Brother Glacius Posted August 12, 2021 Report Posted August 12, 2021 Anyone know of a good place to get clubs in or around Portland? I'm in the market for a new set that won't break the bank. Quote
Dark Trainer Posted August 12, 2021 Report Posted August 12, 2021 Bryan led me to Carl's Golfland online, and I scored a GREAT deal last Black Friday on some super game improvement irons for my son. Got a full irons set of Wilson D200's 4hybrid to PW, for $199 on clearance. Bought the driver used on ebay separately. That said, they have some great pricing. https://www.carlsgolfland.com/golf-clubs 1 Quote
evil_bryan Posted August 13, 2021 Report Posted August 13, 2021 It would be good to get a sense of what "doesn't break the bank" means. There are pretty big differences between $100 and $500 when it comes to clubs. Also, are you looking for a full set or just new irons/woods/etc.? 2 Quote
Brother Glacius Posted August 17, 2021 Author Report Posted August 17, 2021 A full set. and I'm trying to keep it around $500 or less. Quote
evil_bryan Posted August 24, 2021 Report Posted August 24, 2021 @Brother Glacius Okay, the best way is to collect components to get the best deal. ebay is a great place if you know what to buy Starting with irons, I would look for a full set ~$250 and stick to name brands like Taylor Made, Calloway, Mizuno, etc. Here is great iron set at a very good price - https://www.ebay.com/itm/165014150830?hash=item266b9c1eae%3Ag%3A01EAAOSwNpdhFHlD&LH_BIN=1 Driver is next, and I would look for ~$100 price range here are some good options - https://www.ebay.com/itm/174906449984 or https://www.ebay.com/itm/265275557827 or https://www.ebay.com/itm/185009770862 or https://www.ebay.com/itm/133856758595 After that, you have some choices to make for the last $150: wedges (gap, sand, lob) fairway wood(s) hybrid(s) putter Just know that all of that for $150 will be a stretch, so it may be better to carry over some of the old clubs and upgrade over time. PourSpelur Posted August 25, 2021 Report Posted August 25, 2021 I actually have a pretty decent set following that same method, spent way less than I could have too, (humble brag). My advice if you're going that route: Know what you want, it's easier to search for Ping i2's than filtering through a bajillion listings for "irons". Be patient, the perfect deal will show up eventually. Be ready, have cash on hand and be willing to go today if necessary. Best deals tend to be in the off season. Never buy a motorcycle on a sunny day. Good luck! +Edit+ I freaking love my Ping i2 irons. The color system for club length is brilliant, they're crazy forgiving and really helped me step up my game. I've gone from hilariously bad to humorously bad. 1 Quote
