  1. Interesting question on terrain. I'd say that's a non issue as that can apply to 'any' game and is less brand controlled. However, good question if your intent is to COPY a terrain model and break infringement. Again depends on where, who, etc.

Ish makes a good point. I think it's less about impacting GW, and more about keeping our LGS's afloat. Personally couldn't care about GW's bottom line.

Do you require permission from Ordo to make Ordo shirts?

    Ordo said no....

Yes, you do need permission to use another company's/group's logo.

The reason is copyright infringement. It's a brand the club controls and paid money to have the artwork created. These are things you have to consider when dealing with 'internet' artwork.

  3. Recently my LGS asked a player to stop coming because he was 3d printing HUGE amounts of his army. As in, 3d printing most of a knight, more than 50% of a marine, etc. That seems like a fair ask really. At some point the model becomes a proxy, and is not a valid model. That said, no one has ever balked at kit bashing a model, but this tends to be a slippery slope. The rule our LGS went with was 70% legit pieces, or special conversion reasoning. Replacing shoulder pads, and such no one cared about. The torso & legs, I could see an issue there for an LGS. You could always ask (or beg forgiveness later, but it would be too late if you already assembled everything). For the record, 2nd hand marines are CHEAP (got over 2300 points worth of troops, vehicles, everything for like $100)! You should be able to get what's needed without 3d printing 'most' of marines. Other armies not as much.

While personally, i don't care. It's about where you're playing in my opinion.

At Ordo, no one at the clubhouse is going to care in a friendly game (speaking for myself anyway). If at a tournament, I suppose it would depend on proxy rules.

I always felt that DS9 was criminally underrated, and Odo was one of the big reasons that the show was so great. RIP.

I could get behind this. I agree, it came and went too quickly. The content there was good, all the way to the dominion wars.

  5. I wanted to say looks like the event went excellent! Your event is always solid and looks like it went VERY well! Just wanted to let you know everyone appreciates the effort it took to run it! Thanks for all you do!

I was disappointed to be occupied this weekend. I had hoped to play.

We'll get me playing Infinity someday!

Wish I could have made it. Transportation didn't work out. Hope to make it to the next one!

All good, next time. It turned out well and had fun.

We did end up running long, and found 4 games at 1.5hrs to be quite a 'long' event. I'd either shorten to 100pt 4 games, or 125pt 3 games next time. Lessons learned 😀

I've been building a lot of Zone Mortalis terrain and theoretically recycling a lot of sprue.  (It goes in the bin but Im not even sure it is truly recyclable locally).  Anyway, I still have a pile of it upcoming.  Could provide up to 16 more or less immediately and another 10 later.

Yeah, i'd love this! If you're not needing the sprue, you can put it in a bag and leave it at the club sometime. I'd happily pick it up on a game night. You can mark it with my name (Matt). No rush either, so you can wait until you have a large quantity, or do 2 drop offs. Just make it easy for yourself.

Actually, it's looking depressingly like I won't be able to make it out tonight - I dont think I'll be able to slip out of work in Beaverton early enough today to be able to show up for any appreciable amount of time. 😞 I'm hoping for NEXT week, though!

Not a problem. Sounds good. And thanks for the heads up. Looks like I'm also not making it until 5:30/6 for D&D only too.

I own both Battlelore and Memoir 44 and are a lot of fun for me and my kids.

Battlore is going out of print so there is a lot of good deals to be found for the base game.  Some of the extra armies have gotten expensive though, so adding more stuff might be a pain.  Battlelore has a cool bluffing element during game set up were you can bluff some with unit placement, but it takes longer to get the game going.  There is a little more going on than Memoir since units have special powers and magic that can be activated. The only real hassle with Battlelore is like most fantasy flight games there isn't enough dice in the base set, not a huge deal but its a hassle to have to re roll dice.  Adding more dice makes the game run a lot better.

Memoir 44 has faster set up and play and offers a similar game. One nice thing about it is that there is a ton of content for it. A good variety of scenarios and theater/unit boxes add a little complexity and keep the game fresh. The eastern front and japanese boxes are personal favorites.

Both are fun for a lighter hand management/war game type game. Battlelore is really cheap right now, but adding more content might be difficult. If you find the army boxes cheap they are worth picking up.

As far as strategy goes there is more going on than at first glance. If you think of the card driven actions as more of a logistics/hand management problem it makes some of the abstracion easier to deal with. I actually find the Napoleonics version finds a nice balance between historical and light war game; the at times frustrating command and control issues seeming to fit the time period well.

Thanks. So it really does sound like the extra setup and extra rules for battlelore are pretty minor and really just comes down to which theme we'd want. Do you feel Memoir missions and Battlelore missions are all balanced well?

I don't plan to do much around 'expanding' at all. Really just looking at a core set, something to kill time (likely less than 10 plays), done. Plus with Battlelore being clearanced, miniature market has it for $27+$6 shipping, that's cheap.

My real drive was, as a kid I remember owning and playing battlemasters. Was a blast. These seems like that on a small scale.

Would anyone object to my using Necromunda Enforcers in Kill Team? Counting them as Tempestus Scions or Space Marine Scouts perhaps...?

He's kidding. And it's really just about being decently WYSIWYG. So if a gun looks like a gun, sure. Kill Team is small enough though that legit models are not hard to get (mindtaker.org?).

Also, books aren't really needed for players, as plenty seem to have it already or pdf's. Kill team is one of those casual awesome pockets imo.
