Kingpin
So I have played about 4 games now and have almost everything needed to play the list I have made up. It is currently at 1725 points. I was going for 1750 so I have a few points left over maybe for some extra MGs or something. British 8th army Rifle Company (Italy) (Confident) (Veterans) Company HQ w/ jeeps Rifle Platoon with 3 rifle squads, PIAT on command Rifle Platoon with 3 rifle squads, PIAT on command 3 Universal carriers (Recce) Transport Section, eight 3-Tons Armored Platoon, 3 shermans (Confident) (Trained) Armored Platoon, 3 shermans (Confident) (Trained) Field Battery, four 25 pounders Medium Battery, two BL 5.5s Light Anti Aircraft Platoon, 4 Bofors The Shermans are Canadians and are only Trained as compared to the rest of the army. barca
I looked at something similar in the Overlord book. My advice is: Add Air Observation Post (p.98), Auster AOP for 25 points The AOP will boost the targeting coverage of your 2 arty batteries, and allow you to move your OP carriers more often. A note on the OPs, ground and air: All Guns Repeat!, p. 128 "The Repeated Bombardment must use the same spotting team as the original Artillery Bombardment..." xipetotec
There are no AOP's in Mid War. My only advice is to drop the transports. They're almost completely useless in FOW.
Brother Glacius
Mid-War rifles? you gotta get some churchills man. :)
Kingpin
I do love Churchills. But I play against some one who uses very big German guns. I don't know how long they would last.

Looking at wrong book. As for Churchill's, I second, that. Churches (better armor, Protected ammo, Wide tracks) will last longer than the early Sherms The Church III has good gun, ROF 3 and HE, even though shorter range. Depends on how much you use direct fire smoke. For MW Allied tanks vs. German guns, this doc should make the comparison easier: Mid-war Arsenals: Version Three Update http://www.flamesofwar.com/hobby.aspx?art_id=3806
xipetotec
Multiple more things: 1) Infantry company in Italy has to have 3 combat platoons. 2) You can't have Chruchills in the Italy Rifle Company 3) Churchills aren't really good against much aside from infantry. Depending on what he means by "very big german guns" FA 8 is a 4+ to bounce PAK40s at range which isn't that bad, better than a Sherman for sure. But then you get slow tank, so you're just taking more shots before you get into range with your wonderfully inadequate 24" range AT 10 FP 4 gun. With no smoke. Also they cost 410 points for 3 at CT. I'd rather take the shermans for 60 points less (or CV for 40 points more) any day. Plus side on churchills is they look cool.
Kingpin
I don't actually have the book for the army I was just using Easy Army to build the list. It says I only need two combat platoons and the 3rd is optional. But like I said I don't have the book so easy army could be wrong. The Germans where using a bunch of PAK40s and one squad of really big guns with like 1+ firepower or something.
Lord Hanaur
I do love Churchills. But I play against some one who uses very big German guns. I don't know how long they would last. That would be me. I play run of the mill Panzergrenadiers.

Lord Hanaur
Yes I like the tanks he has and he can smoke me out which is equally good for him. He's only played a couple games, so some of the little things in the game will bcome a lot more apparent to him with play. He's quite good at Wargames, so its just learning what things do. Once he gets it all, he will be a terror (I believe)
