  1. That made me lol at work. Well done.
  2. This thread will serve as the defacto ruling on game questions going into the OFCC Fantasy Open. Please ask your questions in this thread and the ruling will be given. If a FAQ from Games Workshop comes out that contradicts the answer in this thread then the Games Workshop ruling supersedes this answer. These FAQ answers are also subject to change provided new rules or errata arises. Please check back often if you have a rules question. Frequently Asked Questions and Rulings: 1. Are Wood Elves allowed to have more than one unit with enchanted arrows of the same type? - Yes, multiple Wood Elf units may select the same Enchanted Arrow upgrade. e.g. You may have 3 units of Glade Guard with Trueflight Arrows. 2. Do the units that have the Predatory Fighter special army rule gain the additional attacks from the Predatory Fighter special rule if they are making supporting attacks? - No, the BRB states "he can only ever make a single Attack, regardless of the number of Attacks on his profile, or any bonus Attacks he might otherwise be entitled to because of special rules or other unusual benefits." Roll your front rank first then the Predatory Fighter attacks generated then roll your supporting ranks afterwards. 3. The Waystalker character in the Wood Elf army book has two hand weapons. If he is given a Bow of Loren magical weapon, how many shots does he fire? - The Waystalker with the Bow of Loren magical weapon will fire 2 shots if firing shots with the Aimed Shot or 2 shots if using Fast Shot option as Multiple Shots (2) can not be conveyed twice. 4. How does the Lore of Vampires spell, the Invocation of Nehek, function when cast on a unit of Hexwraiths. - The spell will resurrect 1 Hexwraith model. The Games Workshop FAQ/Errata for Vampire Counts answer this question when dealing with Blood Knights where they say a Vampiric unit may never gain more than one wound. We will follow that line of thinking and say the same for an ethereal unit. *edit ruling change 6/5/2014.
  3. I disagree Raindog, I think they are a well balanced army for both shooting and close combat. I do however think you have to set up the units to operate thus. I'm going to get about a dozen or so games in in the next month and a half to really hone the new army but so far they have proven to be pretty well balanced in all 4 phases of the game.
  4. Code of Conduct: Rule 2: Be Friendly and Courteous Everyone wants to have a positive experience while on the Forums - please make sure that you contribute to it. Please do not post anything harassing, threatening, abusive, lewd, or inflammatory. Flaming people, products, or organizations is never acceptable. Neither is trolling. Instead, be friendly, helpful, and supportive. Ordo Fanaticus tries to keep a casual environment and appreciates any help with this.
  5. It's 1 shot at the beginning of the game. You could have 10 characters but it's still just 1 shot.
  6. I am currently waffling between Shadow/Beasts 2, Dark 4/Shadow 1/Beasts 1, or Life 4/Death 2. Problem I run into is you can't build a strategy around hoping you get a specific spell. And much of my arrow selection decision have been circling around synergy of magic. I have 6 lists created thus far that I created with different options and each centering around possible synergy but we will see what ends up being the "primary" choice.
  7. No.1 - There is only one other Warhammer Fantasy event and it is not a "Smash my opponents army so hard that he doesn't have a chance to win." event as it it is also an Ordo Fanaticus event and sportsmanship is not an option in our events. So please do not refer or infer to the OFCC Fantasy Open as that type of event as even unintentional meanings can give someone the wrong impression of the event and possibly cause them not to participate. No.2 - I wish everyone would separate the ideology that List = Sportsmanship. If you are an [Clown] and play like an [Clown] it doesn't matter what you bring - you're still an [Clown]. It should be a Captain's responsibility to educate his team on what it means to participate in this event regardless of what is being put on the table and then enforce that mentality through out the entire event. Composition and restriction does not mean that what you are going to bring isn't going to crush your opponents, how you play the game does. Last year communication about the spirit of the event (See Raindog's sticky about the Spirit of OFCC) was not handled properly and as a result several teams appeared with the impression that this 2 day event was a competitive tournament rather than a team event that celebrates the hobby. Had there been better communication and more emphasis on ensuring captains kept their teams in line and playing like Ordo members then I think that some of the negative comments about last year's OFCC Fantasy event would have been minimized or at beast negated entirely. All of that said - the comp system has been posted by Raindog. He is the Head of Gaming for the event. He has taken on the responsibility and burden to run the event so while you may not agree with it, it does not mean that it won't work. It just means that you and others may have a different opinion and expectation of what the event should provide. Neither of which are wrong on any account.
