Guest
Chariot, can it qualify as a non-vehicle model? Likewise, can it qualify as a non-infantry model? Chariot rules are definitely in the vehicle section, but it's a dual profile single model, so while it's definitely a vehicle AND an infantry model, I'm unclear how it interacts with rules that specify a Non-vehicle/non-infantry model. Is this more clearly covered somewhere? Unclear if this chariot is, in rules, considered just a vehicle, or if it's considered both a vehicle and an infantry model. Matters for terrain features, and mission rules, and whole ton of other things which have different rules for vehicles than they do for infantry. The shooting and assault phase is pretty well covered in the BRB, but the other rules are very lacking.
Tamwulf
Chariots have some of the most ambiguous, worst rules in 40K. Do yourself a favor and just don't play with them.

But my Space Fur Trapper must ride his sleigh through the Alaskan Frontier in search of Russel.
WestRider
You get to use the non-Vehicle Profile in some specific circumstances, but if you look at the Unit Type on the Datasheet, it's clearly a Vehicle.

The vehicle part is clearly a vehicle, while the rider part is clearly not a vehicle. I mostly agree with the just don't use them attitude, but I'm looking at kill team options for my chaos daemons and the only vehicle is that slaanesh hellflayer chariot. Can the rider be a specialist?

Is there something specific you're wondering about, or just a more general question?

Is there something specific you're wondering about, or just a more general question? Well, the above post regarding kill team. There's also a bunch of other things, but nothing specific comes to mind now. Offhand: I'm very unclear how psychic powers work, when the psychic power says to test the vehicle's leadership and specifically says vehicles are leadership 10. Chariot entry says to use the infantry profile for characteristic tests, but if the psychic power specifically says they are leadership 10, then that probably overrides it? [Not really related to the vehicle discussion] Oh, and how about marker lights, how do they work with chariots, given that in the rules the owning player assigns "hits" to the rider or transport as they want? For that matter, how does a chariot resolve hits that auto-hit?

For that matter, how does a chariot resolve hits that auto-hit? It is a Vehicle, so not eligible for something that requires a non-Vehicle, like being a KT Specialist. The 7th Ed Dexes are more clear about this, because the Chariot Rules got cleaned up substantially in 7th. Look at the Catacomb Command Barge, for instance, which clearly lists its Unit Type as Vehicle. Markerlights hit the Unit as a whole. They don't have to be applied to the Rider or Chariot any more than they would be applied to specific Models in a Squad. Blasts and Templates auto-hit the Chariot, the Firing Player decides which gets hit by Precision Shots or CC Attacks, and the Chariot's owner decides for all other Hits, auto-hit or not.
