  1. This weeks special challenge is one of technique.

Try and use a painting technique that you don't feel confident with.  Use that airbrush you aren't skilled with, try some edge highlights or shading or freehand a cool symbol onto a cloak. Maybe do a mud effect on th he base.

Post a picture of your attempt and what you were practicing, the model does not have to be done. As long as it shows off your chosen technique.

Also feel encouraged to offer practical advice if you excel at something that a person is struggling with.

Happy lobbying and forget to post a list of everything you h as very completed over the course of this challenge!!

  2. Alright, its week 4 of the painting challenge. 1 month already!!!

To qualify, anything you didn't finish last week or that you started this week.

This weeks special challenge is a speed painting challenge.  See how well you can paint any single model in 1 hour! It doesn't have to be all at once, but try to stick the to the 1 hour time limit.  If the model didn't start base primed and you are spending the hour to make improvements include a before and after of your efforts.

Post a running tally of everything you have assembled or painted during the challenge so far.

  3. Alright, its week 3 of the painting challenge.

To qualify, anything you didn't finish last week or that you started this week.

This weeks special challenge is to find the oldest unpainted or unfinished single model project you have. That model that has been languishing in the bottom of a bin, and get them table ready. Good enough so that you can claim they are done.

Extra bonus points, show a picture of the before and after for this old model.

Post a picture of the finished old model next to the model you are proudest of from the painting frenzy so far.

Post a running tally of everything you have assembled or painted during the challenge so far.

We are currently on week 4 of the challenge, see the applicable post for weekly challenges.

Given that we are all stuck inside, let's make the most of it and get through a bunch of those painting projects you no longer have an excuse to put off.

The rules are simple each week, post in this thread what you assembled or painted that week.  At the end of the week(Sunday as at midnight give or take) we'll decide who won each of 4 categories. Also include information on what you were going for or anything other details you wish!

For this week anything you have already painted for the escalation league can be included, but take the extra few days for touch up.

    1. Most models assembled

    2. Most impressive assembly

    3. Most models painted and based(3 color min)

    4. Best painted model.

I will make a new thread each sunday, week 1 will last through the 22nd.

Get painting, when things get more normal we'll do a big show off totalling everything you got done!

GW’s decision to launch it with a $300 deluxe boxed set and then wait nearly two years before rolling out an “regular” boxed set (which still costs $150!) probably did not help it gain much traction...

Yeah, yeah, I know that hobby gaming is a luxury good. I’m usually the first to shrug my shoulders and say “if they’ve got customers willing to pay that much it, then that price is fair.” But, well, when you set the price at wagyu steak levels, you won’t sell as many as if it were ground chuck price.

I don't get why it costs so much more than battletech
