  1. Also holy [big bad swear word] Nathaniel needs to apply for this right now so I can get a preview TIE Phantom! http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_news.asp?eidn=4685
  2. Looks like there's a preview for the new X-Wing pilots in the Medium Transport box up. The most interesting to me is the 1 point astromech that lets you take a pilot skill. http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_news.asp?eidn=4682
  3. I'm out of town this weekend, but if there's a repeat class, I'll likely be interested in checking it out.
  4. I get off at 5:45 so I could head down shortly after that. Sometimes I have to stick around until 6 on Wednesdays, but not always.
  5. I could likely make it down after work. Never enough X-Wing!
  6. I'll be down when I'm off work at 5:45. I had talked to Jon about setting up a game, but I'll be up for anything. I have some more ideas for trying to fit TIE Bombers into a list so watch out for that.
  7. You guys need to get the names down better here: Nathaniel: The owner of Dark Tower Games, not on the boards. Nathan: Drunkard who plays games sometimes, nathonicus on the boards.
  8. Tricking people into leaving their phones there and selling them on the black market from what he told me...
  9. Online retailers are up to 33% off on board games, X-Wing, and RPG stuff nowadays so it's pretty rough competition and it makes it difficult for someone with a tight budget to justify in store purchases. I definitely think some sort of incentive system would help and the 10% off all orders thing is actually pretty nice.
  10. My Serpentine belt decided to break so I'm immobile at the moment, but I might be able to talk someone into dropping me off down there around 6 or 7ish
  11. Has anyone tried out the Daredevil Elite Pilot Skill? I've been thinking it might be good on Vader with an Engine upgrade. It seems pretty awesome on paper for even more crazy mobility than normal.
  12. I'm thinking this Sunday I might be looking to play some X-Wing if the city isn't buried under too many feet of snow. I'd theoretically be up for this anytime during the day and could play whatever point values people are in the mood for. Also if there are 3 other people looking to play, I've been thinking about a 200 point team game...
  13. I think enforcing dues would be pretty tricky and getting folks to keep up on them would be just as bad. The options for this would either be A) paying in person at the store every month, which would mean that there would be a ton of checking required for who is paying and who is freeloading or B) some sort of subscription to charge peoples' cards or accounts which would mean extra infrastructure costs for Nathaniel with his card processor and would still turn away new players... really anything aside from a straight up free game room is going to turn away new players, which I think could be a major problem if he goes forward with this plan. Now that said, I think a membership program with perks would be a good idea and something I would probably buy into. I think the key is marketing it as an extra thing that people committed the store can do to help out and not as a requirement that you need to get through the door.
  14. The big ship rule is that one corner of your base has to be touching the back edge to deploy at an angle.
  15. 6-10 PCs sounds like a lot of set up costs that will probably not pay off anytime soon...
  16. Actually Nathaniel currently does $20 store credit if you run an event. On the topic of events, one thing that was a bit of disappointment when I ran the X-Wing event was that there wasn't really any effort on the store's part to stock up on X-Wing before the event. I believe there was a single core set on the shelf for the two weeks leading up to the event that did sell that Saturday and the blister ship selection has been pretty thin for a while. I know this could be partially a thing with his distributor, but we did have a few new players and a few walkins just checking things out while we played and it would have made a good selling opportunity I'd think.
  17. Nope, if you start off with the correct facing you can just sit there the whole game like a dick. Here's a rough mockup:
  18. There are other sections of the boards?
  19. So I thought of a horrible thing to do with Lambdas. If you start the match out with 3 Lambdas with Advanced Sensors and Heavy Laser Cannons, you can position them to just take 1 bank or forward maneuvers that ram them into each other and essentially work as a stop maneuver minus the stress. With Advanced Sensors in the mix they're still getting their actions and are pretty much acting as a stationary block in the corner of the board with all advances covered and overlapping fields of fire. This doesn't sound like any fun to play or play against and I don't even know how effective it would be, but it is possible.
  20. Clearly he just needs to get a beer and wine license and put taps behind the counter. I don't know anything at all about the laws on this or how much it would cost, but nerds do like to drink and with all of the traffic he has in there from Magic players and then us, I imagine he could make some pretty good money. If that's totally unfeasible, I could see shifting to a membership or table fee system, but I don't see that likely generating the revenue he's hoping for, nor do I see a LAN space really being a big hit.
  21. Well, I think Expert Handling has to be seen in action to be believed, but Chewbacca is a guaranteed 2-3 hit points extra (3 if you save it until you get a Direct Hit crit) for only 4 points. I'd say it's a pretty good grab. I really really wish that there was a Lambda pilot that could take Elite Pilot Skills as a barrel rolling Shuttle would be crazy effective.
  22. Also, with Han, don't forget he gets the reroll if he gets a bad to-hit roll the first time around. Making him bump into things doesn't really do much then. Also my preferred list with the Falcon is a B and a Y so they're pretty tough to wear down in their own right while potentially causing some ionizing hits with the Y to mess up formations trying to give the Falcon guff. I think our Imperial meta is very focused on TIE Interceptors thanks to Joey and me loving them so much, but I agree though that settling it in the field is the way to go. Did I hear something about the OFCC having an on the side X-Wing tournament or was that last year or something else entirely?
