  1. Mr. Graham, Dawson and I really enjoyed the video and we're super psyched! In addition to the size idea listed above, have you thought about "themed pledges?" For example, "crystal wonderland" includes x of this, x of that, etc. while the "graveyard set" includes this, that, etc. I don't know if that makes it more trouble than it's worth, so please feel free to discount the idea. And reflecting, folks can probably just do a custom order to make their own themes. Bah, I'm stupid. Please disregard my suggestion. Please remind me when it goes live, because Dawson and I are all in! Stay safe, don
  2. Hello there, Congratulations on your purchase... may you enjoy it! If you haven't yet, read up on and do the following: 1. set the suspension preload 2. set the suspension compression and rebound Hugely important. My apologies if you're a veteran cyclist and know this already. But in case you didn't, I want you to enjoy the ride even that much MORE! And it's so easy to do and pays immediate dividends. Stay safe and rubber side down, don
  3. /bumping up for any last questions, comments or concerns Handgun on the 25th at 1800 hours (6pm) Rifle on the 26th at 1200 hours (noon) Both classes will be at the Bellingham Police Department training room (off of C Street), at 505 Grand Avenue, Bellingham WA 98225. If you park on C Street you should see a lil' purple Honda Fit with a Batman head sticker on the rear... the open gate is near this car. Bring nothing but a willingness to learn and a good attitude, please. Stay safe, don
  4. Hello there, I dropped off my Chaos bitz box at DTG today around 1600 hours. It's behind the counter and has a note with "Jon" on it. Take what'cha need sir, hope it helps. Stay safe, don
  5. Hello there, I would be interested in purchasing the "expansion" set. Stay safe, don
  6. Hello there, The location will be the Bellingham Police Department, 505 Grand Avenue, Bellingham, WA 98225 We will use the TRAINING ROOM which is located on the C Street side of the complex. Basically, park your vehicle or show up on foot/bicycle/sled dog/dragon on C Street. The man gate will be open and a sign reading "Police Training" will be nearby. Go through this man gate, take a hard right and the training room's double glass doors are in front of you. For logistical purposes, please do me a favor and COMMENT BELOW IF YOU ARE COMMITTING TO GO AND TO WHICH DATE (OR BOTH). Even if you've already committed above, please do so again after this post so I can get gear squared away. Thanks and stay safe, don
  7. Hello there, FRIDAY, JULY 25th - BASIC HANDGUN OPERATOR COURSE Course will start at 6pm, giving folks time to get there after work and also giving some time afterwards for folks to do something. Will be a TWO to THREE HOUR course, depending upon number of participants and such. Kids are welcome, +1s are welcome so no worries. You need to bring nothing but a positive attitude, I'll supply the gear. No need to bring your own handgun. SATURDAY, JULY 26th - BASIC AR OPERATOR COURSE Course will start at noon, giving folks time to wake up and also giving some time afterwards for folks to do something. Will be a TWO to THREE HOUR course, depending upon number of participants and such. Kids are welcome, +1s are welcome so no worries. You need to bring nothing but a positive attitude, I'll supply the gear. But if you have your own AR-style weapon system, feel free to bring it but KEEP IT IN SOME KIND OF CASE AS I DO NOT WANT YOU SHOWING UP TO A POLICE DEPARTMENT WITH AN EXPOSED WEAPON SYSTEM (open carry view or not, deal with it) More information to post, wanted to get the dates confirmed. Stay safe, don
  8. Hello there, I have never professed to be a supreme Tau commander, nor do I play one on TV, so please take this with a grain of salt. I tend to play for storyline / narrative and model based upon what my son, my wife and I think looks cool or would be fun to use. So with those caveats... 1. XV8 Crisis battlesuit loadouts I think the airburst fragmentation projector is just so/so... nothing really making it a "oooh get this" choice I think the burst cannon is only viable if I pay the extra points, make them 2 single weapons choices and just load out the entire squad with them. 3 suits with a total of 24 shots (which should be markerlighted and possibly even supported by gun drones) means that you're rolling a HUUUUUUUUGE amount of dice and taking care of light infantry. I think flamers aren't really my cup of tea, as I don't like being that close to folks. But I know some folks like them. I think the fusion blaster (melta basically) has some extra range and that helps for the ol' reliable deep strike / pop the vehicle / wait I'm still over 12" away from the folks bailing from the slagged vehicle and won't be assaulted yay I think the missle pods are nice, but are better used on other suits (i.e. Broadsides). Low shot output though and I use my XV8's for more output usually I think that the plasma rifles (which I find to be the most popular loadout that I see) are good, even though not a big shot output. Load out a second one to help. I like using shield drones for basically ablative armor... lots of AP4 stuff out there 2. RANGED WEAPON COSTS In Codex: Tau Empire on page 95 it reads to me as if you could pay the higher points costs for "a standard, single version" instead of HAVING to pay the lower points costs for "two weapons (counting as a twin-linked weapon of that type)." But again, that's how I read it... and to me that "counting as a twin-linked weapon of that type" statement cements it. If you don't want the weapons being twin-linked, pay the single weapon points cost twice. Note: I believe that GW even FAQ'd this and made it their "official" view. Hope it helps and again, I'm sure there are brighter stars out there with regards to Tau. Stay safe, don
