  1. I want to thank everyone for taking part and following along during this campaign!   The enthusiasm for Necromunda has absolutely buoyed my spirits and I can't wait to run some more events.

We went fairly light on the scorekeeping, but I can call out a few Triumphs for participants

    Pathfinder - Most Escape points

goes to @Krovak13 and the  The Switchblade Saints

Sump Slayer - Most Enemies put OOA

is a tie with both @Painglove's  Truxis Chaincleaver Massacre and @Some_goob's  Royco Waystar totaling 11 enemies OOA during their games.

Medical Malfeasance - Most Ganger Deaths and Highest total of Medical Debt

this may come as no surprise to those who have been paying attention, but @Wienskeet's  Beamer boiz  managed to have several ganger's die on the operating table during a medical escort action.

Notable mentions for @sankaku_jime's  Weyland-Yutani and @Ish's  Medon Precinct Iota for their stellar win records,

and many thanks to @scottshoemaker and @scotthartman for all the work they put in on getting the campaign off the ground and running.

We'll be continuing to play some games on Thursdays, furthering the escapades and escapes of the gangs, as well as aiming to try out some Ash Wastes scenarios with Splinter gangs in the near future - and I'm hoping we'll have a fresh campaign kicking off before spring is here, in the new year.

Watch your backs out there, Gangers!

We'll see you in the Underhive!

  2. I think it sounds great.

I've got lots of questions after my handful of test games with @Some_goob about how vehicles affect the balance of games, how weather rules factor into that, how the economy works out for AW campaigns, etc.

As Meldon's Mire winds down, I'm gonna aim to have some 1400 cred gangs with vehicles and bikes worked up, and happy to loan out models for people to try games with, and look for feedback.  Maybe a mini campaign with plans for a fully fleshed out campaign to go in the Spring.  @sankaku_jime and I also chatted about the Stronghold campaign from book of the outcasts as something that could serve as a stand in in the meantime as well.

I've also got a half-baked Zombie demolition derby scenario that I've got intentions for being a learn to use vehicles scenario.  I'll try and finish it up and post it sometime soon.

  4. 2nd Wave Cycle matchups have been posted, and due dates have been adjusted.

Also - my Goliath Gang will be stepping in as a sub for Scott, if he remains unavailable (life gets in the way sometimes, unfortunetly). Just ping me, if needed.

As power starts to be interupted in the Mire, visibility starts to become an issue.  Hope you brought your photo goggles...

We'll be using the rules from page 193 for Pitch Black Underhive Battles for Cycle 4 and 5 games.

@ninefinger what time you want to meet? I can be there right at 4 but haven't setup a necromunda table before.

I've got a call from 5-6 that I'll need to jump on - but I'll aim to be there early and see if we can get most of a demo game in before it.

I'll post up if work goes sideways and I cant get away - it'll have to be after 6 if that happens - things are looking quiet for this week, though.

  8. Not sure if anybody else is working on any background for their gang or gangers, etc.

Feel free to toss any stories, anecdotes or after battle reports in here as the campaign progresses.

And to kick us off - some observations from a spot where everybody knows your name:

    Spoiler

Reginald Hrenk stood behind the bar, polishing a piece of glassware.  Across the Imperium, bored bartenders stand with dirty rags, polishing dirty glasses, with the same look that Reg wore.  His unnamed bar stood almost in the shadow of the Enforcer’s precinct house, and everyone knew that Reg didn’t allow any trouble.  It was a quiet spot to grab a drink and ease whatever pains the shift or the cycle threw your way.

These days, Reg was doing a brisk business, and the pains seemed to be growing larger with every passing hour, despite the steady flow of drink.  Less than a half a dozen cycles ago, that klaxon had sounded and the sector locked down.  3 cycles ago, the avenue lighting switched into an emergency power mode.  They came and went, occasionally flickering back to full strength.  But with the darkness, came dark rumors.  As Reg heard it, there were cannibals and sump crocs ready to burst out of the underhive and flood the streets.  There was no way in or out of the quarter and no one knew why.  A couple of enforcer captains were taking the communication blackout as an opportunity to settle old scores between them.  The moisture in the air kept getting thicker, and the local gangers kept getting edgier.

