ZeroMoon17
With the release of the Bulge compilations I noticed they've put out a Firestorm: Lorianne Mini-Campaign. I know we had talked about doing Bulge battles this winter (I.e. post Tanksgiving) and was wondering if we were interested in doing this campaign. I know the Normandy campaign went a little too long and people lost interest, but I think that if we keep things moving we could have a lot of fun. Anyways, thoughts, ideas? http://www.flamesofwar.com/hobby.aspx?art_id=3303
fingolfen
Yes - as long as I can bring a more balanced force post-Tanksgiving... you know - with the squishy bits...
ZEKE
Sounds like you need to run a valentines day massacre with squishy bits only
Noland
If there was a way you could post a map to a thread, people of the North could join in on sections of the map. Being you guys are more regular in your playing, the general to coordinate the fight would have to be from your AO
ZeroMoon17
Zeke had an interesting idea, in that every player gets to control one token, and then all the remaining firestorm units will just roll off if they are not facing a player controlled force. I think it would add a lot of flavor to our battles as we'll be following our one company across the forests of the Loraine. Thoughts? Here are some examples of what we did: Firestorm-overlord-ordo-threads Turn 0 - D-Minus 1 and D-Day http://www.ordofanaticus.com/index.php?/topic/24837-fow-and-d-day-june-6th/?hl=firestorm Turns 1 and 2 http://www.ordofanaticus.com/index.php?/topic/25089-firestorm-overlord-continues-open-to-new-players-and-old-hands/?hl=firestorm Turn 3 http://www.ordofanaticus.com/index.php?/topic/25927-firestorm-overlord-turn-3/?hl=firestorm Turn 4 http://www.ordofanaticus.com/index.php?/topic/26915-fow-campaign-firestorm-overlord-turn-4/?hl=firestorm The campaign outcome was different from history. Hitler was pre-occupied with the Eastern front, so Rommel unleashed the German armor on the Brits. That region was a slaughter fest, with lots of destroyed and captured Brit units The Ami's got off the beaches, but progress was slow and the German infantry more tenacious in the game than they were historically. fingolfen
Sounds like you need to run a valentines day massacre with squishy bits only Nah, you know me, I just like historical lists with some balance... Though I'm actually hoping to have bandwidth to run a tournament next year...
barca
I would be willing to be the Axis general, or do the logistics, or both. Trying to play mostly Germans for the next 12 months. However, if we need to balance out the Axis vs. Allies list, I am flexible. I can play Brits/Canadians (Canadians historically had 1st Para in the campaign). But I would also be happy with being a subordinate general and also do the bookkeeping and communications for this if someone else wants to be the German CiC. barca
I looked at the Lorraine firestorm and at best, it only addresses a thin southern slice of the Ardennes campaign. If someone wants us to run a true Bulge/Ardennes campaign, (using the BF compilations), then I can adapt the excellent Lorraine firestorm campaign and put it on a free website. It will take a bit of time to set up the website and make a new campaign pdf. Earliest I could do it is 1st wk of DEC. If someone else wants to tackle this, it might get done sooner. ZeroMoon17
Also if we want to do Bastogne instead of the Lorraine, there is already someone putting together a Firestorm: Bastogne campaign. http://forum.wwpd.net/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=20168 We can even participate in their campaign, and then we don't have to worry about the admin of the system, simply fight battles! Edit: Although they are starting this week, and will go for 6 weeks, so I'm not sure that fits with our time table...

barca
Anyone who wants to jump in on the wwpd campaign, don't wait for me. I have 3 events between now and mid-November, each with a diff army. Ergo, mid Nov to early Dec is when I can focus on writing up a new campaign. Also, I was planning on using the starter box "Rommel's Wolves" as the core of my Panzer Lehr army list for the bulge battles. That box has not arrived at GG, yet. http://www.frontlinegames.de/Companies/Battlefront-Miniatures/Flames-of-War-WWII/Germany/Boxes/Rommels-Wolves::13846.html

I would love the Bastogne campaign now that my Glider Infantry company is pretty much done and I was planning on using them for most of next year anyway.
