  1. Hello there, If you end up wanting to borrow Eldar or Tau models, lemme know. I have lots of each army if you need models to play games with. Stay safe, don
  2. Jon - not a points cut off so far. Bring what you wanna play with and we'll find a way to "even up" points... be it reserve rolls, getting to bring back units, etc. A good example would be intrizic and romans832 - both are fielding Eldar. I have a ton of Eldar models so if they wanna bump up their lists they have models to do so with. Fun fun fun and I reckon if the players can figure it out, so much the better. We'll keep posting thoughts/ideas/etc. in this forum post and on the "official" one we'll have better, more-certain lists and such. Stay safe, don
  3. This is going to be the official forum post for this event. General chat can be done in the other forum post, please. If you are CONFIRMING attendance for the event on Saturday, September 13th please post your information below. Army lists would be cool, too so we get an idea of points values.
  4. Bash at the Barn: A Warhammer 40k Apocalypse Event Disclaimer: this is a friendly event so that local 40k players can have fun. This is my first time organizing such an event and am doing the best I can. Constructive criticism is always welcomed but haters, naysayers, or doom n' glooms are reminded that you're either part of the solution or part of the problem. Warhammer 40K Apocalypse invades my humble pole barn on Saturday, September 13th. Folks can arrive at my house for set-up at 0900 hours. The event will begin at 1000 hours and will go until 2000 hours. The event is a "break when you want" format so folks can use the facilities, get something to eat, ponder their strategies or lift weights in the pole barn's gym. As of now this event is being planned as a "good versus evil" event with a sliding points scale, as described hereafter. Event Rules and Guidelines Model requirements: Models can be proxied / "count as" but WYSIWYG will be enforced. Converted models are permitted but again WYSIWYG. Scratch-built models will be accepted; however, they must be easily identifiable to what the model is (i.e. a Matchbox car cannot be qualified as a Land Raider Crusader). Models do not have to be painted or based. The Adeptus Astartes Chapter "The Primarch's Primered" is perfectly admissible! As of now there is no limit to how many Super Heavies each side can field. The game participants can change this however as too many D weapons may spoil the fun of the game, I've heard. Unique character clarification. There can only be one of each unique character fielded for this game. This will eliminate from having multiple Dragos, Abaddons, Ghazghkulls, etc. Fortifications, buildings and terrain: Purchased fortifications are not allowed (i.e. Aegis line, Sky Shield, etc.). If folks are willing to bring urban-themed terrain for this event, it would be greatly appreciated. Rule books: I have a copy of the Apocalypse rule book. If others bring some, too then all the better since I am super new to playing. You must have a copy of the current 40k rule book and your armies' codices, errata and FAQs. Electronic formats of books/supplements will be accepted but you must bring a device for reference. No device/reference material means don't field it. Also, you're in a metal pole barn in the middle of the boonies. Internet isn't a strong point inside the pole barn. Dataslates are permitted. Supplement codices' rules are permitted. Forge World models are permitted but you must bring the current version of the data sheets/rule books for clarification. Formations from the most-current Apocalypse rules are permitted, as well as formations in subsequent publications. Strategic Asset cards will not be used for this event. Gaming aids you will need: Dice - probably lots of them. Tape measure. If you have a vehicle that has a huge range be ready to measure that distance. I have a super-long tape measure if you need one. Apocalypse templates provided that you bring something that needs them. Sportsmanship A team captain for each side will be elected from the participants registered for this event. Any rule issues will be resolved by the team captains' agreement. If your behavior is deemed unacceptable you will be asked to leave. I seriously doubt this is an issue. This is a game and thus is about fun, first and last. Apocalypse is easy to break, so please don't bother. Come with a good attitude, prepare to see lots of things explode into lots more of smaller things... have a good time. Food There is a pizza place less than two miles away. There is a Dominos Pizza that delivers. I have an oven. I have a BBQ. I am probably going to get a couple racks of ribs and have hamburgers and hot dogs (I like to eat meat) and will gladly share that stuff with you all. That being said, if you want something special bring it. Our house is big on drinking water so please bring your own beverages or be prepared to drink water. I have Crystal Light packets if you want flavor. Format Teams will be roughly divided between the forces of "good" and "evil" (subjective, I know so I'm using those terms), depending on how many players of each army type show up. The event will run from 1000 hours until 2000 hours and we will get in as many turns as time allows. The side that has accumulated the most victory points by the end of the game wins bragging rights. We will be playing a scenario right out of the Apocalypse rule book but we will not be stating what it is until the event. It is too easy to break Apocalypse and knowing the mission in advance doesn't help this. Build an army and have fun!
