Brother Glacius
Just wondering if these were any good or not. The model looked pretty cool.
VonVilkee
Been using the Stalker I like it at the point cost. But it has had this problem with getting shaken at just the wrong moment. I'm switching over to the hunter this week...
Brother Glacius
I have a salamander force that I've been collecting for, it is a ground pounder army, no fliers or hover vehicles of any sort. So this seems like a really good fit to give me some air defense without having to add an air unit.
Guest Mr. Bigglesworth
Pair of stalkers for 150 decent air defense and as long as you don't need other heavy choices.
VonVilkee
If your salamanders are using Vulkan and lots of Melta (multi Melta specifically) I'd skip the specific anti air. I found the reroll to hit snaps with the better anti tank rules to be better through 6th.
WestRider
The best Anti-Air at this point is Flyers of your own, but failing that, the Stalker/Hunter are as good as any other ground-bound solution. I have a slight preference for the Stalker because I like the reliability of multiple shots and re-rolls.
Steel Angel
Could always go with a Mortis Comp. Dread. or it's little brother the Mortis Dread.
Brother Glacius
it was at Btown so I picked it up. I go for cool models over effectiveness. So as long as it is useful, yay!
VonVilkee
You can build the kit to be interchangeable so good choice sir on the purchase!
VonVilkee
Which is why I've been using it, but with the change to the vehicle damage chart and the fact that I get shaken before unloading on that pesky flyer, I'm gonna try the hunter. I figure even if I miss the initial it could swing around and with it being ap 2 it can one shot flyers. The Stalker was better against FMC when you could ground them mid phase for the rest of the force but now I want to actually wound not just hit. Andi can get a Melta bomb with the savings! No kidding, those "little" Mortis Dreads are nothing to sneeze at. Tyranids, especially, despise these things.
VonVilkee
Okay really liked the hunter, far better than the Stalker in this current meta of super tough vehicles and FMC having to land before charging. Only thing that really got me was the heldrakes apparent invulnerability. My opponent made every invulnerable saved I forced. Either way think I'm going back to ignoring flyers, I'd recommend the hunter over the Stalker currently tho. Still think for you with sallies take Vulkan and consider part of his points as anti air twin linked Melta every where is the best anti air I've run since 6th started.
