wisetiger7
So I probably touched on this before on another post somewhere. I originally wanted to go with Steel Phalanx. I love greek mythology, so that appealed to me greatly. However, on my first order I knew I wanted to pick up Sun Tze just to paint because I loved the model so much. Then I saw the Zuyong Invincible, and added that to my cart too. And after 5 more minutes, four motorcycles, six blisters, and four boxes later, all of a sudden my shopping cart was full of Yu Jing. I guess that decision was made for me. So I finally decided to put up a list. Yu Jing ────────────────────────────────────────────────── Group 1 10 0 0 SUN TZE Lieutenant (Advanced Command) Boarding Shotgun, 2 Nanopulsers, Flash Pulse / Pistol, Knife. (60) HAC TAO (Executive Order) HMG, Nanopulser / Pistol, DA CCW. (2 | 69) CELESTIAL GUARD Hacker (Hacking Device) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 21) CELESTIAL GUARD (Kuang Shi Control Device) Combi Rifle + Light Smoke Grenade Launcher / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 13) BÀO TROOP (X Visor) Combi Rifle + Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (29) TOKUSETSU EISEI Doctor (MediKit) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (14) YÁOZĂO Electric Pulse. (3) TOKUSETSU KOHEI Engineer Combi Rifle, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (14) YÁOZĂO Electric Pulse. (3) HÙSÒNG Yaókòng HMG / Electric Pulse. (1 | 25) WÈIBĪNG Yaókòng Combi Rifle, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (16) TIGER SOLDIER Spitfire / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 32) 5.5 SWC | 299 Points Open with Army 5 I started with Sun Tze because I love the model and I love his rules. He twists things up for his enemy's deployment, while adding some more advantages to his own, plus the extra command token is nice. Above average stats across the board with good ARM and BTS and crazy high WIP, along with 2W and NWI make him a solid choice. Obviously LT. Next up is the Hac Tao. I love this guy. High stats across the board with TO Camo and high ARM/BTS. Throw on Executive Order and the obvious Sun Tze Lieutenant choice goes out the window. I can keep him with XO or take it off on a separate list to keep the enemy on their toes trying to figure out which one is the current lieutenant after I reveal him. Celestial Guards make cheap, efficient hackers. WIP 14 standard. Mainly for Fairy Dust for the heavies. I added a Kuang Shi Controller just for the Smoke Grenade Launcher. I love the Bao Troops. I've already experienced how much of a pain TO Camo is from the other end of the barrel, so having a model with MSV2 was almost a must for me. Couple that with decent range of a Combi Rifle and XVisor to help with distance mods and Discover, and this guy makes a great counter in both Active and ARO. I included both Tokusetsu models, doctor and engineer, along with a servant for each. They're mainly for if the heavies go down, but also for them being specialists. I love the idea of a Total Reaction HMG with a 360 Visor, so I had to go with the Husong Yaokong. I added the Weibing simply because I had the model. At first. Then I delved into the plethora of extra skills and equipment this model had for just 16 points, and it was a revelation. Sniffer + Sensor is great for helping with all Camos. Coupled with Deactivator, I can get by Mines. Sat-Lock to counter Camo, Forward Observer for Specialist and blinding AROs, and repeater for increasing Hacker usefulness. Such a good model for the price. It's not stellar at any one thing, but has a lot of well-rounded utility to make him useful in some way each game. Adding the Tiger Solder was iffy for me. First, I love the model, and I love an aggressive drop troop with a spitfire. But reserving an order just for him to come on the table was a little hard to justify in a 10 order army. With TO Camo on the Hac Tao and reserving his order for Hidden Deployment, and the Tiger reserving his order too, that leaves 8 orders for the pool. Cut that to 6 with an enemy command token and that makes for a weak Turn 1. However, my reasoning for including it were almost as strong. A jumper with a spitfire can be key to taking out difficult enemy troops, maybe even an enemy LT if lucky. Second, Sun Tze can turn the LT order into a regular order, so I can beef up the order pool by one, as well as dominate the deployment phase. On top of that, Sun Tze's extra command order can be used for a coordinated order for laying down suppression fire. 4 troopers on suppression fire (probably one with MSV2 and XVisor), along with the HMG Total Reaction bot would be enough to survive the first turn with limited orders. I recognize this is a defensive list. A lot of what this list entails are contingencies on what the enemy might bring, and doing well in ARO. However, I think the staying power of the models, along with the sheer firepower and utility give this army the potential to be a good all-comers list. Comments, suggestions, criticisms, etc. are welcome! A side note: I calculated all the models I had and found that I had 963 points of Yu Jing, wysiwyg, with a few more blisters on the way. Good lord...
