Heck, the article actually teases that it’s possible to run KNIGHTS in Combat Patrol, so fitting the Glorious Banana Boys into it shouldn’t be too hard. Winning with them might be.

Under their current point values and power levels, I can fit a Shield-Captain on foot and two three-man units of Custodian Guard into the Combat Patrol format (23 PL / 416 Points). Although these guys are going to be tough as nails, it will be extremely difficult to compete in the previewed Incisive Attack mission:

But that’s kind of the nature of the beast when you opt to play an army were your basic grunt has stats to rival most other faction’s Special Characters.

I dunno, you'll have 3 units, most of the preview patrols had 4. Since you don't need to squat on the objectives seems you'll have a decent shot.

Combat Patrol preview is up too. Missions and force organization charts specifically tailored to smaller format games of 500 Points.

(Not coincidentally, I’m sure, each “half” of the Indomitus box fills out a Combat Patrol... and so do most of the Start Collecting boxes.)

Looks like you can do your custodes combat patrol!

I have to come to really enjoy AoS. I think it is way more fun than 40k. I'm building my 3rd and 4rth AoS armies while quarantine is going. Im really looking forward to play more of it and some warcry. Anyone who wants to play at the clubhouse, hit me up.

I'll hit you up next time I can make sunday.  I have a warcry warband and a small slaves to darkness force.

The current rules for targeting apply, with the addition of: The character must be within 3" of a vehicle/monster, or within 3" of a unit with at least 3 models. See the big "Look Out, Sir" box.

Ah, nice, that 3 inch addition will make it feel much better

I'm glad they're changing the character targeting rules. That was, by far, the worst thing about 8th edition (in conjunction with ITC prevalence of LoS blocking terrain).

On several occasions, my shooting phase had to be skipped entirely because the only models I could see were characters, but there were closer, unseen models that somehow therefore preventing me from shooting.

It made no narrative sense, didn't seem to be supported by the rules, yet I've been told many times "that's just how it works".

Thank God it no longer "works" like that.

How do the rules previewed differ from the current rules for targeting purposes?

Eliminating the -1 to hit for heavy weapons on vehicles? Oh, thank you GW! Now my Land Speeders might not be useless again! And mech guard suddenly got a lot more dangerous, too. Actually, pretty much all transports with heavy weapons became nastier.

Don't forget all the air planes!

BLAST weapons are called out as not being able to be used within 1", so it seems unlikely flamers will be BLAST... at least according to the Goonhammer article I'm reading.

I'd say flame throwers are a bad choice of melee weapon

  8. Welcome to the end of the Third Month of the Cabin Fever Hobby Frenzy Challenge!!!!!!!

This weeks special challenge is to work on your basing skills.  Get creative and make an awesome base for a model(that may or may not be painted).

    Good luck and happy hobbying.!

I'm going to leave this thread as the last thread, so keep posting your progress here.  I look forward to seeing you all again.  It is my hope that when the club reopens when might be able gather all of our freshly painted models into a giant diorama of progress!!

I'd like to point out that there are some painting competitions out there that have actual prize support.

  9. I think the problem is that decreasing points is more fun for players than increasing them.

If my crappy unit gets better I might try and use it again and be happy.

If your strong units gets expensive, I might not notice and you will be sad.
