  1. I picked up a bunch of bases from Alien Lab in anticipation of Sisters, but ended up making custom bases instead (for reasons which now seem questionable after doing like 50 of them...). I have: 4 packs of 4x 32mm bases 3 packs of 5x 25mm bases 1 50mm base Retail it was $49, but I'd be happy to send them to a good home for cheaper. Say, $35?
  2. The current rules for targeting apply, with the addition of: The character must be within 3" of a vehicle/monster, or within 3" of a unit with at least 3 models. See the big "Look Out, Sir" box.
  3. Well, from what we've seen (at least that I've seen) it's: Hold one, hold two, hold more. So Objective Secured is definitely a thing, and then all of the bonus objectives we've seen have been that, "give up an action" (? wording) thing, and then in addition the scoring in your command phase only, so I think Troops might be more important than previously. Note that, there's no "kill one, kill more" but that instead holding is even more important. It may not be literally "only troops", but it seems like you'd best sort out the things that hold objectives, and Ob Sec is a thing, and you'd also best sort out units that you can sacrifice shooting/whatever-an-action-is for to score. Edit: Also, the "score in your command phase" starts to address the thing that "kill one/more" did in ITC format. For Kill Team, we adopted the "kill one/more" primary rule because the "hold one/two/more" along with the available Arena secondaries lead to an incredibly boring format, with several factions simply not being able to reasonably compete. I think that this "score in your command phase" will likely serve a similar purpose while not overly-favoring killing. Should be interesting.
  4. I hope D. Eldar and Ynnari get some detachment love (it was said that D. Eldar would, in one of the streams, hopefully Ynnari get to either mix elves in a detachment or some other love). It looks like Imperial Assassins will get the same kind of rules that Inquisitors get, you can add one without breaking your "same faction thingys". Then you can spend 2 CP to swap that assassin for a different one! Time to get converting...
  5. It seems like points costs are increasing by ~20% though, so planning a 1500pt list could be the right way to go, and then you've got a bit of head-room once we know the points costs.
  6. Just...as a point of order, it is not at all required to follow ITC mission pack in order to accumulate ITC points. It wasn't prior to 9th, and it's still not going forward. You could, and can, and will be able to run a 40k or Kill Team event, with core missions only, at 1000 points, refusing to use any chapter approved books even, and have it count for ITC points. You can run Kill Team at 300 points with completely made-up missions, and it will count for ITC points. There is zero requirement to use ITC missions, or a certain points level, or anything else to count as an ITC tournament. The participants will get ITC points. But progressing beyond that... ...this year I flew to Vegas, went to the FLG office (after I helped set up streaming gear) and helped friends who were the TOs for Kill Team at LVO paint, assemble, and transport the terrain needed for the Kill Team tournament. FLG messed up our terrain support, big time, (and that was unintentionally-[big bad swear word]ty on their part) that's why we had to drive back to Vegas at 2am, 4 people in a Prius + 5 big bins of terrain in the trunk and on our laps, with all the windows down to prevent being overcome by fumes from the spray paint, the night before LVO started. I built so many ork towers. I have the pictures. It was cold as [big bad swear word]. We were tired. Our fingers, and cloths, had superglue caked on them. It's just...this isn't some grand scheme for money. You know what TOs across the world are going to do with their existing 6x4 mats? It's going to be 3 or 4 crazy sumbitches cutting/taping mats at midnight, before the tournament, trying to sort out how to make it all fit onto tables. They'll wake up and be at the event before it opens. They'll somehow sort it out. That's how the sausage is made. So I'm just gonna let this go, after this, but...I just wanted to say my peace on what exactly goes on when you're trying to do organized play; what actually happens trying to put on an event. It's bonkers. It's absurd. It's logistics of an MDF production line. It's the event-coordinators at the property saying, "Wait what?" It's really tired people who got promised one thing, then (for no reason rooted in malice or duplicity) got handed something else a day or two before an event. The [big bad swear word] happens. But the deadline is set, and 9am looms; and it is unmerciful. Trash talk Reece from FLG, or Mike from NOVA, whatever. I don't have a dog in this fight; but this is how the sausage is made. It's chaos. It's logistics. It's volunteers. But it's a pure flight of fantasy that it's some kind of grand scheme, because the reality is that it's madness that only barely gets pulled off on schedule, and nobody gets rich off of it.
  7. Ah, yes, right. My mistake. My point was mainly this isn't a "throw everything out to play suggested size". There's no reason at all to think that a slightly bigger play mat or table is a money grab, when you can just...use less of the thing you already have. Now you have more room for beer and rolling dice.
  8. But...it's a reduction of size, not an increase. You can just put some electrical tape or something on the mats you have, or cut them down if you're feeling froggy. It's not a "throw out your mat and/or boards" you...just use the same thing and put a ruler down on one side to adjust the available space. If any intent, beyond logistics, is there it's likely that reducing the size of the play field is both to a) have a reduced play area to go along with the increase in points costs (and therefor fewer models on the table) and b) as part of trying to make melee armies more potent.