  5. Hello there, Some details changed so I edited the original post. I am also making a new post that will be for official lists, etc. Sorry about that... don't want folks confused with the clutter.
  6. Mr. Graham, Thank you for posting an excellent list! Please feel free to bring MORE if you'd like and there is no painted requirement. Bring the Transcedant C'tan because super heavies are cool and it can go after those titans that VonVilkee is bringing. And yes, if you can only make it one day then SATURDAY would be optimal. EDIT: I just received information from work and this might now be a Saturday-only event Stay safe, don
  7. NOTE: I would have voted "use existing Imperial Knights rules" if it were an option but the home brewed rules should really make them as tough / comparable to Imperial Knights, rather than titans
  8. Android, Would love to have you come out Sunday! Orks can come rushing in, itchin' for a scrap! And with regards to points values, I am going to run the event in a very casual manner... basically, bring what you want. Folks will bring in points values that keep the sides roughly even. It's not going to be rocket science and we'll reserve the right to just flow and have fun. But I do want to keep some kind of cap going during play so someone can't show up and plop 8000 points on a table where folks have battled for hours and are gonna get steamrolled. Thus, a "fielded point system" will be used unless folks yell their dissent. For example, at the start player A (good), players B and C (bad) and player D (neutral) are playing. Good fields 6000 points. Bad players bring 5000 points each. Neutral player only has 3000 points. Close enough. Scenario 2: good has 9000 points, bad has only 5000 and neutral only 3000. Good player should bring their force down a few thousand or has those "in reserve." You folks are all intelligent and we're all looking for a fun time. So we'll figure it out. I might fancy an initial "here's my complete force list of everything I'm bringing" and that way we can easily just total stuff up, etc.
  9. Hello there, I just did a quick points list on 40k Army Builder for my Adeptus Astartes. Before all the little wargear options I have roughly 10,250 points. So I can field a ton of reserves to fortify the breach.
  10. Hey thanks, I appreciate it! I'm working on playing Mr. Graham... the 9th and 16th are marked off on my calendar and I've written up a 2000 point army list! Will happily do more firearms safety courses, just let me know!
  11. And Mr. Graham I PM'd you about gaming. /happy dance
  12. Oh and regarding the crab pots... the homestead is less than 2 miles from Birch Bay's waters, if that helps. If you know where the C shop is, it's right down the road. VonVilkee, it's up to the player base regarding the home brew rules. If folks would rather just used established rules, I'm cool with that. If folks don't mind then I'm cool with that, too.
  13. Hello there, PumpkinHead there are no paint requirements... so please consider yourself invited on the list! Your hive fleet just happened to be in the system and saw the apparent all you can eat buffet of forces going to the planet. Please start with the bad people.
  14. Hello there, I am actively looking for a Space Marine bike chassis with wheels. I do not need the fairing, handlebars, saddlebags, rider or anything else. Obviously if all of that is attached to the bike chassis and wheels I'll make due. If anyone is willing to part with one, please let me know what you would like in exchange. I have money, bits, a strong work ethic, witty banter, useful skills for a host of needs and the like. Posting in the local forums in order to hopefully save on shipping and such. Plus I love you fine folks! Stay safe, don
  15. Generalripphook, you are hereby requested to play your Imperial Guard as loyal servants of the Imperium of Man. On my note sheet thus far this would work best to "even out" the currently arrayed forces. Thank you for your consideration to this, it's appreciated. However if you normally play them as "evil Guard" and want to do that, just please let me know and we'll easily make that happen. :)
  16. Oh hey, before I forget: if folks need some models to flesh out their forces, I will have models from the following armies here that you can borrow for those crucial extra bodies to throw into the mix... * Tyranids. A lot of them. Like eight feet of shelving worth of them. Lots of troop mobs. Lots and lots and lots. * Tau. Pretty good selection, probably 3k+ points? I think there's 2 riptides, 3 broadsides, 15 crisis suits, 6 transports, etc. * Eldar. A veritable ton. Like... a lot. Like eight feet of shelving worth of them. * Orks. A good fair sized amount but sadly no transports really. But lots of footsloggers, so that's a bonus. * Chaos Space Marines. Not very many but I do have over 50 cultists now. ha ha. Pretty small force otherwise, though. * Necrons. A bunch I'm planning on playing with my beloved space marines and I can field a ton.
  17. Hey bud, Welcome back! Glad you decided to come back to the game / hobby on your terms. Looking forward to playing with ya! Stay safe, don P.S. What's kill team?
