  1. The Pairings videos are coming out: PST Fri 5 pm Sat 6 AM Sat 9 AM Sun 6 AM Sun 9 AM I'll post a link when I have one.
  2. The more you go to the better! The system this year (which Godswearhats has posted about) rewards reliable GT placement more than one big win. The disklord was an addition to fill up the extra 300 points and repalce the lvl 2 metals, which didn't make sense with Khaine magic, He would normally add far too much comp, even if legions were allowed. End times stuff, for the most part, is not yet valued in swedish, and so is not allowed because a comp doesn't exist for it. The exceptions are lore of Undeath and 50% lords, which have been FAQd into the main rules, and included in the swedish comp system.
  3. Some players have started posting their lists early. I've added the link in the main post. Early Master's Lists A lot of these lists may look abnormal. Remember that they're trying to get a synergistic and strong list while trying to work within the Swedish handicapping system, which produces a lot of list diversity and some interesting experimentation.
  4. Cauldron's are great! Don't make the hag your BSB =P. I highly suggest getting an additional hero for that role.
  5. Yeah I'm basically taking my cheese grater list - the disk sorceror lord + 2 lvl2 metals. Also, here's to that! More Oregonians would be Great! There will be lots of qualifiers this year as any event with 32+ is a qualifier. Blacksheep and Ordo Open are both qualifier events.
  6. Hi everyone. As many of you know, for the first year this year the Pacific Northwest is sending a team to compete at the US master's competition in Durham, N.C. (Duke University area) The event is 6 games, banded swedish comp, and takes place Sat Feb 21 and Sun Feb 22. It's an 80 man event, with 10 from each region of the country. I'm going to post all the media links I find here if people are interested in checking out the hype videos and event coverage. There will be a series of youtube videos where podcasters talk about the various round one pairings and their lists. There should be some live event coverage as well. Lists are due today and the coverage videos will start late this week or early next week. Wish your region well! #TeamPNW Here's the 2014/15 Pacific North West Masters Team: · Riley Nadeau (Skaven) (Dimensional Cascade)(Seattle) · Ricky Fischer (Night Goblins) (Dimensional Cascade)(Seattle) · Anthony Greenman (Ogre Kingdoms) (Dimensional Cascade)(Seattle) · Ryan Munsell (Lizardmen) (Dimensional Cascade)(Seattle) · Dale Johnson (High Elves) (Chump Hammer)(B.C.) · Patrick Carolan (Warriors) (Chump Hammer)(B.C.) · Peter Davis (Lizardmen) (Chump Hammer)(B.C.) · Chris Powell (Chaos Dwarfs) (B.C.) · Jordan Ross (Warriors) (B.C.) · Matt Beasley (Daemons) (Portland) Coverage: All Pacific Northwest Army Lists Early Master's Lists Revealed Youtube Channel for Pairings Videos Raffazza Blog coverage Pictures of Masters Armies
  7. Well, he doesn't seem to be trying to take only a min-maxed list. As for lack of a role, it depends on the type of warriors army your running. If you're running a warrior block, sure they're weird and kind of awkward. In a chariot spam they're target saturation and are a hard hitting countercharge when a chariot breaks/flees. Sure you'd never take them over skullcrushers if you want the best of the best, but that doesn't mean they don't have a purpose. There is a difference between not having a role in a particular (or even dominant) build and not having a role in builds available in the book. Also, maybe he ends up going to a swedish event. 6 Dragon ogres with great weapons is 15 comp points, that's pretty cheap (because they're not amazing). *edit As far as dying before they get to swing, that's why 3 is bad, a bigger unit won't, they're 4 wounds a piece. Just don't throw them into the front of deathstars.
  8. 3X8 slanesh chosen with champs 3 Tzeentch Warshrines other stuff I just need 2 more warshrines =/ But it would be really fun to spend a tournament playing the "Can I poop a daemon prince?" game.
