Also, you'll note that I said:

I am inclined to think that the first interpretation:

    "

    - Wound occurs

    - Roll 2+

    - That wound stops in the attack sequence, go to the next one."

    is the correct one.

Which means it stops 1 wound of your 40 wounds.

i ignored that one since it's not RAW and constrains the rule to only one part of the attack sequence. as intended i think you're right, but that's not really how it's going to be played until it gets FAQ'd.

Was reading about an article regarding Grot shield. So if someone shoots you with 40 shots from say a troop squad, it says "On a 2+ one model of your choice in that Gretchin unit is slain and the attack sequence ends." Does this mean say even if they scored say 10 wounds, only ONE would be resolved? Seems like it, says the attack sequence ends.

currently, yes. gw [big bad swear word]ed up big time yet again.

Won’t most of the standard Deep Strike denial strategies work against this? It can often be difficult to find a spot where a Drop Pod or a 5-Man Termie Squad can safely land... Plopping a giant Ork battle bus onto the table could be even trickier.

obviously you can push it back, but the main benefits are that the giant meganob unit (or whatever else you might want to transport) isn't getting shot as it walks across the board, plus it's way easier to make a charge after disembarking + moving from a vehicle than immediately after deep striking.

    This seems nuts.

Yeah. Who cares if you can't disembark the same turn? Your gigantic unit can't be hurt until the vehicle's dead, so they're much more likely to hit the enemy line at close to full strength.

Thanks! You and I mostly played each other in 5th when I had 50 less models and the game had fewer dice rolls. I suspect it is hard to run true hordes in a competitive environment due to time constraints.

The new Dex has me building lists again.  Horde style Orks seems really viable if you have decent time frames.  8th seems faster than 7th, but at TSHFT in 2017 I only got to turn 4 once in 6 games.  And, in most cases, half the game continued I would've fared better, so it was slow play self sabotage...

The big break is lack of templates means you dont have to be so fiddly.

Don't worry, after I shoot my punisher cannon at you, you'll be back to your old list size in no time 🙂

Why wouldn’t a sniper carry a knife? Knives are useful as hell. Everyone should carry a knife, pretty much always.

having a knife is one thing. a sniper model actively wielding one is weird to me. and in this particular case it just adds to the haphazard nature of the model.

Yeah, who would give an eldar ranger a knife!

That's basically an update of the old sgt sculpt for eldar rangers.

it's not only the knife, i know it's an old concept, but i still think it's silly and the main issue for me w/ the new model is how ridiculously busy it looks.

  8. hand flamers are d3 shots and strength 3...if that profile stays the same i don't understand how hand flamers would be even slightly better than inferno pistols, even with the stratagem.

bloody rose order seems like it'll be the only way to run repentia. S8 such a huge improvement over S6.

I do think it's interesting that they added that it only applies during the movement phase and you can't move again after deploying from deep strike (because the BRB states you can't move again after being set up on the battlefield as reinforcements).

Unlike the first stipulation, the latter wasn't about restricting models with the fly special rule, but the free "as-if" moves that come from powers like warptime and quicken.

EXCEPT for the fact that you could put your entire force into reserve AND you couldn't be tabled. So.. NO it's not how it worked for years. AND you could opt for night fighting rules on turn 1.

If you note the context, we were talking specifically about reserves not being able to come in turn 1. But yes, there are also the differences you mention.

I was an early adopter of Forge World's Imperial Armour series back in 3rd and 4th Edition: armored companies, super-heavies, flyers, titans... The whole thing. As production of these models has moved to plastic, lowering their cost and making them available for all factions, I'm quite happy to see it.

I just think the scope of the battles need to shift, to better represent the scale of the battlefield. 20-30 Space Marines, a couple Rhinos, and a Knight? 60-70 Ork Boyz, a dozen Trukks, and a Battlewagon? That makes sense to me as a force that would be fighting building to building in a 6' x 4' area. But the scope of the game, at the 1850-2000 Points level, is roughly two times that size.

Well, the beauty of point systems is that you can rescale your games as you see fit, impose restrictions on super-heavies, etc. I get your point, but just because the tournament scene plays games that don't fit your taste doesn't mean you can't play games (or start tournaments of your own) that solve that problem.
