  1. At the crossroads outside of town, with a stake through its heart, a mouthful of garlic, and communion wafers over its eyes...

I’m being sarcastic, Pax. Making mockery of the fact that for the last couple years, every “limited release” model has been a Primaris Lieutenant or a Stormcast Eternal. There’s something like a dozen different sculpts for the Primaris Lieutenant now (counting the two in the starter set) the only difference between most of them being the angle at which their elbows are bent. “You get a Primaris Lieutenant! You get a Primaris Lieutenant! Everybody gets a Primaris Lieutenant!”
  3. Wow. The new GW really is a different company than the old.

    Primaris Lieutenant.
  5. It worries me, a bit, that every successful Sisters list seems to require Celestine... Nothing wrong with having a good Special Character, mind you, but an army shouldn’t need to use one to be viable.
  6. I've figured out a decent way to do yellow, albeit it helps that I've decided to go with a "dirty" battlefield look instead of parade ground pretty. No airbrush yet, probably gonna get one for myself as a birthday present this spring.
  7. Well... um... some of them are. My painting progress has been abysmally slow.
  8. People mostly just seem miffed that this supplemental rule-book comes with scatter terrain... I guess they were expecting it to come with, like, full-sized buildings or something. Why the #$%& they would think that is beyond me...
  9. Derry Girls (Series 1) A black comedy set in the 1990s in Derry/Londonderry during The Troubles, the show reminds me very much of Freaks & Geeks... Only it's set in Northern Ireland/the North of Ireland instead of a fictional suburb of Detroit. The show is a very unusual mix of black comedy, Nineties nostalgia, complicated politics, Catholicism, and potentially incomprehensible accents. I f---ing loved every minute of it, but I can see why a lot of people would either find it absolutely baffling and others might find it horribly offensive. "Sláinte, muthaf--kaaas!"
  10. I don't think he was offended, Pax.
  11. "You read Lt. König's report, Hasen." the Captain's words were a statement of fact, not an inquiry, Ancient Pfeiffer nodded in the affirmative anyway. It was rare, these days, for the Imperial Fists to refer to each other by their Wall-Names. But Halytsch was old indeed, rumor held that he had been one of the original Sons of Dorn chosen for the Primaris Project when it was first begun by Lord Commander Guilliman and Archmagos Dominus. He certain clung to many of the Chapter's oldest traditions. "The presence of the Genestealer Cultists on this world, so newly returnned to realspace is troubling. Especially if they've already begun to subvert the Imperial Guard." "The Mordian Iron Guard remain steadfast, Bruder-Käpten Halytsch," Pfeiffer countered, "Lt. König spoke highly of their Colonel's tatical accumen and the bravery of his men. Indeed, I hear that Sgt. Ungeheuer and his 'Ogres,' apparently owe a keg of Necromundan Wildsnake to one of the line squads..." "Aye, hopefully he can 'persuade' Sgt. Brandt to part with one of his," the corner of Brother-Captain's mouth tweaked in the briefiest of grins, before his countenance grew stern again, "But that must wait. Brandt's Crows report a fortification of indeterminate origins ten klicks north-northwest of our position. Squad Ungeheuer will be another thirteen hours until they are fully combat operational, Techmarine Monteur still cannot rouse the Thunderhawk's Machine Spirit, and we still cannot make clear vox-contact with Caestus Errantia." "Ten klicks?" Pfeiffer did the math, "The Cultists could march on us in under and hour if this weather breaks. If the Cult has commandeered any of the Astra Militarum's field artillery... We're well within range." "Aye. But your assuming this fortification is home to mere Cultists." the Brother-Captain spat, his saliva frozen before it hit the stones, "It's time for another patrol, Hasen. Lt. König and his Demi-Company will remain here to secure our LZ. We'll take Sauer, Sturm, and Wirdheiß for recce. Find out who's in that fortification and why." ++ Patrol Detachment ++ **Codex Selection**: Codex Adeptus Astartes Space Marines **Chapter Selection**: Imperial Fists + HQ + Ionas Halytsch Primaris Captain w/Power Fist (Warlord): Plasma Pistol, Power Fist, Trait: Storm of Fire, Relic: The Armour Indomitus [ 92 pts ] + Troops + 5th Co / 1st Squad Intercessor Squad: 5x Stalker Bolt Rifles, 1x Auxiliary Grenade Launcher; Sergeant Sauer w/ Chainsword [ 85 pts ] 5th Co / 5th Squad Intercessor Squad: 10x Bolt Rifle 2x Auxiliary Grenade Launcher; Sergeant Sturm w/ Power Sword [ 174 pts ] + Elites + Claus Pfeiffer Primaris Ancient Bolt Rifle [ 69 pts ] Das Grabmal Redemptor Dreadnought: Heavy Onslaught Gatling Cannon, Onslaught Gatling Cannon, 2x Storm Bolters [ 155 pts ] + Heavy Support + 5th Co / 9th Squad Hellblaster Squad: 5x Heavy Plasma Incinerator; Sergeant Wirdheiß w/ Bolt Pistol [ 175 pts ] ++ 3 CP; 44 PL; 750 Points ++