It sounded like some exploratory efforts had been undertaken.  Local gang leaders sending out scouts and runners, investigating every nook and cranny, all the forgotten passengers that had once led into the warren of underhive below Medon’s Mire.  So far, no one had found anything, apart from new ways to be damp.  Supposedly, some technically minded band of Van Saar had posted up near the gate where the mag-train used to run, and where performing technical abominations, trying to coerce the machine spirits to release the locks.  And the local Magos was turning a blind eye.

Things were getting desperate.  Which was good for business, but only to a point.  Reg set down his dirty glass, and checked the loaded shotgun under the bar.  He hadn’t had to fire it in years, but the Mire used to be a lawful place.  A good bartender can read a room, and he could tell, it was only a matter of time.  Soon enough, even an enforcer presence wouldn’t keep his bar quiet.  If things got bad enough, even the still of Wild Snake might not do it.  He considered locking up, but where would he go?  Best thing to do, in Reg’s mind, was carry on, keep raking in the credits, and stay within arms reach of the shotgun under the bar.

Folks would get it sorted, or they wouldn’t.  In the meantime, there were drinks to serve, and glasses to clean.

I'm putting together a gang for the upcoming campaign, but have some questions, rules questions, etc. I played Necromunda back when, so I have a working knowledge of the game, just trying to get up to speed for 2023.

1- Can't find the new rulebook anywhere. I have the rulebook from the Corpse Grinder/Enforcer set, but have had zero luck finding the 2023 core rulebook - only a place or two online and they're charging gouge prices. I know there was a pending thread about the rules changes - but what are the options for the campaign if players can't get the 2023 rulebook?

2- Which book has the docs in it? Can you still get a hang-on type doctor character?

3- For the campaign, as I understand it, it's a survival campaign. The Enforcers get free recruits (noobs) when a patrolman dies - is that still an option, or is it just 'You get your starting gang, and that's it?' (I did read through the campaign stuff, just some of it wasn't clear with specific faction rules).

4- Which rulebooks can be used, and which ones cannot? I'm assuming no Outlands/vehicles/etc as it sounds like we're just focused on some gang fights?

5- Are we generating any terrain/resources or doing after battle shopping, black market, etc.? Or are we just gonna run some gang fight games?

6- ... now that I'm typing these out the remaining questions have flown right out of my brain, because of course they have 🙂

I've got a copy of the new Core Rulebook and will have it on hand, and can get you connected to a digital version, if you're not morally opposed to some lite piracy.  I'll also have printouts of resources available at Game Nights.

Doc rules should be available in Gangs of the Underhive, any of the House of.. Books, and the Core Rulebook.  Again, I can get you a printout for reference.

Enforcer rules are going to either be in the Book of Judgement or in White Dwarf 477 for Badzone Enforcers.  The list available in the Dark Uprising rulebook is totally viable, but is potentially missing some options availble in other resources.

Any of the published books can be used, but gangs can't acquire vehicles or equipment that grants the mounted condition (unless you make a really stellar argument when asking for arbitrator approval).  Other options in, for instance, the recent Campaign books, are available, regardless of whether they're currently coded into yaktribe.

No income or new purchases will happen, but gangers will continue to gain and be able to spend XP for advancements.  The goal here is to get to use toys that are harder to acquire in traditional campaigns, and give everybody a leg up on learning the rules without lots of book keeping.  There may be some exceptions as rewards for specialty scenarios, etc, at arbitrator discretion.

