  1. Hello there, If the stars align and I happen to be able to come down on board game night or other night he's there I would HAPPILY talk with him. Like, not even a second thought given to this... be happy to. Plus it goes with my "doing better on my end to game locally" plan... I'll be down the 30th and the 1st for 40k games so hopefully we'll have an introduction.
  2. Right on! Please let me know the dates so I can schedule! And if we want another classroom session, please let me know as I'm willing to help out anyone in the club/community.
  3. Hello there, Just my two cents, but then again conflict is my job so take it for what it's worth with regards to experience, training, etc. ONE. If the Warhamsters have a code of conduct, POST IT IN THE GAME ROOM IN CONSPICIOUS AREAS. Each wall could have tastefully printed up propaganda that not only (a) advertises the gaming community locally; (b) lists the code of conduct that is tolerated and © shows that you folks are serious about having a healthy, community-oriented gaming community. I seriously doubt Mr. Williams would have a problem posting small framed things on the walls in conspicuous areas as it would look better for the business as well imho. That way no one can claim ignorance. TWO. If it's just occurring on board game night, someone from board game night has to bring it up, or contextually it loses its impact. If folks at board game night are uncomfortable with this, then they should let an EMPLOYEE know... as ultimately the business is what will suffer if folks stop coming around. The business allows the gaming group to gather in a quid pro quo fashion so we are respectful, represent the local gaming community well, buy stuff, etc. etc. and the employees can keep the harmony inside the business. If this guy's being a jack@$$ then the "offical" representatives of the business should deal with him when it occurs. Now, if folks wanna be nice about it then talk to him in during game night first and THEN go to employees if it doesn't take. But I've found that the average person won't start the conversation, hoping someone else will or just avoiding the person. Just my thoughts and would be happy to help in any way I can. You folks have a positive, welcoming community that folks like... let's make sure that (a) folks know about it; (b) folks know the expectations and © folks know the consequences. Stay safe, don
  4. intrizic, That is very nice of you, thank you. But I must do SOMETHING... hmmmm. It seems we've reached an impasse. (cue western standoff music) lol
  5. intrizic, Thanks for the offer... I just can't seem to wrap my head around it as a model. Thinking the speeder would look cooler but then again, what do I know? heh What'cha looking to get for the darkshroud, sir?
  6. Hello there, Thanks folks, I appreciate it. I was *pretty sure* that this would be the train o' thought but wanted to make sure. I'm not liking the Ravenwing Darkshroud. I have a ton of speeders that I do like, however and plan on making a longer, Darkshroud-y version. It'll be a we bit smaller but sounds like it's okay. Hopefully it'll look good. Normally I just change lil' items or poses but who knows, maybe I'll start being like y'all and start letting more stuff out. Mr. Graham, your Nurgle helldrake looks FANTASTIC! Stay safe, don
  7. Hello there, First, my personal opinion and then my question to the local gaming crew... I feel the former may help illuminate why I am asking the latter. OPINION Some of GW's models aren't my cup o' tea aesthetically. I like to do conversions, usually using like 95% of GW product and sometimes green stuff or plasticard in order to make a more eye-catching model in my eyes. In those conversions I stick to the WYSIWYG principle. QUESTION Does the local gaming crew want EXACTLY or SUPER CLOSE TO EXACT the specifications of the original model when conversions occur? Or are dimensions that are pretty close okay? I ask because I do not want any potential opponents to think that I'm attempting to get or through chance obtain an unfair opponent due to the conversion and don't know if it's kinda frowned upon in the local gaming scene. Thank you in advance for your thoughts and input, as it will help me determine if I go through with the conversion or need to do something else. But in no way, shape or form will I field the GW model in its entirety because as my pops was fond of saying, "you can't polish a turd." Stay safe, don
  8. Hello there, Topic title says it all, really. I'm looking for a "complete" techmarine figure and servo-harness -OR- just a servo harness. Will trade any other bits, figures, pay money, etc. Stay safe, don
  9. Hello there, I am scheduled to work on 04-29 so please let me know what is discussed, come up with, agreed upon, etc. Thank you and stay safe, don
  10. Hello there, Just wanted to give a heartfelt "thank you!" for the two slipcovers, sir. Picked them up today. Thanks again and stay safe, don
  11. Hello there, PM'd you concerning the war walkers. Thanks and stay safe, don
  12. Awesome, sounds great! I think the earliest one I can make due to work commitments is like October, which sucks but hey I should have my list honed by then and stuff painted... or at least that's the plan. Stay safe, don
  13. TW_Haines, Cool deal... yeah, I'm just gonna post each week to try and scare up some games... figure that no one will mind, as that's what the boards are for amongst other things. Stay safe, don
  14. Hello there, How did the event go? Hopefully well! I had work and was late at shift due to some craziness but very interested in hearing about how it went! Stay safe, don