  9. Of the stuff you listed - here's the two things I think are really pretty solid. You can play with anything you want, but since you asked if you were getting distracted by mosnter and should be running other stuff - these two things really are solid regardless: Warshrine - Mark of Tzeentch. 135 points for WS5 T5 W5 3+ ward chariot. Gets stuck in stuff, in range of BSB doesn't break. How to kill a K'Daii? Frenzy bait with chaff and then charge it in the flank or rear with a 135 point warshrine. The buff spell is fine, but really not what you take it for, it's a bonus. Dragon ogres - while they're not one of the normal choices, they are amazing models, IMO there's one way to run these guys. You have to maximize the GW potential, this means taking enough dragon ogres to take a couple casualties before swinging and still hurt. A unit of 6 with great weapons gives you 18 S7 attacks, and, more importantly, gives you 12 S7 attacks after 2 die before they get to swing.
  10. Drak, Does undead legion make it so you don't need lore of vampires on the general?
  11. Hehe. I've seen people try to do weird stuff with walk between worlds, but never that one. One guy was accidentally using it like hand of Gork, just picking up his unit and putting it down anywhere with in range, backwards? different facing? Reforms? no worries! *best spell evaaaaa!* I figured he just meant to like get the right positioning or something.
  12. What email do we turn in lists to? I looked through the thread and didn't see one, probably missed it somewhere.
  13. Also realized I can't just use my swedish list because it's 625 core and a second lvl 2 metal makes 0 sense. Will modify it more.
  14. OK that makes sense on the tournament, thanks for the clarification! You haven't asked everyone. =P High elf lore attribute is different, they can do it from a loremaster and get *every* rulebook spell, at least it's on a lvl 2.
  15. 4 by swapping out 3. Unless you say "well, I know all the spells in high magic, because I have high magic, so I can drop those." In that case there is no limit. If you say that the rule that gives you all spells in a lore you know affects you at any point, rather than at the beginning of the game, you could do it an infinite amount of times. You say, I cast soulquench, end of turn, I switch it out for spirit leech. Next turn, I know high and death magic. Because I know high magic, even though I lost soul quench, I now have it, because you know all spells in lores you have access to, and we're applying this rule as a constant rather than a one time "the lore you picked when you built the list" thing. I cast soul quench. So who knows. End times rules! Don't get me wrong - I'm really enjoying the new models and options end times brings in, but like most stuff that seems not play tested there is some hit and miss-this is not exactly a polished ruleset.
  16. The Lore of High magic Lore Attribute swaps out high magic spells specifically, and you take High Magic. So the way this is interpreted, as a lvl 4, you then have 3 high magic spells (which means you have access to all high), and one death (so access to all death), next turn turn you drop another high and have access to all high, all death, and all metal, including meteoric iron. If you read it as "All spells in the Lore that they know" meaning the lore that they started the game with, and the additional spells as one off spells rather than access to a lore, than it just wouldn't do anything. I have no idea which is right, it could work that way. My concern is about the circumstance.
  17. Lustrian God, are you the TO or is here someone else running the event making the rulings decision and you're posting on their behalf? I ask because if you are the TO, and are playing in the event, I don't think this ruling is OK. You're talking about a ruling that has a huge power level effect on an army and is, as you say, up for debate. If you are making the rules decisions, I feel like if there is a ruling that directly benefits the army you know you are playing and the ruling is controversial, it would be appropriate to rule that you do not gain the all the other spells. If you're not the TO and just posting on their behalf, than never mind! *Note that it would be a non-issue if you used normal magic rules where a FAQ already exists. =P
  18. If you're talking about the Anvil discussion over on Bugman's, I agree wit the Salgar guy explaining why each anvil spell only works once. =P That said, I'm happy for my dwarf opponent to have a magic phase if it gets rid of 200 points of war machines. =P
  19. I would also vote for leaving out the new magic rules! But life will go on either way.
  20. Question on Scenario 5: Why does the weapon skill matter if the unit is suffering hits? Do you mean each model suffers a WS 4 ST 4 attack (which must roll both to hit and wound)?
  21. I was going to take my swedish list, drop a cannon, which put's it at a 15.5 and add a level 4 to fill the point gap and mess with end times magic, so like a 11 at 2800 points (so that's like a 12ish? feel). Never played with end time magic before, so not really sure what to expect.
  22. Legions of Chaos. *but promise not a stupid list.
  23. https://www.change.org/p/games-workshop-limited-refocus-your-business-model-on-the-sale-of-a-game-and-support-of-a-gaming-community-vice-the-pure-sale-of-collectible-miniatures This petition already exists and has 12K signatures. I signed it *shrug*. I'm guessing the number doesn't matter, at least until the company gets bought out *prays*.
