  1. Yes, noon sounds good! Sorry me have dead phone. Are you thinking 40k or X-Wing? I'm not 100% sure on Monday availability yet.
  2. I have a three-day weekend and nothing to do on Sunday or Monday. If anyone is up for it, I'd be in favor of playing some X-Wing, super-proxied 40k to try out my Daemon list, board games of some sort, or all of these things at once with me moving from table to table in a maddening waltz of gaming insanity.
  3. I've been really enjoy Push the Limit TIE Interceptors as well in the little bit of playing I've been able to do. I'm looking at doing: [43] Bounty Hunter -heavy laser cannon -recon specialist [33] Soontir Fel -push the limit -stealth device [24] Saber Squadron TIE Interceptor -push the limit TOTAL: 100 I've also been kind of tempted to proxy up the so-far-unreleased Royal Guard TIE Interceptor pilots with Push the Limit. Four of those guys come in at 100 points even and are all Pilot Skill 6! For those not aware, Push the Limit is an elite pilot skill that lets you take two actoins per turn instead of one at the cost of gaining a stress token. This works especially well with TIE Interceptors as their Boost and Barrell Roll actions can combine to keep them flitting around outside of target arcs and they have a good range of green maneuvers to get rid of the stress tokens and keep their actions rolling.
  4. Yeah. I also have store credit I need to use so Dark Tower is definitely the preferred option, but I just put in an order for a TIE Interceptor last night and they said they were out of stock :(
  5. Yep, this. I printed out every card that exists in color on cardstock at work and cut them out so I'm set up to proxy anything at the moment. I also use this squadbuilder quite a bit to put together lists: http://geordanr.github.io/xwing/
  6. A regular board game night sounds fun to me. I can never make it down before 6 any week night, but could probably make it after that sometimes. I think I'm busy this Friday, but that sounds like fun for the future. I guess my only concern would be showing up at 6:30 or something and people already being in the middle of 2-3 hour games =\
  7. Yep, no Pathfinder next week. We also have our annual meeting that day.
  8. I've been getting more into X-Wing since going kind of crazy buying stuff over the holidays and I'd like to get some more games in and get other people more into it. I know Dark Tower has had stocking issues that may have held people back a bit, but I also understand that a lot of people have miniatures collecting dust at home so here is my attempt to get those ships off the shelf and onto a table. For anyone who has X-Wing stuff already and has played a few games, we should get some more games in. I was thinking something like an escalation league might be fun? I've heard people talk about leagues they've done with 30-60-90-120 progression that sound interesting. For anyone who is either brand new to the game or has an untouched core set sitting in a closet, I am totally down for teaching the game to new people and have enough models and proxy cards for people to try pretty much anything they want out. Also, for anyone looking to get new models while Dark Tower is out of stock, CoolStuffInc keeps things pretty well in stock and has free shipping on $100 orders (in addition to everything being 30% off retail). If anyone wants to go in on a Warhamsters order anytime soon, we should talk.
  9. Looks like I won't be down until a little after 6 due to having to pick my cat up from the vet, but I'll be down looking for a game of X-Wing or something else random.
  10. I'll be down with X-Wing stuff and could probably be pretty easily roped into a board game or something else that doesn't involve me bringing miniatures.
  11. Definitely let me know if you want to give the Treasurership a go as I'm likely going to step down this year after Roosevelting it up with 3 terms unless no one wants the job.
  12. I found it pretty amusing so no complaints here!
  13. The Soul Grinder idea would also be one less model to acquire as I have a Soul Grinder already :P I was thinking that depending on the mission I might Deep Strike one or more of the Bloodletters, but it doesn't seem like the best move with the rest of my units, though I could be wrong. My line of thinking is just that I can generally get units with a 12-24" move up where I want them within a turn or two at the most so it doesn't make sense to wait until turn 2 to bring them on the board and then have a possibility of losing them to a mishap. With my Bloodletters it makes sense because they really aren't around to be heavy hitters, but I feel like I want to get my strike units out there and in my opponent's face as soon as possible. I'd say it's worth some experimentation though as I've been probably overly wary of deep striking in the past so we'll see.
