fluger
The only way I could run a Highlander event is if I radically alter my armies. And this is because I tend to have repetitious Troop choices. For instance, my Orks have 3 units of Boyz and one unit of Grots. My IG have two units of infantry platoons. pretre
You can repeat if you take all of the available troops. So Boys - Grots - Boys - Grots - Boys.
fluger
So, I'd have to buy 10 more grots... :(
WestRider
I have the same issue. Tend to lean on one thing pretty heavily, especially in Troops. Let's get wacky, tho: SW CAD Bjorn the Fell-Handed SW Dread, 2xTL Autocannon Murderfang, Lucius Drop Pod 5 GH, Plasma, WGPL w/Combi-Plasma, Plasmaback 5 BC, Flamer, StormWolf w/Multi-Meltas StormFang w/Lascannon, SkyHammer Iron Hands Allies Master of the Forge, Conversion Beamer Venerable Dread, 2xTL Autocannon 5 Tacs, Lascannon, Rhino Ironclad Dread, Heavy Flamer, Drop Pod 1850 on the dot if I'm remembering the cost for the Lucius Pattern Drop Pod right. generalripphook
Itd be easy to take a huge foot slogging Guard list.
fluger
Not really, you'd have to intersperse vets and regular platoons. I don't run vets. :*(
PourSpelur
So, I'd have to buy 10 more grots... :( *digs through back pocket*Found 10 Grots! If you don't mind albino Grots I have a bunch you could use...along with a ton of other stuff;)

You can't take two drop pods. Oh, lucius. Clever.

Yeah, Highlander can be interesting (even if it's not the magical solution to the game's problems it's often touted as), but for many armies it makes them essentially unable to field any meaningful number of troops. When I'm doing something like Tau or Necrons, which tend to run minimal troops anyways, I don't really care, but it's pretty harsh on a lot of other armies. You can repeat if you take all of the available troops. So Boys - Grots - Boys - Grots - Boys. You can take ONE repeat if you've used all your available troops. So if you took a unit of Boyz and a unit of Grots, you could take one additional unit of Boyz, but no more.
fluger
I get the goal of a Highlander style event (SPAM IS DUMB LOL!), but I really don't see the appeal that much. And this is coming from someone that outside of my troops choices would have perfect Highlander lists (I don't have any repeats in my other slots at all!). pretre
How many squads did you bring to the guardian cup?2. But this is supposed to be a softer list... Also several of my sister lists use a bit more than that.
generalripphook
It screws over guard.
pretre
It screws over guard. Not that bad, just take a vet squad and two platoons. Unless you mean mech guard. But mech everything gets screwed.

AbusePuppy
Not that bad, just take a vet squad and two platoons. Unless you mean mech guard. But mech everything gets screwed. Depending on how you read it, you can only barely take one Platoon. Remember, each "sub-choice" in the Platoon is a separate thing, so you'd have to take a Veteran Squad, a PCS, a Conscript Squad, an SWS, and HWS and then, having filled all your requirements, you could take two Infantry Squads to eke out a legal Platoon.
