Tigermud
Hello all, I have been absent from gaming for a few months and am now on the search for players and games. I am interested in all types of games main ones are WarHammer fantasy, 40K and Sigmar, Flames of War, Star Wars X wing, D&D AL, and Pathfinder. I want to play Infinity, Shadowrun, Star Wars Armada and RPG. I also like board games as well. If there are people in the Clackamas County area looking for these groups or have groups started please let me know. Thanks, Tigermud
Brick Bungalow
Well, our game night isn't that far from the county line. Otherwise there is CloudCap and EpicGaming. Both Western Oregon Wargaming and Guardian Games are closeby in SouthEast and have weekly gaming events.
Torg
Depends on your location within Clackamas county... But everything brick stated holds true ... But if your on the far west side of Clackamas county then glimpse in Sherwood or anchient wonders are options. And I've seen rumblings about a new game store opening in Oregon city. Oh... Of course the GW Gamestore over in Eastport plaza.... Not sure but that's possibly not in Clackamas county. -d
barca
For Flames of War, lots going on. At GG, in PDX, we have regular FoW night every Thursday, 6-10 PM At Dice Age Games, in Vancouver, we have some people who can meet, by arrangement. Go to this area of the forum and post or lurk. http://www.ordofanaticus.com/index.php?/forum/10-flames-of-war/ We also have larger events in SEP, OCT and NOV: http://www.ordofanaticus.com/index.php?/topic/27114-fow-upcoming-events-map/ If you want to "ease" back into Flames Of War, then we can arrange some low-key battles that match your period and army type. Tigermud
Thanks guys, I am hoping to stir up interest in the Clackamas area. I still get into those stores from time to time. It is easier if I can stay in Clackamas due to traffic. Torg you are correct there is a store opening in Oregon City. They will be located in the Oregon City hill top area. That is were I will end up at and hope to find others to join. I do miss FoW barca. Thanks again guys, maybe I will see you in the OC soon. Torg
Oregon City will be pretty close for me - closer than all current locations aside from possibly Glimpses or Ancient Wonders. I work in Clackamas (next to Costco) - but live in Hubbard (south of Canby and Aurora on 99E or south of Wilsonville / Donald area on i-5. Or slightly north of Woodburn.) I am currently rebuilding my own interest in 40k, play Dark-Age and learning on Infinity ... as well as specialist GW game (Epic, Bloodbowl, BFG...). -d
barca
FYI, a "cheap gateway drug" for getting new people into FoW is Tanks! from GF9: http://www.gf9.com/Default.aspx?tabid=227&art_id=5136http://www.flamesofwar.com/gf9online_store.aspx?CategoryID=13629 It is also a low-end investment for a new game store: Starter box = $24.99 Plays kinda like X-Wing. Fits well into a small game store: Table space is less than FoW. TANKS! uses 3'x3'
Tigermud
What scale are they? That looks so cool. Might have to get the starter set. Who is carrying them in the local area? Maybe we can all get together and play a few games soon in the OC area. I know there is a hosted gaming event being held in Oregon City every other Saturday at Jimmy O's Pizza. deadwing34
I live in the SE Portland area and typically drive through Oregon City on my way home from work. I play 40k, Age or Sigmar and I love board games as well (got a nice collection of BG's). Hit me up if you want to get in a game sometime. TANKS! is 15mm, 1/100 scale. Same scale as Flames of War. You can use many of your Late-War FoW tanks with the rules and card. Box set comes with plastic sprues for 1 German Panther tank and two Sherman tanks. Each model comes un-assembled, but they are nice kits and go together easily. You do not have to paint them, as the plastic is the correct base color of each tank. GG had some starter boxes come in, but they sold out immediately. The can special order for u, no shipping cost. GG also had the expansion kits, but those also disappeared a few days after they hit the shelves.
Tigermud
The store should be open sometime in October. I think hour will be limited the first few couple weeks for the build out and stocking but will have complete hours by November. It will be nice to have a place to game and not fight the rush hour traffic to stores in Portland. Thanks barca, so it uses the same models as FoW. That good. Hope they game system works well as I love playing tank games.
barca
Plays fast. Simplified movement. Similar mechanics to FoW with tank aces skills. Flank shots happen more often. Use your special tank and crew skills to the max. More than 5 tanks on table, slows a bit. If more than 3 players or more than 5 tanks, try playing area 4'x4' Get starter box and reach into your FoW models. Lots of late war tank stat cards already in starter box.If u have LW tanks, you might not need to buy the expansion kits for a while. Keep us posted about new FLGS