  12. 🎼 Give’em the old Snazzle Dazzle, Snazzle Dazzle ‘em. 🎶 Give'em a list with lotsa Flash Gitz innit, 🎵 Your win streak’ll be infinite! 🎶
  13. T7 is notable only as the “dividing line” between infantry and light vehicles, since it takes away a lot of the worry from small arms... So it’s not bad, it’s just the jump from T6 to T7 isn’t as impressive as the jump from T7 to T8 or T4 to T5. It’s kinda like “dead levels” in Dugeons & Dragons 3.x... Yeah, getting a new level is always a good thing, but some levels just got you a bigger Hit Die. Other levels got you a new Feat, a new level of spells, a class special ability, etc.
  14. There’s a couple “break points” where the jump in Toughness is more impactful than others: T5 (boltguns now need 5’s to wound), T8 (overcharged plasma wounds on 4’s, boltguns on 6’s), and T10 (lascannons wound on 5’s and most of the really nasty mêlée -focused characters still only wound on 4’s).
  15. My Primaris Marines might outnumber the Orks! What madness is this!?
  16. My favorite still remains Warhammer Epic: 40,000 Final Liberation. Screaming Eighties Hair Metal guitar riff, state of the art full-motion video, and just enough of a tease to make you want to know just what the heck is going on... Plus, the focus is on Imperial Guard and Space Orks — the two real stars of franchise, if you ask me. Plus the game also gave us one of my favorite characters in all of 40k: Holt. Um, er, I meant Commissar Holt. And, of course, we cannot forget The Bringer of Tears.
  17. I get it. Just saying that the smaller ones aren’t without use too.
  18. Go to any friendly local model railroad store, I guarantee you they’ll have Woodland Scenics stuff in stock. Woodland Scenics is to railroading what GW is to war gaming: they the big kid on the block.
  19. 2”-3” trees are nice for mixing into forests of larger trees or for use in “urban” tables, lining city streets for example. Breaks up sightlines and adds some green to tables that are otherwise just drab greys.
  20. To put it in perspective, consider the size of the ubiquitous Space Marine Rhino (L 4.5" / W 3" / H 2") or a bog standard Tactical Marine (H 1.4”). So a stand of 3”+ tall trees will be enough to hide a Rhino behind and a stand of 2”+ tall trees will be enough to hide most infantry behind. I find forest area terrain looks best with 3-5 trees of several different heights and a couple different shades. Makes for a nice visual that “reads” like wild forest. If the trees are all the same color and all uniform height, it will “read” like an agricultural orchard or lumber farm (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, if you intend to make a farmstead). A mixed bundle of 3” and 5” trees should be great for general purpose “do anything” wargaming forests. At least in the 25 – 32mm scales. Using them for 6 mm - 15 mm is definitely do-able, but will kinda make it look like your Team Yankee games are taking place in Lothlorien instead of East Germany.
  21. The Woodland Scenics ones are nominally free standing. Most model railroaders will pin them or glue them to their layouts, for wargaming, you’ll want to base them. Being trees they are kinda top heavy and easily knocked over by a wayward die or unattended elbow. 4ground and several other companies sell nice basing kits. Flock the base to match your table, glue the trees to the removable bases, and you’ve got really nice looking forests that you can still move models around in. (Get yourself some extra “bases” for trees of various scales and these can work for damn near every game.)
  22. “The cake is a lie!” Man, I am totally hip with the cool kid’s memes.
  23. My mistake then, I must have missed that in the shuffle.
  24. It’s written on page two of this FAQ.