NakedPanda
ISS suffers from obvious Lt syndrome, so Sun Tze offers a great opportunity to run an unzipped Lt and dang does he do a great job! That is of course assuming you take a try at the sectorialPS ISS is super fun~
Don't Panic
drop troops with heavy guns are awesome though... especially since yours has mimetism and bs13... funny how we did the opposite cause i almost did ISS and then went with aleph lol but more cause i have a robot/ai problem... ISS might be my next go. either that or the crazy scots. like your list. has some nice elements to it. and obvious lt isnt the worst when you have mimestism and essentially 3 wounds lol. its worse when they have 1W with NWI. then they can straight up die to special ammo types like most of mine ha
wisetiger7
So I recently put together a bunch of tokens using some methods recommended in another post. First I used the token generator to create the tokens, then printed them out onto cardstock. I punched them out using a 1" hole punch that I got off Amazon, then topped them off with these 1" clear epoxy stickers, also from Amazon. This was the result. The method worked really well. I did my research and noticed that some people who used this same technique found that the epoxy stickers didn't fit well with the 1" hole punch or that the stickers yellowed after time. The stickers I listed above had good reviews and were described as "High Def" so I picked them. They're a little more expensive than some other brands, but they fit well and are crystal clear, so they are proven to work. I have Amazon Prime, so everything took two days to ship. Pretty quick. Couple of tips: #1: If you are using the Token Generator I linked above, when you generate them, and you have google chrome set to default, it will open in the web browser. Print them out directly from here. If you save the pdf, then open it and print it, the tokens will be slightly smaller than the original. This will cause you to get a very slight white ring around your tokens when you punch them out. If you print them out from the chrome browser, the tokens will be slightly bigger than your 1" hole punch, however they have a thick black edge around them, so when you punch them out, you will leave some of that black edge out, making it a good size. #2: Use cardstock. I did a test run with a regular sheet of paper. I just punched something out from a mailer, and while it still worked fine, you have to use your fingers to align the paper token up with the epoxy sticker, and it helps if you have some rigidity with the token during the application process. #3: Buy at least 200 stickers (quantity 2 if you use my link above). I initially bought one order of 100 thinking that I'd just make tokens for what I need with my army. The problem is you can have things done to you that are outside your army's abilities. It's always better to be prepared. I'll probably end up buying another 100 just for the hell of it (total 300). #4: Doublesided. On the test piece (the one with regular stock paper), I applied an epoxy sticker on both sides, making it slightly easier to pick up regardless of what side it was flipped to. It's pretty cool. Not very practical, resource-wise. And definitely not needed at all, as the tokens are easy to pick up regardless. But just a thought.
wisetiger7
So I've started putting together my stuff from Warsenal. Stuff is pretty easy to assemble.
Ogre Seth
your method for doing the tokens is awesome, best i have seen yet. I would like to do the same, but I thought I would ask.. any chance you could let some of us club-mates borrow the circle punch? I bet eric would be glad to lock it up at wow for you for safe keeping till you pick it up. Thanks, Seth

Thanks, Seth Not sure how much Tiger paid for his, but I got mine at Michaels (hobby chain across the US) for $8. That being said, I doubt if it will see use for much else, though my wife does do craft-stuff.
wisetiger7
I loaned it out to Muskrat. Once he returns it to me, I'd be happy to leave it at WoW for club use. If you want your own, I bought it for $7.03 off amazon; it is now $6.59 on amazon currently.
NakedPanda
May I also strongly suggest the Lu Duan Remote? That lovable bastard has done truly incredible things for me at least!
wisetiger7
I'm not sure how to use Holoprojector L2 very well yet... I'll have to read up on it.