  10. Tactics Cards

    Spoiler

We'll start incorporating Tactics Cards, and soliciting feedback during Cycle 1.  If both players agree, a given game can opt to not use tactics cards to ease the learning curve.  At the moment, Players can use either the table available in their 'House of...' book or the Core Gang Tactics on pg 254 of the Core Rulebook.  Scenario guidelines will be used for number and determination.  Once a Card has been used in game, it will be stricken from that player's available cards for the remainder of the campaign.

    Scenario Selection

    Spoiler

The following Table will be used for determining scenarios:

    2D6 Result
2-3 The player with the Highest Gang Rating chooses which scenario to play.

4-5 Play the Border Dispute scenario.

6-7 Play the Smash & Grab scenario.

    8-9 Play The Trap  scenario.

10-12 The player with the lowest Gang Rating chooses which scenario to play.

In any scenario which uses attacker and defender, the Challenger is the attacker.  If both players have the same gang rating, the winner of a roll-off chooses which scenario to play, when applicable.

The following list of scenarios are also available if a player is given the option to choose which scenarioto play:

  11. Games, Cycles, Matchups and Expectations

Players are expected to try and get fixed matches in at as prompt a rate as possible.  Friendly/Pickup matches are allowed - I'm assuming folks will get 2-4 at most, for a total of 6-8 games to complete the Campaign.  These can be players who are not participating in the campaign proper - contact @ninefinger for skirmish gang composition guidelines.  Games may be played anywhere, but Jeffrey is happy to help facilitate having the Ordo Clubhouse anytime that suits, with enough notice.

Please contact your opponents and try to sort out a time and place for your games.  See the shared spreadsheet for Ordo and Discord contact info and preferred availability.  If schedules can't coincide, or one player has to withdraw @scottshoemaker is available with a mercenary gang, or @ninefinger can approve an alternative matchup.

Triumphs will only be awarded to Gangs that complete all of their scheduled matches on time.  Scorn and pity will be heaped upon Gangs that don't respond to messages from their opponents.

Campaign Event games may also be occur with or without warning, and offer special incentives or bonuses to gangs that are able to participate.

The expectation is for everyone to get at least 2 games in every 3 weeks.  Life obviously can get in the way of gaming, so delays can be excused - however rudeness cannot.  Let your opponents know if you have unexpected conflicts and do your best to reschedule promptly, or alert an arbitrator if you must concede.  Nothing sucks the fun out of game night more, than carving out time to play and then being ghosted.  Please respect your opponents time and commitments as highly as your own.

    The Schedule:
Opening Night Games - 10.12 - 6:30PM - Meat for the Grinder and Shootout Scenarios at W.O.W.
    Cycle 1 and Cycle 2 Matchups - Est. completed by 11.2.23  11.9.23

Cycle 3 - Self arranged 'Challenges' - not required

    Cycle 4 and Cycle 5 Matchups - Est. completed by 11.23.23  11.30.23

Cycle 6 - Self arranged Challenges - not required

Campaign Finale Battle(s) - TBD if folks have interest.

Struggling a wee bit with my list.  I just don’t have that much experience with the Corpse Grinders (or the game, frankly!), so it’s hard to know what I will need over the long haul. I feel a little overwhelmed with all the options given so many points and everything potentially on the board. One thing I was considering was the Eightfold Harvest Lord as I have the model painted, and it’s tres cool, but I don’t see it in the Yaktribe Hired Guns list. Is that because it is out of date in the new rules or something? Thank for the info.

    ~ Steve

Probably just that it didnt get added to Yaktribe.  You should be able to make them as a custom bounty hunter or house agent, i expect....  I can poke around, i'm sure there's a hack for it.   You can also just go manual, and write up a card, without it being added in your yaktribe list.

Is there a set time people are meeting at Ordo tomorrow?

I'm hoping to be there at 5 - i've got a couple scenarios for quick games, and we'll sort out some scheduling and list verifications.

I'd love to be able to get some games started by 6:00 - but we'll be flexible based on whatever knowledge i get about who's coming and when
