Indeed it is,but for first time players I suggest just using the simple wound count or warscroll count,then they don't need anything more than just their warscrolls to try out the game...well,a published scenario is good to have too,hehe. The other army I really wanted to put together, but never could due to the old list restrictions, was a Wood Elf+Beastmen army. They just always seemed like natural allies, but GW never went that direction. Tree-men in particular, would work well with the natural creatures of the forests (which in AoS are fearsome beasts....)
