  1. So I've been trying to get my son more interested into wargaming. We play chess and such. I'm looking at things like Memoir 44, or Battlelore, or any other suggestions. I am told Battlelore is more complex and Memoir 44 is easy to learn/play. I'm leaning toward easier to adopt and play, but FUN as well. My son is 12, so he's sharp and doesn't need an 'easy' game. However, being accessible would be huge! Also a game being 1 hour or LESS would be ideal too to avoid pressing attention spans.

Let the ideas flow! Memoir 44 doesn't seem to go on sale ever. The idea is a miniatures strategy wargame with a board basically. I also heard memoir 44 operation overlord expansion adds more players and fun (later on).

Are there any rumblings within the bowels of Ordo for another Kill Team campaign? I really wanted to get in on the one last summer, but life just kicked my ass and I just didn't have time. I've had a hankering for some Kill Team action lately, and I really want to play in a campaign, as I feel like that's where the game really comes into its own. I know Guardian is running a few tournaments over the winter, but I don't want anything that competitive. @ninefinger, what are the odds of a repeat?

There's 2 Kill Team events coming up. One this Saturday the 30th in Troutdale at Goin Gaming (full player packet, prizes, beer, food, achievements, 4 rounds, will be a blast!).

The other is Dec 8th at Guardian Games.

That said. I have not discussed running another KT league, but you're right it would be easy to do. Depends on interest? It's hard with the holidays coming up to start something up, and I don't know if we'd have room in Jan to set something up between the Bolt action league and Gaslands in spring. Let's see if we can get some interest? @ninefinger I'd be game to help run a KT campaign again if we've got interest.

  3. I found some nice color Gaslands dashboards (This PDF is missing some dashboards). You can print them as normal and throw them away, OR, you can use the method I used with plastic sleeves and dry erase and reuse them. See the finished product below (I made mine double sided).

    CDgYKsRBEOhCAZtxFI0NGA8fy6VcOb3VMcgq9iudUB1GrdV5JNWIKm4pK1_1jhP15E1QjFajjRNWit8EUldpTCsXe7NCD3MLu3Pxyz13UUsBgQpWJSaIZhQ0YnfvdVgnly6vJs-vzJxvtTX2NE23YZhWUjRGyyb2uoYgrjUXLKO5eQZdjGflmlS8Msh0HdHz47l0okwV6TQUkpAT9ns0--Il2rDygJxVS_4k54BzirWfT-kfZGHkGjZ0A-8jWDFWDc502aGnB2g0BERYzrUnKCZcTsJ3uRelRUOAlBzyOVQKRNypx84sU1uHXzz1mA9B4dcSwrr246UPJ8ReJRZbOx8ZesQK-d1ADV6lNTazaXLkkyudOKHTZylwHl7ZocSx1x-Xm3j9Pf9cAi7urcBAXfBQv5XJvubiNzoG_Dp7NKMrYjDFZx71mSHPsc6-QFq9dISTtKHqw_Una6JDoWJAmjhHEa0ugG9XhSMzIZ0bAn_D1Hoj2piaGGfwAJFDocPNyXGNjGCQ5xMJN2WTEgnSZMqf4kxMAV9Ow2wjozCTqVjKM8XT_IOZZYkYVOMl7mm6yDvSBi6lpKs6rAF70WHVDrcgNBQtPGc0ECGe3kYwNJbcnnFq9QNOlL8UyzKkK-hcOF7u9f4aSKwrJfKdOOpk9MuqyoflixBzTc9Eq7uVVKRKAPSeuVNa5zc=w1680-h840-no

I simply used that PDF linked above and made a word doc that allowed me to screen capture the dashboard image and copy it into either a 3"x4" or 3.5"x5" plastic toploader sleeves made by Ultra Pro.

    Like these:

I used the 3.5"x5" because I already owned a bunch. If I was buying new sleeves, i'd probably go 3"x4" next time as they are still larger than the standard template.

Here's the docs I created for the 3.5x5 sleeves: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1pEJYek3-vkACrBNKv84FXAwKZ6Yd9REG

    • There's 4 per page on my edited docs. Download all the docs you want and simply delete the images you don't want to print to save ink.
    • You could also print them as is and trim the yellow off if you wanted to use in smaller sleeves (or simply make the images smaller in word by double clicking the image and change the height/width setting on the top right of Word)

Print and cut them out. If you want to save space, I slipped 2 per sleeve (front and back).