NakedPanda
I always use it for the decoys. Much like in total recall, you can trick your opponent in to firing on the wrong one! I find it to be super tough for the opponent to handle that when my declare that move short skill that brings all three in to HFT range, and their ARO has a one in three chance of not hitting the right one. Or expose the decoys to some camo markers in HFT range with your second short move skill. They will be at risk of an intuitive attack next turn and might take the chance to fire on the decoys, then next order pop out and fuego away with the real one! Lu Duan is suuuuuuper great
wisetiger7
Do you have to have three of the models?

Don't Panic
Sweet yea warsenal really does have nice terrain. Although, I'd much prefer to deal with the hdf than the plastic crap I just assembled yesterday on some towers. Plastic is annoying in comparison for fitting things correctly .. NakedPanda
Oh I just use bases with numbers on them. One model and two more bases I write R, 1, or 2 on my hand or something to designate which was real
wisetiger7
So I finished putting together my models listed in the OP, everything except the Spitfire Tiger Soldier that I will be picking up from Red Castle on Friday. I built the Boarding Shotgun Tiger Soldier as a proxy for now. I haven't based them yet, but will probably do that tonight. I will base them on the regular black bases that they come with, but will use minimal glue, just enough to be able to field them. I have clear acrylic bases I want to use after I paint them up, so I need to be able to remove the black bases at a later date. I like the acrylic bases because then A) I don't have to worry about painting up bases, and B) I don't have to worry about them not matching a new display board if I change things up. I've got a set of the 25mm, 40mm, and 55mm clear acrylic bases from amazon. The extra 40mm and 55mm bases I plan on using for various tokens/markers. For example, there's no way I'm going to be able to use 10 55mm bases, maybe 6 at most for my motorcycles and maybe a tag. But I can use the rest as dismounted motorcycle tokens. Same with the 25 40mm bases. I plan on using them as larger tokens like smoke grenade tokens with the dispersal arrows, etc. I'll use them much like the order tokens I made in a previous post above. I'll print them out from the Infinity Marker Sheet Creator with the option for making 40mm tokens, and then glue them face up on the underside of the tokens, much in the same vein as the order tokens with the clear epoxy stickers, to give them some heft. Obviously I don't have a 40mm or 55mm hole punch (believe me, I've looked), so I'll have to cut them out by hand. I was thinking of gluing the clear acrylics onto the sheet first, then using an exacto knife around the base as a guide to cut them out. I'll let you know how it goes once I get to that point.
wisetiger7
I glued all my minis on their regular bases. I kept the metal bar between their feet and made that the contact point to the base so I could easily separate the mini at a later date when I'm done painting them. Then I can glue them on to the clear acrylic bases. For the remotes (as they don't have metal bars to cut off at their feet, I used poster tack to stick them to their bases. Four points of contact is enough for the tack to adhere them to the bases, but easy enough to remove and clean prior to painting. I did some research to see if anyone else had done what I plan, and I found one example: I like the fact that it makes the mini appear not to have a base, making the figure look more dynamic in its environment. I'm also thinking about picking up some brass compass bars from Antenociti to indicate front arc for the minis. With the clear acrylic disc, it would give the impression of a floating front arc which might be cool.
Raindog
That is a great idea. Ogre Seth was talking about doing the same thing and maybe adding mini LEDs to the base.

Don't Panic
those front arc stickers are awesome yea... i love them. too bad they only work on the 90 deg angle bases :( which means most resin bases wont work for it...

wisetiger7
So I'm dredging up my old thread for a reason. Though I've been a proponent of moving from 8th to Infinity post mortem, I've missed the entire league season at Ordo! Ugh! I do have an excuse though. I got a new job! Better pay, more specialized. I'll be working at Reynolds throughout the month of November, finishing up my projects so I don't leave anything piled on for the next person. Starting December 1st, I'll be working at PPS, and scrambling to find a new place as my lease is up at the end of December. So I've put my hobbies aside during these hectic, crazy months!. Hopefully things will start to calm down in January. The good news is PPS is just a block north of the Rose Quarter, and the place that I hope to lease is a couple blocks east of the Rose Quarter. So I will be significantly closer to WOW. Better than driving a half hour in from East Gresham. So hopefully after the new year I will be more visible on scene than I have been of late. I still plan on making Rampage!