  9. Hello there, I can drop off my Chaos bits box down at DTG if you'd like. Just rummage through them to see what you can use and then lemme know when to pick it up? A quick glance of contents: * cultist bodies * pouches, sheathed blades, capes, etc * CSM helmets and bare heads * guns * CSM backpacks * CSM legs * CSM arms with weapons (CC and ranged) * CSM shoulder pads * some daemon bits * CSM torsos * IG arms w/weapons * vehicle parts and CSM vehicle parts / spikey bits Be happy to help out and hopefully you can find something you can use? I'm still a bit aways from really paying my burgeoning CSM army any real attention so haven't decided what I'm going to do with it. Just let me know and I'll drop it off at DTG or wherever for you. I work Monday night shift and then am off but go into town on Friday for a training. Stay safe, don
  10. +++++ INCOMING TRANSMISSION +++++ + + + TRANSMITTED: vessel "Errant of Alman" + + + RECEIVED: vessel "Astral Star" + + + DESTINATION: Classified + + + DATE: 5995999.M41 + + + TELEPATHIC DUCT: Astropath K'Bano + + + REF: CF/90840958940324323432/AA + + + AUTHOR: Codicier Arkiald + + + SUBJECT: Recon Force - New Callisto + + + THOUGHT: The reward for treachery is retribution Brothers, As requested a reconnaissance force was dispatched to New Callisto (REF: A12343488, attached) to determine if the intelligence obtained by Operative Kilra proved accurate. Planetfall was made via standard infiltration/exfiltration protocols and consisted of members of the 2nd and 3rd Companies: Myself and 1 command squad, 2nd Company mounted on bikes - TWO CASUALTIES Tactical squad Alpha, Sergeant Magge, 3rd Company. 2 combat squads in a Rhino transport - SQUAD DESTROYED Tactical squad Bravo, Sergeant Byormi, 3rd Company. 2 combat squads in a Rhino transport - SQUAD DESTROYED 2nd Company attack squadron mounted on bikes - TWO CASUALTIES 77.42% CASUALTIES SUSTAINED / DEEMED ACCEPTABLE After orbital confirmation, Recon Force Arkiald progressed to the last-known location of the Aquila lander "Victorious." Approaching from the east the Aquila was observed and was a total loss, presumably from impact from a large, now-ruined building. As the Recon Force progressed towards the ruined lander the confirmation of Operative Kilra's intelligence was announced by drop pods landing amongst our force. The traitorous Iron Warriors made their presence known and warfare erupted; please reference the attached encrypted file for tactical debrief (REF: B13294083, attached). The opposing force consisted of approximately the following (my apologies if errors exist): 4 drop pods 4 combat squads of 5 - EIGHT CASUALTIES 1 sterngaurd squad, to include the force leader - SQUAD DESTROYED 1 ironclad dreadnought - HEAVILY DAMAGED 1 scout squad 1 land speeder storm 53.85% CASUALTIES SUSTAINED INITIAL ENGAGEMENT The Iron Warriors deployed an ironclad dreadnought and a tactical squad immediately into our ranks via drop pod. The command squad was beset upon immediately and was forced to break ranks to engage one of the enemy combat squads. As more of the enemy descended via drop pod it was clear that they were deploying for more than the obvious, as they focused on holding six different locations on the battlefield. Our Recon Force did not challenge these locations and instead attempted to bait the objective into engaging by splitting targets and spreading out, utilizing mobility for additional security. ONGOING ENGAGEMENT Both Rhino transports suffered early damage and held as fire bases for the tactical squads while the units on bikes attempted to engage from flanking positions. The western area of the battlefield was given to the Iron Warriors in order to keep their forces from consolidating; what gaining these objectives did for the traitors is unknown and the Recon Force was content with allowing their force their trivial victories. Casualties were minimal to the traitors while our force had suffered acceptable losses to this point, mostly from the rampaging dreadnought. ENDING ENGAGEMENT As the battlefield continued to spread the traitors' forces, our target and his retinue landed at last. Myself and Apothecary Zelou were mired in close combat with a combat squad but I could sense their leader's presence to the east. The trap had been sprung. Sergeant Droma and his attack squadron relentlessly mowed down the retinue; even intervention from the accursed ironclad dreadnought (who miraculously survived this conflict) did not thwart Sergeant Droma's squad, as their ability to hit and run proved to be more than a match for the plodding traitor. In the end, the enemy leader fled for the apparent safety of nearby ruins but instead learned first hand of the 2nd Company's tenacity when their prey is located. Exfiltration was as expected due to the mobility advantage possessed by our units. The enemy force leader has been transported via stasis by 2nd Company to our vessel; identity of this force leader has been confirmed as detailed in +++ VERMILLION LEVEL ENCRYPTION REF: F123904183 +++ Interrogator-Chaplain Adeen will force repentance shortly. Operative Kilra should receive commensurate commendations for her work in locating the enemy force leader and 3rd company's sacrifices are not to be forgotten, as their noble sacrifice allowed our true mission to be an overwhelming success, with casualty rates 18% away from unacceptable levels. Our vessel is leaving the system and will link-up with Strike Force Archimedes, as ordered. Respectfully submitted, Codicier Arkiald +++++ END OF TRANSMISSION +++++
