  1. I think hobby space pics are interesting, post one up!
  2. They look great! Nice work on the snow effects, how'd you do it?
  3. Terrain projects are really hot right now. I did the grimmest, darkest Coke machine today:
  4. I've finished this week's model. Pretty happy with him, was fun.
  5. I really want a Thousand Sons army; looking forward to seeing these guys when done. Unfortunately, I also want a Black Legion army and have to choose. Decisions, decisions.
  6. Shelter-in-place is boring. Be exciting and post up a pic of the oldest model in your 40k collection. Here's mine. Bought him soon after Z-Games opened in Vancouver... anyone remember what year they opened? '99 or '00, maybe?
  7. So Far: 1 Redemptor Dreadnought; 5 Primaris Hellblasters, 1 Ork Warboss, 1 Rukkatrukk Squigbuggy This Week: My goal is to finally get this guy painted and based to tabletop++ standard. Challenge: Do it!
  8. I got the Squigbuggy done. I love this kit, there is so much going on... there are little stories all over it. Also managed to get the weekly challenge done. No progress on the IF Lieutenant though, so he'll get full attention next week.
  9. Great progress, @Ish. I definitely bit off more than I can chew this week 😞 Stoooopid teleconferencing software.
  10. I took a stab at this week's special challenge today: Liquid Mask Weathering. It's a cousin of salt and hairspray weathering. The idea behind the technique is you apply a basecoat that mimics primer, then stipple it with rust colors. Once those are dry, you sponge on liquid mask here and there and let it dry. Then you airbrush your presentation colors on top of all that. When the top coat of paint has dried enough, you rub off the dried liquid mask exposing the "crud" underneath. I wanted to model the idea that my orks grabbed a blue hood off the scrap pile, cuz blue is lucky. I had hoped that the Hull Red I chose as a base (simulated primer) color would contrast enough with the rest of the red body, but... meh. Can't see the orange I stippled on as rust very well either... also, meh. If I were to do it again, I'm not sure how I'd handle the "primer" color. If I went with a cool light grey instead of the reddish brown, I worry it wouldn't contrast enough with the light blue I wanted to use for the top coat; any other color wouldn't be convincing as primer... meh. One thing's for sure, I'd keep the weathering more to the edges of the hood, avoiding big blobs in the center (like on the left hand side of the hood in the pic below). Overall it turned out ok, but I'm a bit disappointed. Hopefully it'll look better when the rest of the buggy is weathered.

    Splendor

I picked up Splendor to play with the family while we keep to ourselves, jealously guarding our treasure trove of ramen packs and canned corned beef hash from the infected raiders roaming the blasted hellscape of Vancouver. We've really been enjoying it. If you're looking for a game with a bit of depth, multiple paths to victory, half hour (or so) to play and is still casual-friendly you should check it out.
  12. Hmmmm, what have we here? So Far: 1 Redemptor Dreadnought; 5 Primaris Hellblasters, 1 Ork Warboss This Week: Finish IF Primaris Lieutentant; Get started on the Rukkatrukk Squigbuggy. Challenge: Practice masking liquid weathering on the Ork Roach Coach.
  13. This week I completed my Ork Warboss and Speedpainting bonus, but only got base/shade/highlight airbrush layers done on the Primaris Lieutenant, so he'll have to advance to next week. Damn you, Witcher 3!
  14. Always down for some T'au! Looks good πŸ‘
  15. I recognize Action and Detective comics, but the others I'd have to cheat.
  16. Oh man... I've got nobody to play with, and need a new game like a hole in my head, but man you're making me NEED this game.
  17. I did my speedpainting challenge over lunch today. I've never tried speedpainting before... everything was going fine, was making great progress, then all of a sudden I was almost out of time! Couldn't highlight the holster or the black on the gun 😞 That was a really fun challenge, I enjoyed it. Hooray for Contrast Paint, Agrax Earthshade and Nuln Oil! I do wish Martian Ironearth dried faster though πŸ˜„
  18. https://www.dccomics.com/blog/2020/04/01/dial-in-from-the-dc-universe-with-these-virtual-backgrounds I'm a Gotham guy.
  19. The Vallejo Metal Color line is my go-to for metallics these days. They're technically airbrush paints but brush on like a dream... usually with one coat coverage. The weak spot in the line is the Gold.
  20. So Far: 1 Redemptor Dreadnought; 5 Primaris Hellblasters This Week: Character week! 1 Ork Warboss & 1 Primaris Lieutenant. Stretch goal: Find a model to speed paint and get it done.
