Chappy
Castellans of the Imperium formation. Can I take Valkyries and drive Space Marines around in them? Or Sisters of Battle? Or Chimeras doing the same thing? And could you explain why? As I read it, it looks like I could run a really neat themed Inquisition force. pretre
Simple answer: No. The Castellans formation does not change your faction and, because of the FAQ, Battle Brothers don't share transports. That being said, the Valkyries in C:IA can carry some other factions: ERRATAPage 46 – Faction and AlliesAdd the following to the end of the first paragraph:‘Transports from this Faction can transport AstraMilitarum, Militarum Tempestus and Inquisition unitsas if they were all of the same Faction.’ Also, the Castellans formation DOES make an awesome inquisition force. That's what I am doing for the next Annihilation.
WestRider
Slight correction: During the Game, they can get in those Transports. They just aren't allowed to start the Game in them. That restriction still pretty much kills any use you might plan on, but the possibility is good to keep in mind for the occasional situation that pops up where it is handy.
InfestedKerrigan
Does the Superfriends formation count as a detachment with the space marine faction for the purposes of FW models?

Generally, no. Depends on the wording of the FW model though.
InfestedKerrigan
XXX counts as a XXX in any detachment with the Space Marines Faction. Castellans requires units from at least two factions. If one of those units is Space Marines, I say my Castellans is a detachment with the space marine faction. If I don't take a smurf unit, then it doesn't meet the criteria. pretre
If it says it counts as a unit that is listed on Castellans, than you are probably okay.
InfestedKerrigan
The Superbird is a LoW in any detachment with the space marine faction. Can I take a Sokar in a Castellans that has SM units?
AbusePuppy
No, because the Castellans detachment explicitly specifies what units are allowed to be part of it. You can't take other units not on the list, even if they are of one of the factions that can be part of the Castellans.
pretre
You would need to have a rule that says 'pretre can be taken in any detachment that allows you to take a space marine captain' for example, the named canoness can be taken in Castellans, iirc. InfestedKerrigan
So I can take a Warhound, Warlord, Reaver, or any of the Knights as they say AotI may take. How about the new eldar super faction and Hornets, Phantoms, etc? They count as Eldar Faction detachments, do they not?