  8. I would prefer scenarios where it is actually required you engage your opponent rather than hunt for treasure or trophies. I would like scenarios where you earn bonus points for having your generals battle in a challenge in the center of the board or perhaps have a scenario where the magic phase is in flux so you roll a D6 at the beginning of it and if you roll a 1-3 all spells are cast at -1 and dispels at +1, where as on a 4-6 all spells are cast at a +1 and dispelled at a -1. Small chaotic options that don't have a huge game impacting change like having a vortex in the center or giving loremaster to a caster. I would prefer where in the games there are "attackers and defenders". Attacks have 3 objectives to accomplish such as "Kill general, kill battle standard bearer, capture 2 standards" where as the defender may have objectives such as "Kill general, defend the deployment zone, outflank the attacks (give 1 defending unit ambusher special rule) etc... I find that modifying the base scenarios is fine as long as they do not have complete game changing effects, that creates unnecessary imbalances and immediately puts certain armies at a disadvantage. I know that making custom scenarios is not easy but sometimes simplified changes work wonders.
  9. Me: Hey Cristin, Wood Elves are getting a new book on May 3rd! Wife: I know, you have said that like 10 times in the past hour on the drive home. Me: Hey Cristin, Wood Elves are getting a new book on May 3rd! Can you believe it! Wife: You realize your parents and have half a dozen life insurance policies on you right? Me: What does that have to do with the Wood Elves getting a new book on May 3rd? Wife: Soooooooooooon...
  10. Hello everyone, As you may have read in another topic, the OFCC Fantasy Open will be taking part in the Pacific Northwest Tournament Circuit and be a qualifying event for the US Masters for Warhammer Fantasy. I have received numerous questions concerning available slots for the event and when the event sign ups will be posted. The event sign up and ticket sales will be announced soon, Also, one other thing - I have had questions concerning the "competitive" level of this event. While this may be a "no comp" event, it is still an Ordo Fanaticus event and as we all know that means Sportsmanship and fun are the most important elements. Those aspects, as in any Ordo Fanaticus event, will be strictly enforced. I think however the most important detail that everyone is wondering is what they get for winning. The winners will receive a Warhammer. I know, that's bad ass. I agree. And yes, thank you - I am ridiculously good looking, I agree. As OFCC 2014 draws closer, there will be various updates on this event on the Deployment Zone podcast, download and listen!

  12. I would like to point out one simple principle that needs to be said. Involvement in a tournament circuit does not mean that you can not have a "friendly format" first of all. Just because sportsmanship may not be a scored election or primary requirement in an event, it does not mean that you are going to run into a "Win at all costs" environment. These are all events put on by Ordo Fanaticus or clubs affiliated with them. The Pacific Northwest self-polices their player-base and events to eliminate that form of behavior. Also, a "no comp" style events do not mean you are going to run into ultra competitive or win at all cost players. It just means players have the freedom to bring whatever they choose to the event including things like Special Characters and so forth. I wish to break this mentality that if you have a "no comp" event that it means you are going to encounter aholes. That really isn't the situation, after all you will be playing against Ordo members so what is the concern?
  13. I just wanted to update this topic with the mention that we have had 4 Ordo Fanaticus members obtain gainful employment and have started a career in the Trades! 2 Inside Electricians 1 Sheet Metal Worker 1 Carpenter Congrats on your new apprenticeship guys! Committees are accepting applications guys and gals, if you are even remotely curious feel free to give them a call. The committees for each trade's contact information will be on the link listed above. Again, good luck Ordo!
  14. Rothand Studios has a Hierotitan conversion kit I bought which is pretty bad ass. http://rothandstudio.blogspot.com/ Just look at his Tomb King models and you'll see his Hierotitans.