  15. Hello there, /agreed I don't play for anyone but me. I play my themed army and if I "lose" so what... how do you "lose" in having fun? I play the game, I have a good time with my opponent and I enjoy the hobby that brings me joy and satisfaction. If I get tabled, it'll be a cool story and give me the impetus for working on the counterattack next game! My son and I just started an ork army. It's gonna have a tide of orks and lots of trukks. They just want a proper fight and that's what they'll do. If it isn't the "list of the month" or the list that brings me the best chance of "winning," so be it. 'Cause it'll be an epic time and having fun is what it's about. Stay safe, don
  16. Hello there, I like the more-subtle lighting effect from the weapons systems and such... contributes to a more eerie feeling. Kind of a "ghost in the machine" feel to it... If that's what you were going for, success! Very clean looking, I like it... well done! Stay safe, don
  17. Jayne_Cobbb, copy that on the 1st. We'll do 4pm and I'll be bringing Dawson as soon as he gets home from school. So if we're right at 4pm or a skosh tardy, that's why. Stay safe and we're very happy that folks are willing to play! don
  18. Hello there, Hobbitron, let's plan for WEDNESDAY THE 30TH at 6:30pm, then. 1000 points should make for a quick, tidy game to boot. Thank you for wanting to play and I will put it on the calendar. Dawson said he would like to come along, so FYI. generalripperhook, sadly I can't make it down on THURSDAY THE 1ST until after Dawson gets home from school at 3:30pm. Holler if later works better. Jayne_Cobbb, if you'd like to play on WEDNESDAY at 4:00pm, we could do that. Or on THURSDAY at 4:00pm or later, lemme know. Thanks folks, I'll do my best to do a correct army list during the next few days. Stay safe, don
  19. LOL Jayne_Cobbb I guess that's one way to get the forfeit! Although I'm sure if/when you play you'll see that although "victory conditions" and such are part of the game, I personally consider my local gaming circle to be peers, mentors, confidants, friends and such. Thus, for me it's all about learning, strategizing, gaining perspective and being a worthwhile part of some folks' gaming lives! Hobbitron, thanks for checking but obviously don't rock the boat at home. My work schedule has firmed up and I have 4-day and 5-day blocks of days off in a row. Thus, I will have plenty of time to schedule games and as long as no one minds I plan on just tossing out weekly "who wants to play" posts on the Warhamster forums. If it works out, awesome. If it doesn't work out schedule wise, there's always the week after that, etc. Thanks for the replies, gentlemen... very welcoming. Stay safe, don
  20. Hello there, Looking for a friendly game of 40k with the following parameters: * either at my place (Birch Bay area) or at Dark Tower Games * 1000 points... call me old school but I start with foundational concepts and work up from there * patient opponent who is willing to help me with the ruleset What I will bring other than 40k materials: * a positive attitude * good sportsmanship * patience and appreciation for your efforts and willingness to play "the new guy" * my 13 year old son Dawson if he wants to watch and/or be my teammate * years of experience with 40k, just not with 6th edition. So I know a little bit On either day I am available most times, as they're my days off and I do not have overtime or court scheduled. Disclaimer: my job is unpredictable so I reserve the right to last-minute cancel or flat-out leave during the game in the case of a SWAT callout. I obviously will do my best to avoid either and to communicate to my opponent. Please let me know if you are interested. Thanks and stay safe, don
  21. Hello there, Thanks for the information folks. I guess I will toss the following out there: I will make plans to attend if (a) anyone needs a teammate or (b) anyone needs a "beer caddie." My 6th edition experience is next to nil... 1 game against someone that knew what they were doing. But my schedule is finalized and I have *tons* of days off and will be scheduling learning-curve games as of next week. However, I used to play 3rd edition tournaments all the time and held my own. Even did well at the Vancouver GT back when GW hosted such events. So no stranger to the competitive aspect but I will be strictly a fun player in this incarnation. Jayne_Cobbb, I googled "40k DMB" and that's the tournament on the east side, right? I have August 2nd and 3rd off and would only need to check the Friday schedule but would love to attend if a team needs me or if folks are looking for companions. I reckon now that I have a ton of personal stuff squared away and work has settled, I can get into the local gaming scene. My boy Dawson (13) also is my sidekick and wants to play as well. Very mature for 13 and will most likely accompany me during my outings, as he wants to live with me full time. Stay safe, don
  22. And on a side note... I'm off on vacation during that time so if you need transportation, a shooter, someone to lift heavy stuff, etc. etc. lemme know. In no way, shape or form will I try and get any worthy person's spot since (a) I dunno the game mechanics still and (b) not the party crashing type. But who knows, you might just need a driver down and/or back.
  23. Yay, thanks for helping me out! Appreciate it. And Mr. Graham... of course it would be there, eh? Ain't no way I'm gonna look in a "Propaganda" folder. Nu-uh, no siree!
  24. Waitaminute, we just send you a msg when we wanna come get it? Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww yeeeeeaaaaaahhh. (Sorry, everyone else was going that way)
  25. Side question: I hear a lot about OFCC and the event but as of yet haven't really found a comprehensive "what it's about" other than gleaning that (a) it's a tournament-type thing for multiple games; (b) in a hotel; © in Oregon? If it's an annual road trip type of thing and it's not too much trouble, even if just tossing a "you idiot Don look here" link, that'd be gravy. I like to long-term plan stuff to accomodate scheduling and used to do tournaments, am always a designated driver and can run security for our team should someone get out of line (on either side). :)