  11. Hello there, Bumping this up in the forums to confirm interest. Looking at FRIDAY, JULY 25th in the evening for the handgun course and SATURDAY, JULY 26th in the daytime for the rifle course; that way it's useable chunks o' information and no one gets swamped. I hope that more folks are interested but will run with what we have. I can supply the equipment for the handgun class no problem. For the rifle class I can supply the equipment as well unless folks wanna bring their own long guns for familiarity. Questions, comments and concerns are appreciated and welcomed... I wanna do this for the community so hopefully we can get some @$$es in the seats! Stay safe, don
  12. Hello there, I rather like your sculpting... I have yet to attempt to do any "green stuff" work myself so will have to research how to do it. I think the sculpting you added adds to the dynamics of the models without being too much of the centerpoint... methinks when they're painted you won't know that any "custom" work has been done and nothing looks out of place which benefits the overall composition in my mind. Great job! Stay safe, don

Hello there, FYI mailed them today via USPS to the address you provided. Stay safe, don
  14. Hello there, And as always, dates are somewhat flexible... if the majority of folks can make it on other days, lemme know and I can check the schedule. Raak gets top billing though as he is the requestor, so he gets the honor of making sure the scheduled dates work for him and his +1. I have differing days off so can do these courses on non-weekend dates if need be. Just toss out dates and I'll reply. Would rather be able to teach to a larger group so we can progress to level 2 and such. Stay safe, don
  15. Hello there, Basic handgun course. Familiarization with the weapon system, making it safe, loading/unloading, and basic shooting concepts/principles. ** If you went through it, more training never hurts ** Basic rifle course. Same as above, but with AR-15 weapon systems. If you have a different weapon system, you can bring it but no guarantees that I can work it like an AR. (One trick pony claims will be happily accepted... but I'm really, really, really good at that one trick) I'm thinking of the following dates: FRIDAY, JULY 25th - evening SATURDAY, JULY 26th - noonish ** Please do me a favor and reply on these boards as to interest levels and to what date so I can secure a training location and equipment ** Stay safe, don
  16. Hello there, Just wanted to post that Thursday is still looking good. Subpoena'd for court earlier in the day, but 6pm-ish should still work just fine. Looking forward to this in a HUGE way! Stay safe, don

Hello there, Just put aside (17) basic SM helmets for ya. Please advise what I can do next for ya... if you want me to ship 'em, fine just provide an address. I'm way up north (like Canadian border north) so unless you're coming up to Bellingham or are in Bellingham, hello USPS. Stay safe, don

Hello there, I'll do my best to look through my SM helmet bits bag as soon as I can, but should be able to help out. 17 standard helmets as in completely standard, nothing in the way of iconography or whatnot? Or just SM helmets that aren't beaky (i.e. there's a captain's helmet, here's a techmarine, etc. etc.)? Stay safe, don
  19. Hello there, ChaosGerbil makes good points. I've gotten back into the hobby after a decade away and the prices are what they are, since apparently GW and FW and others don't bother to consult with me prior to making their price points. The nerve! As silly as it might sound, I really took to heart some articles' content written by Vetock and Johnson: I concentrate on the hobby aspect and found that it helps immensely. I work on the modeling. I work on the painting. I design a narrative to play and do my best to have fun if and when I can play. If you can find a couple of "battle buddies" that can regularly game with you, no matter the points level, then you're set. Now, if you wanna play competitively and tournament wins make you happy and all that stuff... well, there's an entry fee for playing that way, just like other hobbies / sports / etc. And sadly, to play you usually have to pay. Stay safe, don
  20. Hello there, VonVilkee, we'll tentatively schedule for THURSDAY, JUNE 19th at 6pm. Please note that this is TWO Thursdays from now, not this coming Thursday. My schedule necessitates planning that far ahead, sorry. As the date gets closer I will confirm via messages and such. Stay safe, don P.S. Original post updated to reflect schedule fills.
  21. Hello there, Thanks for the ideas thus far... I'm continuing to explore. So far I'm leaning towards a longer, horizontal type display: http://www.ebay.com/itm/SHOWCASE-6FT-FULL-VISION-DISPLAY-CASE-WILL-DELIVER-/360932902123?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item54094704eb But I'm not liking the tinier shelves inside the case. Hmmm. Stay safe, don
  22. Hello there, Topic title really says it all. Interested in a friendly, "how to play" 40k game or games on the following dates: TUESDAY, JUNE 17 - between noon and 3pm (I have to teach at 5pm) WEDNESDAY, JUNE 18 - during the day THURSDAY, JUNE 19 - during the day I have a basic, 1000-point army list ready to go but would be able to make an army list for a different point value if needed/requested. Please post here if you're interested and I'll get back to you. Stay safe, don