  15. Hello Ordo Fanaticus, My name is John Kersey and I'm the Internal Operations Manager of the Apprenticeship and Training Division (ATD) for the Bureau of Labor and Industries here in Oregon. I also serve as the SAA Director for the Bureau's Department of Veteran's Affairs contract. The reason for my post is that I have noticed that there are quite a few Ordo Fanaticus members that are looking for jobs and seeking a method to support their families. The Apprenticeship and Training Division is responsible for the registration of all Apprentices in the state of Oregon that are in registered trades. An apprenticeship is an On-the-Job (OJT) program that consists of a combination of Related and Classroom Training as well as on the job experience performing the work. For those of you who do not know what an apprenticeship is, apprenticeship is an occupational training that combines supervised on the job training and classroom instruction towards a specific career. The apprentice usually starts out at 50% of the wage of a Journeyman (those who have completed their training, received industry certification and have passed the exams) and most apprenticeship last anywhere from two to five years. The apprentice wage increases per step as you progress through the program until the apprentice wage is equal to the journeyman wage and the apprentice is ready for graduation. An apprenticeship is run through an organized body called an "Apprenticeship Committee" which is comprised of both employees and employers of the trade and who have developed a structured curriculum to fully train apprentices in their chosen occupation. These committees may be union, non-union, or mixed and are all supervised by the Apprenticeship and Training Division of the Bureau of Labor and Industries. So right now, there are several committees seeking people to become apprentices in their chosen trades. The Apprenticeship and Training Division posts the "Opening Notices" (job postings) for each committee that has available spots. I am encouraging anyone who is interested in finding a job doing skilled trade work to check out the ATD's website and apply for an apprenticeship through the committee of the job they are seeking. I would also like to point out that the Journeyman wages of several of these occupations are very good. On average you will find journey workers making around $30.00/hr on some jobs if not more. Now some of you are probably asking "What does John get from someone applying? Does he get a bonus if X amount of people sign up?" The answer is no, I do not receive any compensation or acknowledgement. I merely wish to provide an employment opportunity to those who are in need of a good career that will pay well and keep them buying models to play at OFCC! Here is the link to the FAQ we have for Apprenticeship. "What is Apprenticeship?" Here is the link to the Opening Notices (Job Postings) for all our Committees: Apprenticeship Opportunities Statewide. The Apprenticeship Opportunities Statewide table is organized as follows: 1st Column shows the Area (Portland Metro is Area 1, Salem Area is no.2, etc. if you click on the numbers it will pull up the State Regional Jurisdiction Map) 2nd Column displays the Program Description (Occupation) - Plumber, Electrician, etc... 3rd Column displays the Program's affiliation - Union, Non-union, Mixed. 4th Column displays the Master Agreement Number which is what we use to designate every committee. 5th Column displays the Location that you may physically apply for the position. 6th Column displays the Application Accepted section that will show the current job postings and contact method for each committee to apply for the apprenticeship. To apply for a position merely contact the committee providing the opportunity and they will give you the instructions on how to apply. This does not automatically guarantee you for a job as you must like other applicants be selected from a pool of other applicants. If you have any questions about these apprentice opportunities or wish to know more, you may contact me at work at 971-673-0772. That is my office number and I'm more than happy to provide information on how to get a career in the trades started. If you are a veteran, every registered apprenticeship with the Bureau of Labor and Industries is an Approved Facility. That means you may also use your G.I.Bill benefits while serving as an apprentice. You may also call me at the number listed above with questions about that as well. As I said before, I receive nothing if you are brought into a program - I merely wish to see everyone in Ordo on their feet and happy. I will also state that these programs and occupations pay very well, you merely need a high school diploma or a GED to qualify for most programs. So feel free to give me a call and I'll be happy to provide whatever assistance I can. Thank you and good luck Ordo! John Kersey
  16. With two years of Exterior House Painting, have you considered contacting the painters union or their apprenticeship office to be an apprentice painter? Western Oregon Southwest Washinginton Painters JATC. They have an Opening Notice which means they are accepting applications for apprenticeship. Contact information: 503-287-4856 The non-union Painters - Area 1 Paintes JATC also have an opening notice their number is: 503-675-0548.
  17. It's poor form to beat someone with their own tactics :). Just saying! Grats again Eric :D
  18. James, you may use them whenever you want. They are 100% welcome in the Ordo Fanaticus Fantasy Open if you want to run your Ogres with them then. Otherwise in normal gameplay who cares? Bring them and if your opponent is going to cry about it then have them counts as Mournfang and remember them for being sissies. This entire mindset that Forge World not being allowed is just stupid, but that is a rant for another day.
  19. For the Ordo Fanaticus Fantasy Open: or the OFFO! I would like to point out that not only are Storm of Magic creatures allowed in the Special allowance (following the Scrolls of Binding rules - i.e. no more than 2 of the same type of scroll) but you also have access to Sorcerous/Demonic pacts and the monsters from Warhammer Forge Monstrous Arcanum and Forge world. That distinction is rather important! OFFO, I like that. I think we'll keep it.
  20. Yes, this event is a single player event taking place on Friday while the team event takes place on Saturday/Sunday.