  9. Always look first to logistics 😉 Nicely broken down @Ish
  10. I think that if the terrain rules, and the new missions, and universal competitive format are all successful, then what we're going to see is that future balance changes, and new/rewritten rules are going to be fantastic. Not to mention that, according to the play testers that are TOs, the format will stay at 2000 points, even though point costs are increasing across the board. That means faster games, and a lower bar for entry. More players playing more games; the same kind of games and missions with the same terrain rules and guidelines. That's good stuff that may not show its full value in the first few months, but will pay off in spades. Can't wait to get my Crusade on. I'm unreasonably hopeful and excited for that. Edit: Also did anyone else catch that you score objectives in your next command phase, from that version of the 4 Pillars Mission they posted? That means a lot less of, "Surprise I run out and grab stuff and you don't get a chance to counter-play."
  11. Their fiscal year starts in June, IIRC. Edit: Yeah, June 3rd 2018, June 2nd 2019, so that either means "the first Monday in June starts the year" or "the first Sunday in June ends the year". Upon the advice of my cats, I do not feel like investigating more into things and will instead pet the cats.

  13. Looks like it's a solid evolution, and if all the PA books were indeed designed with it in mind, it should be in a pretty good state at launch. Curious about the digital rules, since I usually buy the Apple Books versions anyway. In any case, an app and better rule management is welcome. Edit: Looks like ITC is adopting the 9th edition rules, and dropping their custom rules (including terrain), and that the new terrain rules are "really good" (NOVA may do as well I just haven't seen it).
  14. I have, I bought some banshees and scorpions for kill team. Great resin, great models. Hardly any cleanup. I'd make sure they're still shipping and whatnot due to COVID but they were great when I ordered from them. It does take a while to arrive, just be forewarned. Size comparison
  15. I echo what Andy said. I have 3 W&N brushes that are over a year old and still sharp as day 1. I use the Masters Brush Soap, and I keep the brushes well cared for, never put them in paint while dry (or the capilary action may draw the paint up into the ferrule) and if I think the paint is creeping up too high, I rinse them out right away. I do use them for acrylic washes sometimes, since the job of a brush is to get the pigment where it needs to be...but again *never* when dry, that wash will just go all up in there and mess things right up. Going to be trying some different brush cleaner that's a soak-job for naturals and synthetics once it arrives. I love me a pack of Blicks cheap synthetic brushes for metalics and enamels.
  16. I am most excited about the Shadowseer. So remember, there's also a 1 CP strategem to *add* a Pivotal Role, and you get to keep your original ability. So I'm looking at Shadowseer warlord, with added Veil of Illusion (you count as being 6" farther away from enemies for the purposes of shooting) and then the Shadowstone relic, increase psyhich range and aura range by 3", using the Player of Twilight trait for CP regen. So now it's a 9" bubble of -1 to Wound, counting as 6" farther away to shoot, and then your strategem to make the -1 to Wound for infantry count for everything gets more powerful, your psychic abilities get longer range. I'm thinking I'll definitly have a Drukhari battalion for 204 points to get a cheap 5 CP and access to Agents of Vect.
  17. Awesome, thanks for the offer. I may take you up on that. Right now I got some resin tablets, and some small plastic I-beams, and I'm going to have a look at what I can do with these so far.
  18. In the words of their Canoness, “Very loyal, and very cool.” Not at all heretical, or Khorn-curious.
  19. I’m like a week or two behind on challenges, but I’m trying to do decent highlighting, and add texture to the cloth using a technique that I have not used before. So far I have learned that slow strokes are bad, they’re wavey. Fast strokes are better but can be too thick. But a nice “turn the brain off and gently brush” stroke is the best.
  20. I'm currently at a loss for basing my Sisters of Battle jetpack units. I did a test with putting small magnets onto the flight stands and then into the backpacks. It didn't really work acceptably. I also tried to make a kind of "chain tornado" with hobby chain but that also didn't work well (but would have been so cool). So I'd really like a source for small-ish building bits that I could have them stepping on. I'm also going to make some rocks and rubble piles as well, but it would sure be nice to not have to scratch build like...30 of them. Does anyone have any ideas?
  21. Ah yeah, definitely Deadly Descent I've used each time. Embodied Prophesy also for sure, that's a hell of an aura for 1 CP. I've been planning 2 Battalions, but part of that was just that when escalation started, I couldn't get what I needed for Bloody Rose. But yeah, just because there are so many good strategems I think I want more CP. I'm looking at 2 Battalions and maybe a Vanguard (or possibly the Battle Sanctum). VH is good, I also think there's some tricky things that could be done with a Sacred Rose warlord for cycling through miracle dice, ie: I advance, miracle 1, now I get a new miracle dice. I shoot, miracle 2, now I get a new miracle dice. Etc.
  22. For some reason that reminded me of the Monty Python "Scottsman on a Horse"...except it's a giant tank!
