  1. Hello there, My apologies if this is in the wrong area, but I figured that this was the closest area to post in. I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts, experiences, suggestions, etc. on glass display case ideas for 40k armies to be stored in / displayed from. Thankfully I have the ability to incorporate them wherever, so space isn't as much of an issue. If it's a high school trophy case-sized display case, I can make it work. If it's multiple tower cases, I can make that work. Instead of remodeling the "dork den" and having to change it up later I figured I'd ask the community for a more permanent solution rather than the rows and rows of wall shelves I've installed and will most likely take down in the future. Any constructive input is appreciated. I understand that they're not cheap; that's okay because generally quality and / or craftsmanship isn't. Stay safe and thanks in advance, don
  2. Hello there, Thanks for the kind words, they're appreciated. Hopefully I will supply stuff that's up to par with expectations and can bring honor to the gaming community. I'm working on a second set of boards now so hopefully in a couple of weeks there will be another set down there. Shameless plug: please don't forget that I'm going to do my best to host a big @$$ apocalypse game up at the pole barn in September, when I have oodles o' vacation time. Brats, burgers, bombs, bolters and... other stuff that starts with B. Stay safe, don
  3. Hello there, Last night Dawson and I dropped off the first Realm of Battle game board at Dark Tower Games. Please look at it and lemme know what'cha think... I did what I could to make it pleasing to the eye but as always welcome constructive criticism. I'm working on the second board now and doing my best to keep the same motiv, so an apocalypse board can be made at the shop. Hope y'all like it. Stay safe, don
  4. Hello there, Since we're tossing out opinions and perspectives, here's mine! :) I'll gladly play anyone, any list, any points, any way you want it (/cue Journey music) If you bring the aformentioned 9 flying hive tyrants then expect my fellas to do their very best to serve the Emperor and defend humanity in the best way they can. If that means a messy death, so be it... but I'll toss out an encrypted short-burst coded message to the rest of the Chapter noting the time, place and hive tyrants in order to exact brutal and punishing revenge somewhere down the line. If someone wants to flood the table with Daemons, right on! They'll have fun doing it and I'll have fun doing my best to banish them to the hell from whence they came. If someone wants to... you get the picture. You have fun. I'll have fun. And oh! the tales we'll have to tell! It's not "winning," it's not "losing..." it's creating a wonderful time. And considering it's a fargin' game and no one is actually shooting at me trying to kill me, I reckon that's an awesome day from my perspective! :) I'm so looking forward to playing with you guys, I really am! Everyone's been so cool to chat with! I'll have my lil' notebook with me, taking notes for the after-action reports and noting things for future storylines! Oh and if anyone ever needs to borrow models for their force, just holler... if I can help, be happy to! 'Nids, marines, Tau, Eldar, Orks, Necrons and Chaos thus far. And man do IG look tempting! Stay safe, don
  5. Hello there, Supposedly the new "Battlefield Omaha" trailer leaked. http://www.polygon.com/2014/5/28/5757356/battlefield-hardline-trailer Stay safe, don
  6. Hello there, Thanks for the replies, fellas... it's appreciated! I'm gonna just keep posting availabilities as I find them so when the stars align and we can play, we shall! In the meantime, I'll continue to paint figures, vehicles and such in preparation. My work schedule is generally 5 on / 4 off / 5 on / 4 off / 5 on / 5 off so my days off rotate but we'll get some time I bet! And I'm starting to study the rulebook so I at least have passable info on the game... heh. Stay safe, don
  7. Hello there, Topic title says it all. I know that 7th edition just dropped; my days off just started and I'll start to read the rules tonight after teaching. Wondering if anyone is interested in playing a 40k game on any of the following days: WEDNESDAY the 28th after 7pm THURSDAY the 29th either during school kid hours or in the evening FRIDAY the 30th either during school kid hours or in the evening SATURDAY the 31st time to be determined, as Saturday is errand day as well Please leave a post here if you're interested. Unfortunately my schedule can change at a moment's notice but I do my best to not let life intrude on scheduling committments. I will happily field whatever points value you want to play but already have a 1000-point list ready to go if you'd rather have a small, "get to know 7th edition" game. Stay safe, don
  8. Hello there, For those of you that use eBay, they're recommending that you change your password after a hack: http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/ebay-tells-users-change-passwords-hack-attack/story?id=23809703 Stay safe, don
  9. Hello there, For those of you that have an eBay account, they're recommending you change your password after a hack: http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/ebay-tells-users-change-passwords-hack-attack/story?id=23809703 Stay safe, don
  10. Hello there, If you're concerned about the "weirdness" of having limited quantities in stock at a given time, perhaps just put up a disclaimer or statement that gives your position. As a consumer, I'd have no issues with the possibility of a slight delay if I read the manufacturer's statement that reads something like "I care to make good stuff... so I take my time and do a bang up job of it. No mass produced crap here" etc. etc. It's like when folks have me build them AR platforms... I give them three options: DONE RIGHT; DONE QUICKLY; DONE INEXPENSIVELY. And they only get to pick TWO of the choices. Stay safe, don
  11. Hello there, As a previous poster stated, the background does make the monitor / screen appear dirty. Plus, would some color work to entice folks, perhaps? I know simpler sometimes is better but TOO spartan might seem just... I dunno, "meh?" I can't describe what I'm thinking, my apologies. My son and I positively love the fact that we'll be able to order direct. Very excited for you and this wonderful opportunity! Congratulations! Stay safe, don
