Swan-of-War
Hey all - Looking to invest in some Mordheim terrain and want your opinion on which 3rd party I should go with. Want some stuff that's aesthetically pleasing, functional and varied enough to make for a good set of terrain. Here's my options http://www.4ground.co.uk/city-of-mordanburg 4Ground UK - Mordanburg Pros: cool buildings that come prepainted, free shipping, doesn't charge VAT, speaks English Cons: MDF terrain, kinda small (4" x 4") but i think I can spread them out http://escenorama.com/shopping/category.php?id_category=50 Escenorama - Modular Ruins Pros: Awesome resin terrain with lots of character and details, bundle deals Cons: Resin can be heavy, unpainted, high shipping, mfr is Spanish (unresponsive to questions so far) http://www.warlordgames.com/hobby-ruined-hamlet-revisited/ Warlord Games / Bolt Action - Ruined Hamlet Pros: Cheap sets, lightweight Cons: Kinda small, repetitive (would need to convert quite a bit to add variation) Thanks! Brother Glacius
I own four of those ruined hamlets from bolt action. There is no set way to build them, so you could get some variety out of multiple kits. I think I have built three so far. I'll try to remember to bust them out and take some pics. You probably would want to add stuff to some of them, but it shouldn't be too hard.
Swan-of-War
I just noticed that 4Ground sells unpainted versions of their damaged Mordanburg sets so it comes out to be quite a bit cheaper
Swan-of-War
FYI - I went with the unpainted Mordanburg buildings. Took a little while to ship, but they arrived within 3 days from the UK. Brilliant models, nice burnt wood smell and a good project for these Fall months. I also bought the AoS Ophidian Archway and Numinous Occulum to use as an ancient temple. Also picked up a Dreadstone Blight and amazing ruined castle from Blue Moon. Just need some more Mordanburg buildings and Ziterdes fountains / statues and I'm set!
Raindog
I have been really liking the 4grounds lately.
splinx
Escenorama are the best looking out of the three choices by far. They go quite nicely with the Tabletop World stuff i have as well.
ChaosGerbil
Can I talk you into supplementing what you buy with scratch built stuff?
Swan-of-War
I'm pretty much set right now, thanks. Need to focus on building/painting what I have. Would love to have you play with us too once it's finished.
wildcat
I did paint a bolt action building for dice age games, looks perfect for Mordheim.
