  1. Hello there, My wife bought a horse. Thus, I will be gaming soon due to suddenly having a wife that is off horsing around... or at least that's the plan. I have lots of 40k armies. I don't have much of it painted. I have only played three games in 7th edition, but have lots of experience in 3rd edition. I am planning on taking a more-strategic approach to army painting, building and gaming and this is where your perspective would be welcomed. What is a "starter game" points value these days? In 3rd edition it used to be 500 points. Basically, an HQ and two troops and you'd play fast games to learn some basics. But it seems to me that 40k kind has bigger points values or more bang for the buck, because the armies seem to be quite large. If you fine folks would please let me know what you think "starter game" points values are, I can roll from there. 500? 750? 1000? I reckon that once I get some kind of idea what points value is good for starting, I'll just start building army lists for my various armies and then paint those army lists. As I get more games under my belt I'll add to the points value and paint those models. Your thoughts are appreciated. Stay safe, don
  2. Hello there, Sorry I was away at ECCC this weekend, my apologies for the delayed response. Corey and Eli, I appreciate the trades thank you. Hope you like the models! bloodyfangs, whatever works best for you... I saw that someone moved your sammich bag o' models to the back where the "make terrain" table is. Please feel free to drop off whatever works back there and I'll pick it up whenever. If termies work for you, they work for me... no worries! If Death Company is better for you, so be it! The important thing for me is that you can use the models I dropped off! Stay safe, don
  3. On Monday the 23rd around 1415 hours I dropped off all the stuff in the game room, too much to put behind the counter. The transport and foam are in two white garbage bags... everyone's minis are in individually-labelled packages. Put it all on the floor near the terrain wall. Stay safe, don
  4. VonVilkee, sure the cadian crew members will be just fine... I can always use the bodies thanks. If you wanna keep the autocannons that's fine, too because I have a ton lying around. huggies01, I'll keep you in mind when I get another case that I don't need... generalripphook already called "dibs" on this one. If you're in a pinch and need one to borrow for an extended time, lemme know... I have a couple of the big green ones (can't remember their names) with the foamy inserts etc. that are just lying around whilst I figure out how the heck to get back into gaming locally. Be happy to help you out if you're in need of one on extended loan. Jayne_Cobbb... great point! I'm always coming around pluck foam and/or good foam due to my job, so if folks want me to keep it aside by all means just let me know... be happy to help, it just gets tossed otherwise. Stay safe, don
  5. bloodyfangs, whatever you want to part ways with is fine. IG preferrable over DA, as I just got into the former and have TONS of the latter. thanks for the consideration, i appreciate it! stay safe, don
  6. generalripphook, unfortunately that doesn't usually turn out well so i have folks (a) drop stuff off at the counter at DTG for me or (b) drop stuff off at the Bellingham Police Department's reception for me and i'm still going through the foam inserts so you'll get the army transport with a bunch in it and more to come stay safe, don
  7. *** THESE WILL BE DROPPED OFF AT THE COUNTER AT DARK TOWER GAMES ON MONDAY, MARCH 23rd PRIOR TO 1430 HOURS *** I have SWAT training that day and can stop by before I check in. Stay safe, don
  8. Hello there, Very nice modeling and painting... and back story! Well done indeed! Stay safe, don
  9. bloodyfangs, copy that. please see my last post for what armies I have... Basically, I don't have plans to use these models and if you fine folks can use them for your gaming needs then I'm happy. If you have a couple of items kicking around that you don't use but I can plug into my existing armies, everyone wins! If not, well that's not a big deal either... glad you can use them! I've set aside the models and will drop them off at DTG as soon as I can. I'll post here when I do. Stay safe, don
  10. VonVilkee, copy that... I'm sure we'll find something to trade. If not, not a huge deal, we'll figure it out. generalripphook, okey doke. *** Trade-wise I have the following armies and can always look for pieces: Dark Angels; Space Wolves; IG; CSM; Khorne daemons; Necrons; Eldar; Tau, Tyranids; Grey Knights and Orks. *** Just lemme know, not out to gouge folks here. Favorable trades for my local gamers because (a) you want it and (b) I don't need it. I'll set the stuff aside and drop it off at DTG when I get time. I'll give a heads up post here when I do. Stay safe, don
  11. Hello there, Thank you for taking the time to post up your first impressions. Looks like fun was had and some intel gained. Stay safe, don
  12. huggies01, ah yes the Genestealer cults! They were just kinda going around when I last played in 3rd... didn't they used to have cool @$$ limos and such for models? heh generalripphook, thank you... I'll look into that, appreciate it
  13. Thanks for the reply. I'm on record as *NOT* being a fan of "unbound." So battle-forged is the way I'll go. However, I'm obviously not a person that's gamed a ton in 7th edition (or 6th or 5th or 4th but I digress)... so I wasn't sure about possibilities. I got the Chaos Space Marine force because sometimes you just wanna watch the world burn, I guess... and the fluff I would gravitate towards would be Khorne with regards to daemons and/or army additions. But then this IG army literally came along with the CSM so I started thinking renegades. But I also am not a fan of cheesy army lists and would rather play to my own storyline and get mopped up but have fun rather than focus on winning. So I was thinking that the CSM would love to have some cannon fodder; thus, IG. But didn't know how hard it would be to have a daemon here and there with that force. And with regards to picking up what you're putting down... I'm not sure I do. I would think that a 'nids force with Tau and Eldar would bring my senses to near-madness because who would ever ally with 'nids? Is that what you meant (i.e. unbound is cheesier than a Velveeta tanker crashing into a Kraft factory in Wisconsin)?
