Geez, we have so many X-Wing threads.  I know I'm guilty of making like 4 of them  lol  This one is probably the relevant thread, though.  Finally played, with my girlfriend at that.  We played the basic game, first.  I was Imperial, she was Rebel.  She blew up both my ships and won the first game.  Our second game she decided to play as Luke Skywalker, so I took the guy that lets you focus on Green moves and an Obsidian TIE.  We played with some modified rules, slowly introducing the more complicated stuff to make it easier on her (and thus me).  For an example, we treated Red Moves as White Moves.  We did Shooting like the basic game, either you are in range, or you're not, no dice adding or subtracting, however the Range 1 vs 3 works (I wasn't worried about it yet).  I managed to get Luke to 1 Hull Point, but she destroyed both of my guys.  Although, at one point she thought about...well, in her words "You mean I can have Luke commit suicide and end this game?"  The game had been going for over an hour at that point, with both us evading each others shots, or not having each other in range.  

 

After the game, she said that she enjoyed it more than she thought she would and that she'd play again.  I asked her if she'd like to try Attack WIng, she asked if it played the same, I told her very much the same, just things about stats changed, but moving and shooting was the same.  I'll be picking up Attack Wing sometime soonish.

We're having an X-Wing Game Day up/down in Bellingham on Saturday the 22nd from noon to whenever at Dark Tower Games. It will be free to attend and there will be both demo games and full-size games running throughout the day. If you've got the Saturday free and feel like making the trip for some gaming fun, you should come by!

My guess is that ship's going to be the first Wave 4 to sell out - because it's the only cheap Rebel ship out there (19 pts max) so folks will want a bunch. Fooling around yesterday, I make a list that had 5 x Bandit Squad (3 with Ion Pulse Missile) + Kyle Katarn HWK with Ion Turret, Recon Specialist and Swarm Tactics that looked really nasty - there's so much Ion that they an easily stun 1-2 key ships/turn to control threats while swarming vulnerable targets with weenies to finish them off.

In the past week-ish I've picked up an A wing and a Tie bomber to add to my collection. Like all people with rebel ships, I'm eagerly waiting the inexpensive headhunter.

I dig the Bomber...but I think it's way better to have at least a brace of them. I'm running a Bomber list which is Capt Jonus (for the reroll on secondary wweapons) + Seismic Charges + Squad Leader, 2 x Scimitar bombers with Assault and Cluster Missiles, and 2 Academy TIEs. It can put a hurtin' on swarms and big ships, and is packing enough ordinance to be a serious threat to multiple ships.

I like a list with jonus, rymer and a slave with HLC.  Load up rymer with advanced protons and have fun.....
