  1. Hello everyone, This year for the OFCC 2015 we are looking to flesh out an event schedule for the Friday one day events. As the WFB and W40k Opens were on Friday last year, those events drove a lot of the ticket sales and participation. Now that we have both Opens running concurrently with the Team events, we would like to query the community on what events would garner enough interest to run. Here are the current options being discussed for OFCC 2015 Friday: 1. Warmachine & Hordes - Steamroller event. 2. X-Wing 3. Bloodbowl 4. 40k and Fantasy doubles event (2 players to a team vs 2 players to a team) - 3 Rounds 5. 500 point "Bring It" events where Fantasy and 40k players bring 500 pts and battle it out for a King of the Hill type event. 6. Infinity 7. Hosted events like an Apocalypse game or Triumph and Treachery (Players purchase Open Gaming tickets and reserve tables) 8. Grudge Match Event A - 2 teams of 4 players from different clubs (8 player pods) play 4 games against one another to see who is the "better" club. 9. Grudge Match Event B - teams of 4 players challenge other teams of 4 players in a 3 game event to determine who is "the best club". 10. Malifaux 11. Necromunda event 12. Mordheim event This topic will stay open until February 12th as we will need to begin strategic planning for table space and ticket sales soon. Events will have to meet a minimum ticket sales threshold otherwise the events will be cancelled and money refunded to players.
  2. All of the team composition questions and rules are in the team event packets. There are no restrictions on teams and army selections. You can bring 4 armies of ogres for all I care.
  3. Being on the list of approved teams means they get first crack at buying tickets is all. If they don't get their team fully paid for before a specific date then they get moved to the waiting list while another who has all four paid gets locked in.
  4. Correct, Legion of Chaos suffers the -7 from Reign of Chaos.
  5. 16 Teams registered. Now accepting teams to be put on the Waiting List. If you didn't get in the sweet 16 don't worry, we will try to work something out. Just get your name/team registered with me pronto.
  6. The event has not shrunk at all, we found that many of the members who were competing in the Team event preferred doing an Open event instead. The 40k team event is only really "shrinking" by 4 teams as the last few years they have had 20-21 teams. There will still be the same amount of people there, just some of them will be in the Open who maybe played in the Team event last year. This is not to say if we get 16 teams for 40k and there are 2-3 more waiting that we won't try to accommodate this but for now we are limiting space to 96 players a side. The fantasy event has also been moved to 16 teams and that has already filled up within 3.5 days of posting the event packets. We will see how we adapt to the growing excitement and participation of our team events. Just think of it this way. Everything is awesome. Everything is cool when you're part of a team...
  7. John Kersey is an enigmatic character. His background is shrouded in mystery. People who have seen him say he is a sexy mother[big bad swear word]er who's good looks are only exceeded by his dazzling intellect and razor sharp wit. John Kersey really is an amazing individual. If only someone knew his Ordo handle. If only... If.... only... (it's me)
  8. Round 1 will be the only round that you may challenge another team.
  9. Bro you can bring 4 Ogres if you wanted to. You could bring 4 warriors of chaos army - each a different god. Bro you could bring 4 wood elf armies - each not as awesome as mine. Bro you could bring 4 dwarf armies and be ridiculously annoying. It's all good. Know what I mean. Bro? Bro do you even warhammer? Bro?
  10. If the event's 16 slots fill up. Please continue to submit requests to register when you have 4 team members. People drop and I would like to be able to include anyone that sent in their team early. We will also look at ways to expand the number of teams if we have a large amount of requests but for now we're sticking with 16.
