  1. I field a Bastion Breacher Medusa in every guard list. It's a huge target but if it lives reliably blows up high AV. 2D6 + 10 from downtown is pretty damn nice, and against a building or land raider it doesn't miss very often. Hmm maybe I need to try and build a second one. Plan X is to mass heavy weapons. I'm going to try fielding a ton of weapon teams as when you have only 1-3 squads they die quickly. I'll pair this with some Sabre platforms where FW is allowed. TL Lascannons with interceptor can get the job done in enough numbers. You can order IG weapon teams to get TL with the right HQ. Vendettas are awesome, also with TLL and with hover mode can get rear shots.
  2. The melta cannon looks much more interesting and detailed than the double battlecannon. I think it would be more useful in the game too, unless your opponent was trying to spam power armor.
  3. Ravagers are one of the best bargains in the game if you ask me. The ultimate glass cannon for about 100 points. Even with all their heavy weapons guard can still struggle with AT, since they are BS3. Most Guard units aren't super durable The trouble I see with your plan is that you have 5 units, 7 counting transports, with Desperate allies that could potentially get really messy. I'd rather take a cheap homunculus, one troops choice in a raider, and a ravager... since I like to spend a lot on IG tanks and still have tons of scoring bodies. Your Scourges plan is novel though, that could work. What if you took Leman Russes with the Fortress, it is a lot of points but also a lot of AV 14.
  4. I say Deny works. Deny works an all hostile powers that target a unit, including maledictions that don't cause wounds. It's not a saving throw IMO. What psychic power has a D effect?
  5. FW is being allowed at TSHFT now, pretty much the only event I go to. They'res not that many right now but numbers will grow. 155 + a few weapons seems pretty reasonable for what you get, on paper. Interceptor works on everything coming from reserve.
  6. My question is can I include a Contemptor Mortis in a Chaos Marine Force, or do I have to do counts as? I'm looking to build an army with lots of Interceptor. I just got I just got three toy robots as a gift. They are the right size and shape for FW Contemptor Dreads. According to the package their names are Tanker, Martian, and... Coma? Wait, what? Brand: M.A.R.S. Heroes, should be pretty affordable. Here's a page with pictures: http://kylesastrolounge.blogspot.com/2012/11/mars-heroes.html
  7. AIEEEE! These look so good I might have to get a kit anyway. I never field the ones I do have... but all those extra options would be fun to model with.
  8. I may have been overzealous about the Leviathan size issue. I thought the big guys were 12". They are actually 8.5". Since the real Knights will be about 6.5", and the 15mm Leviathan is 4.5", it's about the same difference. You have to pick too big or too small (although a tall base can make up for too small.) The GW Knights look way better to my eyes, but the Dreamforge Leviathans are all on sale until the end of the week. Hmmm...
  9. The wings count as part of the hull for flyers, they do not count for LOS for anything else. I thought the base had to cross the squad for vector strikes. Really that guy should fix his flying bases. (Half formed joke about Burk messing with pee pees)
  10. Yeah you're good Pax. I've seen confused people pull this crap before. "I can see a sliver of the side so I shoot that." No, you don't, not if you want to play by the rules.
  11. I don't see an advantage, but it is annoying as a drunk grot to those of us who care about consistency.
  12. Funny that you can get a 15mm kit for $33 that will be almost as tall as the $140 knight kit that is coming out. Thanks for the heads up.
  13. Regular wraithguard with ranged weapons kick ass just fine in melee, relying on their high strength and toughness. A true all comers list is harder than ever in 6th. I think you need more anti-air.
  14. You need more scoring troops (I take 4-8 in my lists), otherwise looks okay. Ditch the wraithblades to find the points. I second the motion to split up the bike squad.
  15. In theory I am fairly strict with what I expect from other people's modeling in terms of WYSIWYG and scale. In practice I try to be a good sportsman and be lenient so my opponent has fun. I'd rather play against a converted force with a few wonky base sizes and wargear than one that is completely stock and legit. I DO want you to be able to play with the models you like but am just warning you there may be some flak for it. Since you are only doing pre arranged matches with them you can check to see if people care or not. I just don't want to see a trend of giant stand in models or people at tournaments losing their minds.
  16. Yeah Jaegers are nice, but $30 + shipping is a bit more than I want to pay. I still can't paste in the comment box, and the link / img tools won't work for me (they get stuck and I have to reload the page). Anyways I found a NECA terminator 2 toy for $20 on ebay, it stands 7 inches tall. It would be menacing with the right pose and some weapons.
  17. The upside of the 6" size is that certain other conversions can be fielded, such as ones from MAcFarlane Spawn toys. Ordo won't let me paste a link or image right now, but you can google "Techno Spawn / Code Red" for one example. These will be better for chaos allies but I'm sure there are some gundam type things out there too. I found some interesting results searching for "1/12 robot" to get some 6"-7" specimens. Forbidden Planet robot, anyone?
  18. I hate to be a downer, but a 12" Crusader model standing in for a 6"-7" or so Knight model is asking a bit much. I think the 15mm Crusaders / Mortis' will be a much close fit, with some scenic basing to give an extra inch or two of height.
  19. I'd recommend buying an Empire Flagellants box and convert using some guard / necromunda / misc. bits. That will get you halfway there.
  20. Reminds me of Battletech. I'd prefer the missile pods on top of the hull instead of on poles, but it's not a big deal.
  21. What I like to do is highlight super bright, then do a medium to heavy wash, then use my finger or a towel to take the wash off of the raised detail. Then I will often do a second, sometimes darker wash towards the very bottom of the model. In some cases I will go back and pick out a few more highlights with a very bright color, concentrating on corners and top level raised detail. I wasn't talking about the pinup, although I love the idea.
  22. Please please please. I have a large, kinda broken Optimus Prime that I bought at Goodwill just waiting to be worked on, but I want to see rules and model sizes before I really dig in.
  23. Seriously a huge improvement over the basic static pose Dreadknight. I'll keep my nitpicks to myself since you did such a good job.
  24. I'd definitely recommend the DA robed bodies, I have a squad in my 1,000 sons splinter warband and they look great. Otherwise you'll need a bunch of tabards which I guess you could make with greenstuff. Basic chaos marine parts work fine too. if you get the robed bodies from the GW site, look for the accessory upgrade sprue instead of the box set. It looks you save a lot and all you are missing is the bases (as far as I can tell.)
  25. It's plenty. Don't bother with the carapace amour upgrade, no one cares that the DF troopers look more armored than a guardsmen. The nice thing about the DF guys is that the main guns could be passed off as lasguns, hot shot las, bolters or stormbolters. The accessory kit is fun since you get three "big dog" cargo robots and a ton of pouches and random options.
