. A couple 'loaner fleets' are available.
RSVP on our Facebook page.

The accompaniments remain part of a Tier 1 squad, even though their 'parent' ship is now gone. They cannot regroup. As ruled on Spartan.

@Westrider, thanks! Here's the full Frontline Gaming article on the Death Rider with excerpt. I wish Astra Militarum RR were half this good.
The basic Death Rider is a really solid value for their 15pts per model price tag. You get a WS4, 2 wound cavalry Guardsmen with 6+FnP, the Death Korps morale rules, and a reroll on failed Dangerous Terrain tests. Not bad! They also have a 4+ stock, base 2 attacks, a pistol, Frag and Krak grenades, and a hunting lance. The lance gives them strength 5, AP3, I5 attacks. Nice! The Ride Master (Sarge) can also take melta Bombs, or a Plasma Pistol or Power Weapon. This is a solid little unit that is reasonably durable (T3 is a killer, though), and hits pretty dang hard. The Command Squad version features an officer, the option for a Commissar, and a Demo Charge. With WS4, and Krak Grenades, possibly a special melee weapon or Melta Bombs on the sarge character, they can continue to contribute even after the first charge against soft targets.

Hey so there's a new book/codex/formation/whatever out that supposedly makes Rough Riders not suck for once. I haven't seen, it don't know what it's called, and don't know why. BUT I KNOW I HAVE 15 ROUGH RIDERS (two with FLAMERS - cause you can) and I wanna know if I should play em.
Can some soul have mercy on me and explain what's up?
Thanks bros.- 1

The Halo universe doesn't interest me. However, the new Firestorm Fleets have been providing me some food for thought. I've grown tired of Terrans, but their new Carrier and Assault Cruisers have renewed my interest.
I'm available for games most Saturdays. I generally try to be a good teacher and play softer fleet builds (unless I'm fighting Jared aka 'theredepic') but interest has been waning lately. Maybe it's the summertime. Hard to justify spending 5 hours in GG on a Saturday afternoon. I'll be around if anyone wants to get a game in.