  12. Hello there, "It's not winning or losing, but how you place the blame." Folks that blame all the external factors and how the universe is conspiring against them, GW is favoring one army/ruleset/whatever, the sun was in my eyes, it was a plague of locusts, etc.... in my mind those folks stagnate both "professionally" (as gamers) and "personally." It's a game. Sure, a game that we've invested time, money, blood / sweat / tears in and sure there's "keeping score." But how about instead of looking at it in such a myopic way, you look at it as the development of a skill set, or gaining a better understanding of something you're devoting energy to? Handle yourself professional whether "winning" or "losing" and get that you can learn in either situation how to be a better player / opponent / representative of your gaming circle / etc. A "moral victory" is when you prove your belief is right but lose an argument. An @$$ kicking or tabling can sometimes just happen. Hopefully you can learn from it to attempt to prevent it from happening in the future. You grow. Your game grows. Yay to personal / professional development. Love the posts by so many in this thread so far! Stay safe, don
  13. Hello there, Please disregard this post, as I am a doofus. I don't know how to delete the post, sorry. I looked at the remaining stack of boards after making a (4) hill, (2) flat one and found that I have (2) hill and (4) flat left. So I dunno how they'll be organized. Apologies again for the post. Stay safe, don
  14. Hello there, I'm finishing up (2) Realm of Battle gameboards that I'm going to put at Dark Tower Games for Mr. Williams to have folks play on and have a question: * Do Warhammer Fantasy (or other games that I don't know about or play, sorry) gamers normally like flat tables? I have (12) board tiles and (4) of those are the hill portions. I was thinking of making one of the gameboards (4) hill portions and (2) flat ones for like 40k players or whatnot and make the other one (6) all flat ones. Is this overthinking it and both game systems would use the hill portions? Was just curious and any suggestions are appreciated. If it helps, I think he's going to put them on the (2) tables up by the register for demo models / demo games / whatever. And he's letting me pull 'em back to the pole barn for the end-o-summer Apocalypse battle so no worries there. Plus I have a line on another Realm of Battle gameboard for $ 75 so who knows, maybe we'll have (4) complete boards for the gaming group! Stay safe, don
  15. Hello there, GW talking a wee bit about the FOC, the "not necessary" FOC and formations for 7th edition: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7JnMByJVUow#t=34 Stay safe, don
  16. Hello there, Thank you for all the kind words, they're appreciated... but I was just doing my job that day, like so many others. On a side note: * 2 squares of the new Realm of Battle board are almost finished... just static grass, flowers and matte varnish to go! * 2 other squares are being started this weekend... primer and base coats hopefully done on Sunday * 1000 point army list done and I have a game on Monday against the Astra Militarum (that's what IG is called now, right?) * on the painting table a Mawloc/Trygon is almost finished, as is a Devastator squad of my son's chapter * Necron monolith primed and basecoated, next up on the painting table Looking forward to posting "available for gaming" for the week of the 19th after I figure out what days I'm available. Hope everyone's doing well! Stay safe, don
  17. Hello there, If you need any materials for this event, please let me know. I have plastic tables, (3) full realm of battle boards, etc. Happy to help. Stay safe, don
  18. Hello there, Have secured a game for 05-12, thank you. Stay safe, don
  19. Raak, I'm trying to recall Yarrik.. he's the leader with the big looted ork klaw thingamajig, right? From the Armageddon campaigns of old? I have ork bits like klaws n' such if you'd like anything like that, good sir. Or chaos stuff, too like the defiler fella n' bits. Just let me know. I work this week so can easily drop stuff off at DTG or whatnot. Happy to help out! Stay safe, don
  20. Hello there, Looking for a friendly game of Warhammer 40k on Monday, May 12th. Rare day off with nothing scheduled so far so I'm available from 0900 hours until evening. I can bring any points level you want but give the warning that I'm extremely new to this edition and thus don't know all the rules / etc. I have a 1000 point army list chock full o' stuff that I'd like to see how it plays because it employs a lot of the various rules, but again I can play whatever point level you want. I know some of you are prepping for tournaments and such so want to be flexible for you. Please take into consideration that I drive 30 minutes or so to come to DTG so if you think you might not be able to fully commit, add that in your response. I totally understand so please don't take it in the wrong way, I'll just know to give you my cell phone number so you can text me if something comes up. Stay safe, don
  21. Raak, I'm constrained by my work schedule but will continue to post "hey, can anyone play 40k" in the Warhamster forums. My schedule somewhat sucks but that being said, I'll be looking to play! I tried to play twice last week but my opponents had real life crash down so we had to reschedule for calmer seas. Tuesday nights at DTG are out because I teach at WCC until 2000 hours but that'll end in June so perhaps then I can come in on Tuesdays! Stay safe, don
  22. Jayne_Cobbb, My son and I should be there around 1600-ish, depending upon traffic. Coming from up north and his bus usually gets him here around 1530. Stay safe, don
  23. Hobbitron, No worries at all! Dawson and I got to DTG and heard the news... hope all is well! Family first so no worries on this end. Stay safe, don
  24. Hello there, This post bump is a friendly reminder that on WEDNESDAY, APRIL 30th at 1830 hours I have a scheduled 40k game of 1000 points with HOBBITRON. Also, on THURSDAY, MAY 1st at 1600 hours I have a scheduled 40k game of 1000 points with JAYNE_COBBB. My apologies in advance that my models will not be completely painted or built but their game footprints will be intact. I worked on all four days off but on the upside I got my army list completed! Stay safe and Dawson and I are very much looking forward to the games! don