  14. Hello there, I have the following items that I would like to trade for other items or gift to local gamers that demonstrate need: * (3) metal Vostroyan guardsman with lasrifles/bayonets * (4) metal Sisters of Battle seraphim - (2) with dual bolt pistols, (1) with dual hand flamers, (1) with bolt pistol and power sword. *** THERE ARE ONLY 3 JUMP PACKS *** * (9) metal and plastic Thousand Sons chaos space marines - (8) with boltguns, (1) with bolt pistol and power sword. All with the cute hats * (1) Dark Vengeance sorcerer * (7) metal Nurgle chaos space marines - (4) with boltguns, (1) with plasma gun, (1) with meltagun and (1) with boltgun and power sword * (1) metal Ahriman figure * (1) black Sabol Designs Army Transport case - there's a bunch of foam inserts and pluck foam, like more than can fit in the case but it'll all go with the case when I move stuff out of them Anyhow, these were all in a recent bulk purchase and don't really fit in with my army plans. If no one takes them then I'll go all Fabius Bile on 'em and convert, but I wanted to offer them in case anyone with army-specific needs had an interest. Stay safe, don
  15. Hello there, When I get time I will research further, but I was hoping some of the friendly local gamers could point me in the right direction. Was fortunate enough to stumble upon a big slew of CSM and IG models on the cheap. I already had some CSM stuff so I figure that I'll paint them all up as a big Chaos-y force. My questions follow: 1. Is the appropriate codex for the renegade/traitor guard the Astra Militarium codex and then just paint them suitably Chaos-y? 2. If I choose to ally them with Chaos Space Marines, I'd use two detachments correct? The renegades and the CSM? I already have the makings of a small CSM army so I kinda got the guard army because of the existing CSM army. 3. If daemons enter the fray, is this even possible? (i.e. 3 detachments due to renegades, CSM and daemons) Now I understand that this, due to my gameplay record, is theoretical but let's assume I'm actually going to build army lists and play... quit your snickering! I just don't want to build a bunch o' renegade/traitor guard only to learn that allying them with an existing CSM/daemon force would be impossible. Thanks in advance for your input. Stay safe, don
  16. Bellingham Warhamsters: Doin' It With Cuteness Since (whatever date) Or something similar Stay safe, don
  17. Hello there, Agree with other posters. I dip 'nids in it and find that it shades and adds depth quite nicely... then I just paint carapaces. Stay safe, don
  18. Thank you for your efforts on this, it's appreciated. Stay safe, don
  19. (what'cha got for Orks n' Tau?)
  20. Hello there, Mr. Graham sells some cool resin terrain: http://worldsmithindustries.com/ Stay safe, don
  21. Hello there, I'm also game to see what's left. Stay safe, don
  22. Fantastic points brought up by the posters and my post in no way, shape or form is meant to detract from their thoughts. Don't forget about the easy-to-do effect of "battle scars" on vehicles: 1. Black slash or blob or whatever shape painted on 2. A boltgun metal-colorred slash painted over that, a little wrinkly to set the tone 3. A tiny highlight of a lighter-than-the-previous-metal-color painted over that slash And if the vehicle happens to be a metal color: 1. White slash or blob or whatever shape 2. Black painted over that, taking care to leave a thin, irregular white line at the bottom to give the viewer a false impression of light from above adding depth to the slash / hole / whatever Stay safe, don