  11. Do you know why I put in a lot of team achievements for softer lists? Ordo Fanaticus likes playing soft, however we are evolving and lists now vary as generalship improves. I could probably spend days evaluating and collecting empirical data that shows an evolution between super hard lists vs. experience of general but that would be folly because someone would be a jackass and argue the point just to be contrary. I digress. I am expecting to see many teams with a combined score of 58-62, however there will be those who are going to bring 72-80. You know what? Both of those are awesome and fine. When you get down to it, someone who is super experienced and competent is going to take an 18 rated list and wallop someone with a 12. However that will be a grand award of 10 battle points. The softer list achievements are there to help compensate for lack of wins and also to serve as bragging rights. The softer achievements won't compensate for a lot but they can help out the overall score at the end of the day. I mean think about it what's more impressive "Hey our team went 20-0 at OFCC with a team comp of 80" or "hey we won 20 games at OFCC with our comp score of 50". Ideally, I want to see people bring what they want and have five fun games that they can go home and talk about for 11 months before the next OFCC comes around. I want to see those commie bastards from WCP and CHOP! fall to the might of Team America: Warhammer Police. Why? Cause: Canada. (Yes I know Canada is a socialist country ,thank you) I want to see memorable and themed armies, I want to see epic fights just in case the End Times shatters the world and changes the game next year. I want to see a parade of Battle Standards from each club proudly displayed in an awkward parody of a presentation of colors. More importantly, I want to see 200+ nerds in a convention room rolling dice and having fun because that's what the event is all about. Anyway - nothing wrong with bringing an 8 just as long as the team you are with has lists that can reach 50. Also I hope you enjoy giving up 500 vps before any dice are rolled for most games :D
  12. I know that YOU know that I know that YOU know that we both know that you were kidding but I had to make sure that someone else knows that I know that you know that YOU know that they know that you were kidding because if they dont know that I know that you know that they are not sure then are any of us really aware of the joke at hand?
  13. FFS no. The players that wish to play in a less list restrictive environment may play in the Open, while the Team event is for various clubs to play and compete against each other.
  14. If you want to bring the bloodthirster I would bring the bloodthirster. I mean I get the desire to bring a 20 but I would bring it if you wish to display it. I mean go bonkers!
  15. Oops, the -140 includes his Lore of Undeath comp. Should probably amend that appropriately in next addendum release after Thanquol.
  16. Before this thread gets too out of control with doomsayers and everything. I agree that Malekith the Eternity King is a brutal model. He is 1,000 points. The model may have 10 wounds, and be S6 and T6. The model has a 3+ armor save and a 2+ ward save vs. nonmagical attacks. The model does 1d3+1 wound and has ASF and Murderous prowess. The model is immune to multi-wounds. The model is a Level 5 wizard and loremaster of shadow with a 12" awesome bubble for elves. This model is pretty bad ass. This model also dies to a single volley of a dwarven runed organ gun. This model dies to Lore of Metal badly. This model dies to magic missiles like a champ. This model loses his magic armor ward save to High Magic - Vaul's unmaking which more than 1 army has access to. This model would also die to being flanked by a unit with magical attacks and high strength - which many armies have access to. Most armies have access to Lore of Metal, and if they don't they have access to Lore of Death. There is no set "hard counter" to Malekith the Eternity King but he is by no means unbeatable. He is currently in my beta version of the OFCC Swedish Comp Addendum v.2 at a 140. I will be facing him this weekend at least 3 times with 2 different armies that will be comped anywhere from an 8-13. If he happens to steamroll my entire army by himself then that will be a separate conversation. If people are concerned about playing against him at OFCC, please don't be. He is currently comped in my beta addendum at 140 which means right off the bat with nothing else in the army ,the army is a 16. If you add a unit of 20 witch elves you are now looking at a 14,2 by adding just 1 unit. Let's say you add a unit of Doomfire Warlocks, just 1. You are now looking at an 11.8 list. You still have almost 1000 points left to spend in the army and have to stay above an 8. Good luck taking a power list with that model. I am actually concerned that he is over comped at 140 but like I said, many armies have tools to deal with this model. If they do not then the captain's will need to have a very important conversation during match ups. In the end guys, stay positive. After all, anyone can roll 1's.
  17. Well they actually may want to have a higher comp score as at the end of the event the Team Comp score is added to the final total - just like in True Swedish comp. There are also many achievements available for teams to have a higher comp threshold and who overcome one with a lower. You may still have a team with 2 20's and 2 8's but they may find that the 2 8 players are automatically giving up 500 VP's a game from the get go if they are facing someone 5 points of greater in score. It's all relative however. Because. Everything is awesome. Everything is cool when you're part of a team...
  18. Of course you can. The 40K OFCC Packets will be out soon for registration information for the Open and Team events.