    • For example, I might have Helicopter on one side and Gyrocopter on the other. Allows me to use less sleeves.

That said, then you just need some fine point dry erase markers and you're all set (highly recommend Expo brand and low odor).

    That's it.

  4. REUSABLE Dashboards

  5. Goin' Gaming (in Troutdale, OR) is hosting an Elites Kill Team casual Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 30th starting at 11am. What better way to recover from Black Friday than taking it out on a Kill Team!

There are 18 slots, entry fee is $10, beer, food, and yes we have prize support! All ages and player levels welcome.

This will be an Elites and Core rulebook tournament with games at 125 points and players can bring rosters up to 20 models (though I suggest bringing a full roster). There are no Commanders or Arena rules being used.

Here is a link to the facebook events page for full rules: https://www.facebook.com/events/401433367429913/

If you're interested, I would recommend contacting Goin' Gaming (503) 328-8166 directly to reserve your spot ahead of time. The Best Coast Pairings link is below to register.

    Image may contain: 2 people

Here's a copy of the rules as it was initially (might have changed on main Facebook event):

    • 125 point Kill Teams (using Elites and Core rules), Commanders and Arenas are not being used.
    • Official tactic cards are not required as long as you have a print out the tactic/rule in question and it has been approved by a judge at the tournament to accurately represent the official card in question.
    • Leader & Specialists should be clearly identifiable.
    • Players should bring a set of kill team tokens to indicate charges, normal movement, advances, shooting, shaken, and fall back. Also don't forget your dice & tape measure.
    • Individual kill teams need to follow all rules of a Battle-Forged Kill Team from the Core Kill Team Rulebook.
    • Playing space and Terrain will be provided.
    • Please bring 2+ copies of your Command Roster to the event for data-gathering purposes and mustering. One copy will be given to the tournament organizer.
    • Painted models are not required, but definitely help in scoring for prize support.

I really enjoyed my first Ordo visit last night. Thanks to @ninefinger for the Gaslands match - that game is great! Looking forward to meeting more of y'all on future game nights!

Welcome to the club. And I totally agree, gaslands is addictive and awesome! I hope there was much carnage to be had 😀

If you are considering joining, you might consider signing up as a warlord or emperor. It reduces game night dues big time (from $5 as a non-member to $2 for warlord level, or free for Emperor level). I believe we're allowing anyone who signs up for next year they get the rest of this year included.

I look forward to a match sometime.

  7. I've got D&D at 6.

Jeff is helping me get a Kill Team refresher game around 430 too.

I also need to pick someone's brain for a kill team refresher. Rules discussion mostly. Running a vanilla KT tournament in Troutdale Saturday Nov 30th, details still to come. Torn on 1hr rounds, but thinking 100pt original Kill Team (not commanders or Elites) to allow newbies to settle in. Thinking about 4 games, prize support and all. It'll be a $10 entry.

I thought WHFB 8th Edition was the best edition of any I’d played (which spans 4th through 8th). It needed some tweaking to buff heavy cavalry and to dial back the potency of spellcasters... But it was just about ideal for what it was.

Don't neuter my Dark Elf Sorceress! I CURSE YOU!! 🤣

I have to admit, as a MINOR WHFB player who really mostly played 40k, i'm intrigued that my Dark Elf army might see use again!!! AOS, never played, especially since the dark elves dissolved into weird side factions.

I should be there around 4 to open up, if no one beats me to it. I’ll be aiming for some Gaslands games, and maybe a blood bowl game if @kb10r gets his game with Burk in first.

im always down for necromunda, killteam or warcry, so give me a shout if you want a game or demo of any of those.

I'm 100% in for a gaslands game! I have D&D at 6pm, BUT let's plan for a 4:30pm game? Would love a multiplayer game again, such awesomeness.

There's a chance Work will delay me, but I'll send you an IM via hangouts if I am late (meaning start without me).

A 2-3 player Death Race using just basic cars and without using any of the more complicated options can usually be completed in about an hour or so. Depends on how fast everyone picks up on the rules and the small-talk to game-play ratio... Gaslands is a pretty fast moving game.

Sweet, d&d got bumped, so I'll be there for gaslands, and those who pre-ordered templates/dice I should have that all too!!!

I’m planning to be there, inviting new viewers to watch the greatest game show of them all: Gaslands!

Stay tuned to this broadcast frequency and remain indoors.

How long would a learning game take? Thinking if D&D happens, and we can be done before 6pm, i could partake!