  14. I'm ready to go for tonight except I couldn't find my wet erase marker. Could whoever had some there last time bring those agani? I'm getting Andy to bring all of our D&D minis that he's been keeping secret and keeping safe for me so no more pigs represented by crouching old men or having to steal Kevin's Spartacus minis! I will be down today anytime between 5:45 and 6:15
  15. Go ahead and do regular starting gold + 400 to account for everyone else being ahead of you in lootz.
  16. And I suppose I could also replace the Soul Grinder with a Skull Cannon for overcoming cover in assaults... Hmm....
  17. One thing I could do if I drop a DP is: HQ [290] Bloodthirster -greater reward x 2 [135] Herald of Khorne -juggernaut -exalted locus of wrath (hatred) -lesser reward [135] Herald of Khorne -juggernaut -exalted locus of wrath (hatred) -lesser reward TROOPS [105] Bloodletters x 10 -bloodreaper [100] Bloodletters x 10 [100] Bloodletters x 10 FAST ATTACK [224] Flesh Hounds x 14 [224] Flesh Hounds x 14 HEAVY SUPPORT [260] Daemon Prince -daemon of khorne -daemonic flight -warp-forged armor -greater reward x 2 [260] Daemon Prince -daemon of khorne -daemonic flight -warp-forged armor -greater reward x 2 [165] Soul Grinder -daemon of khorne -phlegm bombardment TOTAL: 1998 That would give me beefier Flesh Hound units and replace the extra in your face threat with a backfield threat capable of laying down some fire support for the advancing squads. Thoughts?
  18. Looks good. For character creation, we are level 2 now.
  19. "...there is a great deal of blood spilled for the Blood God." is my answer.
  20. I've been running a Bloodthirster with my CSM and the rewards definitely help his survivability. If I can score +1W and It Will Not Die or 4+ Feel No Pain (or both!) with him he is very hard to kill and being able to drop one reward I don't want for the Greater Etherblade to give +1S, +1A (since his Axe of Khorne is a Specialist Weapon), and mastercrafted is pretty nice for making him even more killy than usual. Even rerolling invuln saves is handy sometimes and the Lance attack isn't bad with BS10. Armorbane/Fleshbane are usually a little overkill and the 3+ armor save that he already has (but has a different name so I can't reroll it) is completely worthless, but usually I've ended up with something good. I definitely wish the Fleshhounds were bigger too, but finding points to significantly boost them really is the trick. I could drop some rewards here and there to bring them up to 12 or 13 dogs each, but I'm not sure if that would make a big difference. I'm going to have to play the list some to figure out which targets people prioritize and go from there probably. I'm imagining the FMCs would be the primary targets because they're scary single models, but who knows. And yeah, good old grounding tests.
  21. I've talked to Joey about this a little, but all of the recent list advice that's been floating around has given me the gumption to throw up a Daemon list I've been kicking around in my head for a little bit. The premise of the list is assault and speed with the thinking that for assault armies to really have a chance in 6th edition, they have to be able to close ground, pick their targets, and do it fast. As usual I'm limiting myself to Khorne just cuz. Here's what I'm looking at right now: HQ [290] Bloodthirster -greater reward x 2 [155] Herald of Khorne -juggernaut -exalted locus of wrath (hatred) -greater reward -lesser reward [155] Herald of Khorne -juggernaut -exalted locus of wrath (hatred) -greater reward -lesser reward TROOPS [100] Bloodletters x 10 [100] Bloodletters x 10 [100] Bloodletters x 10 FAST ATTACK [160] Flesh Hounds x 10 [160] Flesh Hounds x 10 HEAVY SUPPORT [260] Daemon Prince -daemon of khorne -daemonic flight -warp-forged armor -greater reward x 2 [260] Daemon Prince -daemon of khorne -daemonic flight -warp-forged armor -greater reward x 2 [260] Daemon Prince -daemon of khorne -daemonic flight -warp-forged armor -greater reward x 2 TOTAL: 2000 Heralds would be running with the dogs. My biggest concern play-wise is the lack of troops, but if I keep all three units in reserve and spread them out enough to avoid getting pie-plated, I should be able to have my fast units in combat by the time they are showing up on the board and I'm presenting a very target rich environment to make people choose just which big threats they want to try to shoot down and which they're going to have to eat in the face. From a composition standpoint I worry a little that the list will be seen as spammy with the four flying monstrous creatures, but I'm hoping the fact that Daemons aren't at the top of the pile competitively and that this is an assault army will give me enough slack to pull this off. Thoughts?
