Titandeath: The Legions of the War for Beta-Garmon

ATPreOrderPreview-Sep30-TeenyTinyWarhoun

The first expansion for Adeptus Titanicus: The Horus Heresy – Titandeath – will be available to pre-order tomorrow, and in it, you’ll find no fewer than eight new sets of rules for different Titan Legions.

We’re sure you’re dying to know what they are and what they do – so here’s the lowdown.

Four loyal Legions are covered, each with its own distinctive rules and abilities. A mix of Legion Traits, Stratagems, Wargear and Personal Traits define a different play style for battlegroups of that Legion based on their background.

Legio Astorum, for example, are known for their devastating spearhead attacks and veteran Princeps, reflected in Legio Traits that allow Astorum Titans to move faster in the first two rounds of the game, and re-rolls to repair dice.

The Legio Defensor, on the other hand, quickly became ardent disciples of theLectitio Divinitatus, and their faith in the Emperor can manifest in miracles when the circumstances are right…

Legio Atarus have access to infernus missiles that can continue to cause damage as they set enemies aflame, and destroy terrain as the fires sweep out of control.

Legio Solaria use hunting packs to bring foes to heel, allowing a Solaria Warhoundsquadron to contain additional Titans, and replacing Reavers with Warhounds in any maniple. Their Personal Traits are also focused on speed and fury, such as Spear of Tigrus:

Four Traitor Legions are covered as well, including perhaps the most famous Titan Legion to swear to Horus, the Death’s Heads of Legio Mortis.

These cold and calculating killers keep a constant tally of their kills, servitor-choirs droning an endless list across vox-channels, driving the crew to greater fury.

Legio Krytos, known for the war on Tallarn, specialise in breaking fortifications – and any Titan with Apocalypse missile launchers can equip devastating ordnance designed for the purpose.

Crews for Legio Fureans Titans are drawn from tribal cultures, and their aggressive nature spills over into their god-machines’ behaviour, with Traits and other rules based on hunting a single large foe and bringing it down with devastating firepower – even including a Personal Trait that lets a Titan add 1 to armour rolls when attacking Titans of an equal or greater size within 12”.

The Legio Vulpa always had a reputation for excessive cruelty, and their fall to Chaos has only made them more deadly, with a taste for close-up combat that is reflected in their rules.

Titandeath also includes four new maniples to build your battlegroup around, including the much-requested Lupercal Light Maniples, made up of 3-5 Warhound Titans which can form into ad-hoc Squadrons of any size, and whose Coordinated Strikes are extra devastating.

This is just a taster of the new rules that Titandeath brings to your battlegroups. Pre-order your copy tomorrow and you’ll be reading them for yourself before you know it. In the meantime, why not pick up some new Warhound Titans or Cerastus Knightsto bolster your forces before the war for Beta-Garmon begins.

Adeptus Titanicus. I believe it says so in the first sentence

Says horus heresy in same sentence. And both are GW games in the same setting. Hence my confusion.

Thanks for the clarity.

There is only the one game.

Well, no, there's also The Horus Heresy: Age of Darkness which is the official name for the game everyone just calls "Horus Heresy" or "30k."  There is also The Horus Heresy: Betrayal at Calth and The Horus Heresy: Burning of Prospero, which are technically two separate stand-alone board games. Everyone kind of treats them as value packs for acquiring minis for 30k, but, technically you can play them as their own game.

Plus, back in 1988, they published a game title Adeptus Titanicus (note: no subtitle) that was the precursor to the later Epic games.

That's because the full name for the game is Adeptus Titanicus: The Horus Heresy

Lol..so the army book for using titans in 30k would be:

The Horus Heresy: Adeptus Titanicus...?

No. Nice try but you are attempting to put a lot of effort into something simple.

Just think, how many people do you think own a Warlord titan? The actual 2 foot model.

There is a Titans Owners Club for a reason.

I know you're joking, but because I'm pedantic (and who knows who could be reading this later one) the rules for Titans in The Horus Heresy are found in The Horus Hersy Book 4: Conquest (Knight Titans), The Horus Hersy Book 5: Tempest (Warhound and Warlord Titans), The Horus Heresy: Mechanicum (reprinting the previous), The Horus Heresy: Crusade Imperialis Army (reprinting the non-Mechanicum Knight Titans).

So, basically, you totally can play with Titans in WH30k, if you've got the money to spend buying one of these bad boys, then buying a half-dozen coffee table books to get the rules for them shouldn't be a problem. Your butler can help you write your army list.

I added a winking smilely face to my statement to let you know it wasn't serious. Didn't seem to work....

Now, what would be really fun would be to get enough of the toddler-sized Warlord and Reaver Titans, along with some Knights, to play a game of Adeptus Titanicus using 40k models.

I'll let you know when they lottery commission finally gets around to mailing me the check.