  18. And so far it appears that the weekend of September 13th and 14th is what I'm going to plan for. That'll give attendance a boost and also be far away enough from OFCC for folks to recuperate. I've edited the original post to reflect these dates. Stay safe, don
  19. Hello there, Thank you so far for the replies... just a quick batch of thoughts through my house leads me to thinking something along these lines with regards to the storyline / atmosphere: * forces of the Imperium investigating rumors of STC tech on the planet * unbeknownst to the Imperium forces, the planet DOES hold some tech on it... but it ain't STC. It's alien in design. And would you lookit that? The Necrons appear to own it and are rising to defend it * the Eldar and Dark Eldar know that having either the Necrons or the forces of the Imperium to take possession of this tech would prove dire for the Eldar's continued survival, so they are hustling to eradicate both forces from the planet * Corey's "despise the Imperium" forces can't resist getting their hands on the tech for their own nefarious purposes, so they toss their gauntlet into the ring as well So far looking to be a pretty good crack up of forces! I will start to paint my 4th RoB board starting tomorrow in the same color scheme as the others so we'll have a somewhat cohesive-looking tabletop. My forces will not all be painted, sorry. The ox is slow but the Earth is patient. :)
  20. Hello there, Topic title says it all: I'm looking for a good copy of the Pathfinder RPG book "Guide to the River Kingdoms." I understand that I can get a computer copy through Paizo; I prefer books and will go that route if absolutely necessary. The book is out of print and the only copies I see are $ 30+. Any assistance is appreciated. Stay safe, don
  21. Hello there, Advanced warning that I am going to bump this to the top so I can keep track; my apologies if this is in poor form and please let me know if I'm not supposed to do it. What: Warhammer 40,000 Apocalypse event When: Saturday, September 13th, 2014. Set-up begins as early as 0900 hours, with the first turn starting promptly at 1000 hours. How: I have a pole barn that can accommodate everything we need. I have tables. I have (4) Realm of Battle boards so the gaming environment will be 16' by 6' (8 tiles wide, 3 tiles deep). You can leave your gear in the barn if you need to leave and come back, etc. Security is tight at the homestead, no worries. This is a one-day event with open timeframes. That is, the event opens on Saturday, September 13th at 1000 hours. Folks can come when they want and just game. If folks come in later, think of them as reinforcements. If folks have to leave, think of them as regrouping. Thus, battles will be going on for undetermined times. We close up the event on Saturday at 2000 hours so folks can have the rest of the evening to chill. I will provide mission details for overall tactical thoughts and have forces divided based upon the armies coming and storyline. Needless to say there will be reasons for conflict and allegiances may shift depending upon what each army's goals are. What I would like from you, dear reader: 1. If you are interested, please state so. 2. If you are interested, please list the army that you would be using and how you currently utilize this army in terms of fluff (i.e. "traitor Guard" or "Eldar that tend to want to destroy everyone" or "Tau that are striving to work with the Imperium" or whatever). 3. If you are interested, please feel free to make this your event and come up with any special rules, ideas, whatnot that you want. I can provide a basic framework, location and all that jazz... but the players make events! There will be restrooms and running water, I can have a BBQ going, and the event will be covered from elements and have lighting and such so no matter the weather we should be good to go. If this sounds like a good idea, please reply and let me know how I can get this going! If this sounds like a load of rubbish because I live up in Birch Bay and no one wants to drive, let me know how I can make this work down at Dark Tower Games or whatnot. I got back into 40k when 6th edition launched. I've played two &%@#$* games. This sucks and I want to play! Stay safe, don
  22. Hello there, Thanks for all the kind words, folks... it's appreciated. I've finished the third board and it matches a bunch of the other pieces so a pretty nice apocalypse board (4 boards long, 3 boards wide) can be made. I've gotta get it down there (work still kicking my butt, sadly) but there will be three tables down there. I have a fourth I'll paint up but probably keep here for if I ever get to playing at the house. Stay safe, don
  23. Hello there, See if this link works... http://investor.games-workshop.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/2013-14-Press-statement-final-website.pdf Stay safe, don
  24. Hello there, Didn't the latest report from GW to their investors highlight all the extra money they dumped into streamlining their business structure? If I recall correctly (and memory is inherently flawed, mind you) there was a large input of capital this year into re-adjusting their business model which impacted "the numbers" or "the line." Worth looking into. Stay safe, don
  25. Hello there, I have the following models and are not planning on using them in my burgeoning chaos army: * defiler * DV hellbrute * Dv hellbrute If anyone local wants/needs them for their chaos army, please let me know. Be happy to trade, give if times are tough, sell, etc. They are primed and one has a rough paint job on it (basically a base coat). I did not do this, they came as part of a package deal. Anyway, want to help out the local gamers if they need it. If you need feedback on my prior trades, giveaways, etc. just ask on the local forums. Stay safe, don
