  1. PCS' can't order themselves to Bring it Down, that's another reason to stick the melta spam on a CCS in a vehicle. I think you're spending a lot of points on upgrades that could get you another tank, or even two.
  2. Meh, maybe it's the posing and the bright clean paintjobs but they don't look very menacing. I would like to see the Ogryns in dirty white tank tops though, and jeans. The respirator head is fun and Nork is a winner. The Hydra is great, but if in the rules it still has skyfire but not interceptor I'll stick with the two conversions I have. Heavy support is crowded enough.
  3. I would be a fan of the Taurox if those treads weren't so ridiculously high up. That aspect of it makes it look cartoony. I like the scion chaps but they are really close to SM scouts. That commander character though has some style. He looks a little retro like somebody Buck Rogers or Flash Gordon would fight. The new Ogryns should be sweet.
  4. I don't hate Tau anymore, but they annoyed me for a long time. To GW's credit they didn't release too many new army factions / races over the years and have kept it reasonable. We could have been inundated with hybrid animals like lizardmen, space skaven, etc. I'd still like to see AdMech, Rogue Trader, and Genestealer cults as proper armies, even within the same book. This is a great looking army! I'm lucky to have seen it in person a couple times. I love themed forces.
  5. Pax, you're the odd one out of place. Cult limos date back to rogue trader, I know since a genestealer cult was my first army. They are more canonical than the entire Tau book if you ask me.
  6. Yeah that's a tall order, best of luck finding them. What's the project?
  7. On second thought this topic is a bit redundant with another 40k balance thread so maybe comments should go there.
  8. All comers lists are in trouble. Let's say I tried to get ready for the new environment: 1/4 of your points to anti-air 1/4 to anti superheavies / strongholds 1/4 of your points to stop death stars 1/4 of your points for scoring troops I know there is some overlap (FW lascannon Sabre defense platforms for example), but let's just look at broad strokes. An opponent with an extreme army can focus fire on the 1/4 designed to counter that area, and if successful is very likely to win. Maybe I am over-simplifying, but it seems like I can't build a good list any more to deal with all these different kinds of threats. Maybe when you try to build in so many counters for everything it gets to the point where your army has little focus and a regular 5th edition style MSU or horde list from 5th takes you out. As for keeping up with rules, I've given up. $50 hardbacks are way too much, especially when I have about 8 different armies to update... let alone getting opponent army rules.
  9. http://www.frontlinegaming.org/2014/02/27/calling-luke-skywalker/ (Grrrr, Ordo still won't accept pasting and the add link box won't work) Frontline gaming had an interesting article on 6th edition Death Stars and how they are possibly ruining game balance. Thoughts?
  10. I told you guys size matters. So which would you rather see, a short proxy or a tall proxy? Does it matter if we try to get a community consensus or does everyone just work it out case by case? Go ahead and spike up that model WestRider. You could take Renegade IG as main, CSM or daemons as allies, and a Knight in a detachment. Also, it would look badass.
  11. Yeah if you look at a 6" action figure in a toy store they are about $15-$20, and some are almost as detailed as minis. $140 is outrageous for a kit that should have and could have been bigger.
  12. Out of the power armor books DA and Chaos always get hosed, while vanilla Space Marines get the most options. White Scars are brutal, and they will be even better if consolidating into assaults comes back.
  13. Disembarking can be a good way to get on a hill or other terrain obstacle without having to roll best of 2d6.
  14. Hmmm maybe it's time to build a giant Tyranidesque "Knight" creature.
  15. Without the wings they could be passed off as old plaguebearers. Those would be fun Chaos Daemon harpies or (whatever they are called.)
  16. Doesn't it dry shiny? I got some Army Painter anti-shine recently but haven't tried it.
  17. If I had no models and was starting from scratch I'd go for marine bikers. but the downside is your list will look very homogenous.
  18. Up to 6" means the whole base has to be within 6" of the access point.
  19. GW is saying they are six inches tall on their main site. I tried to link but Ordo still won't let me paste and the link box thingy is broken. Don't super heavies ignore terrain basically? Would they still have their I reduced, I'm not sure they would.
  20. IG are a great combo for the guard Grey Knights. The quad gun and aegis wall would supplement that kind of alliance well. As allies, IG are incredibly flexible since you can take advantage of platoons and vehicle squadrons to squeeze more stuff into Force Org slots.
  21. I have 31 teams and 5 sabre platforms, is that close enough?
  22. I think I had the right idea with the Assassins. My mistake was not fielding enough of them since I also had 20 expensive Purifiers. Next GK army will feature 4-5 Henchmen squads including some warrior "bullet catchers," 2-3 Crusaders per squad, and a meltagun or two. I'm going to ditch the Land Raider to buy two more squads and with the Purifiers reduced or gone I have room for a Stormraven or two.
  23. Ohh I couldn't hold out any longer, I got the 8.5" Leviathan. $86 shipped right now. I was dead wrong about the size issue and my incoming 4.5" Mortis Leviathan will be a Dreadknight after all. The sale lasts for one more week. http://dreamforge-games.com/collections/everything
