Gailbraithe Posted October 23, 2015 Author Report Share Posted October 23, 2015 This evening the players were Mite, Rutger, Sihyaa al-Ni and Ulfgar. Last week we left the party with a living avalanche barreling down on them, which the party was able to destroy after a pitched battle. The battle gave Throdekr Mordson plenty of time to escape, but Mite was able to sense the mind of Signi Sokkadottir in the distance. When they reach the evil seiðer they find him in the middle of a ring of ancient standing stones, with Signi bound to a wooden wheel. Throdekr uses his spells to create four Ice Duplicates to defend himself. The party quickly finds itself stymied by the Duplicates ability to create ice walls that slow their advance, and the nigh invulnerability of the frozen constructs, until Mite uses his psychokinesis to lift Ulfgar and place him directly next to Throdekr -- but Ulfgar's attack comes to late, as Throdekr has completed his ritual and Signi screams as her body begins to glow with a golden light. Ulfgar tries to free the screaming Signi from the wheel, but is knocked back as she bursts her bonds and begins levitating into the air. Tears of blood stream from her eyes and a pair of white wings extend from her back as her screams are replaced by a sudden solemnity as a powerful entity enters her. She announces that she is Thunia, a valkyrie, and that she has a message for Ulfgar. This is her message: "Know that all you have been taught of your people is a lie. The Frozen Lord is not the true god of the Iceborn. The Frozen Lord is a false god. Fate has chosen you, Ulfgar Hjalmarson, for a great destiny. You must prevent the Frozen Lord from returning to Rhûne. If the Frozen Lord is allowed to return your people will perish from this world. You must free Issamaðr, the true god of the Iceborn. Only Issamaðr can restore your people! Seek out the Forth Norn! The Forth Norn will show you the way!" Her message delivered, Thunia leaves Signi's body and she floats gently to the ground. Throdekr recovers from Ulfgar's blow, but missed Thunia's message, and pleads with Ulfgar to join forces now that its clear that SIgni survived the potentially dangerous ritual. Ulfgar's response is to cleave Throdekr in two, but the crafty sorcerer transforms into a flock of ravens and speeds off in a dozen different directions. With the wizard gone, Ulfgar is left to comfort Signi and wonder about Thunia's message. The Norns are well known to his people, but there are only three... I'd like to suggest the following nights: 11/18 (Wed), 12/3 (Thu), 12/10 (Thu), 12/17 (Thu) , 12/30 (Wed) I think we'll skip the weeks of Thanksgiving and Christmas, since Loren and Jake will be gone for Thanksgiving, and I know Joey will be in Alaska for Christmas.
