I'm not participating in AoS at all. I hope it fails miserably, and whoever is in charge of the changes and storyline get fired and can't get a job in this field again.

I played 4th/5th/8th, missing 6th/7th while I was in the Navy.  I enjoyed 8th the most, out of the editions I played.  I never missed Character Hammer, and felt 8th was a good equalizer to the army books.

I am super friggin excited to play this game.

 

Seriously, like I will be playing this during OFCC after the games are over.

The first photo is new models. The photo that is Warmachine models is Pretre's repost showing the similarities with Warmachine.

Nothing about those photos screams fantasy. I don't care how good the rules may be. I wanted a fantasy game. Guess I'll use it as an excuse to work on my Dark Angels for 40k.

I'm willing to bet New system = Fantasy 40k. 

I'm willing to bet we go from a percentile based system to that of the force org.

I'm willing to bet we will have Decurion detachments for the Factions much like we have in 40k currently.

I'm willing to bet we have the movement phase, magic phase, shooting phase, assault phase like in 40k (not much has changed other than charges being declared in final phase).

I'm willing to bet we have crazy allied matrixes that yield family fun for everyone.

I'm willing to bet the magic phase will have successful "Magic charges" on a 4+ etc...

Craziest thing I ever heard of was actually posted on Warseer. A guy was playing Lizardmen with Carnosaur, 2 Stegadons and a Bastiladon vs Empire with 4 cannons (two Great, two Steam Tank).

 

The Empire player gets turn and shoots off all four dinosaurs with 4 cannon shots. I worked out the odds on that one and posted it to the Warseer thread: I think it was less than 0.01% :-)

That is definitely a harder one to mathematically determine. With bounce rolls and base size/angles to consider.

No 1s on 20 dice is ~0.026%... pretty damn slim ;)

What about 21 dice?

Craziest thing I've seen is against Raindog's Dwarfs. My Warp lightning cannon did a direct center hit on 20 Longbeards and his Runesmith at Strength 6. He LOS his Runesmith, and I didnt roll a single 1 on the wound rolls. His Runesmith was left there in utter shock, wondering where his whole unit just went.

I just ordered one of the art prints yesterday.  And preordered the book from Borderlands.  Hoping it's a good novel.
