  1. But we are getting off topic here. This is a thread for IK to complain about poorly written rules in a league that he's going probably get 2nd in because he can win his town but ultimately loose to me.
  2. Jeeze... So many words to try and explain how a gamestore charging you to play is good. Charging by the hour/day or increasing the cost if your goods to cover the "dead" space created by tables is just lazy and bad business. Everything paying to play achieves can be achieved with good customer service and knowing your customers.
  3. Yea, I've never encountered this in any store in Oregon... Granted I've only been to the three in Southern Oregon and Eugene, Salem. And of course guardian games. The Medford Astral Games has... like 6 tables. Grants Pass has 1-3 depending on the day. None are pay to play. But yea, wouldn't pay to play at any store. That seems like a horrible way to foster grow within a community. And lazy. Great customer service and the ability to generate excitement for your products seems like a much better way to increase sales.
  4. Well did you win primary (tactical objective cards) And secondary (objectives)? First blood, linebreaker, slay the warlord? Edit: awww you said you scored 9 points. So your opponent only scored how many?
  5. I didn't mean to sound angry! It was an accident!
  6. So I just spoke with T the To and his intent was to stop things that are no longer a problem because of keywords. He wasn't 100% on how things worked and wanted to prevent anything like tau/eldar, tau/nids, sm/chaos, etc. If your army shares a keyword, have at it. So D, your khorne demons/chaos knights are fine.
  7. Also how did you score 28? Primary 4, secondary 3, first blood, linebreaker, stwl are all one for a total of 10 points... I'm assuming you meant you won 10 to like 2?
  8. Dude, stop reading to much into this. :) He has six months total 40k experience. And he's getting alot if information from me. Which is why he even knows what "Superfriends" is. Or Leaf blower, flying demon circus, necron air, Demi company, trip knights, nidzilla, lash princes, Draigo wing. Man... I've had alot of army's... Anyways he has heard of the terror that was inflicted by the OP lists of 6&7th and doesn't quite know how to word rules to rule things like that out. I will double check on things, but if you have an army you wanna bring, like renegade knights and demons, then go right ahead. And from what I hear, ITC no longer has the "no PL 31+" rule so bring your greater brass scorpions, greater demons etc.
  9. Well... Clearly you are missing something about this stratagem. I suppose I am too, but I'm far to lazy to look. I've not see one tournament in which this has been an issue. It hasn't been listed in the fixed part of the rules by ITC. No ad mech player I've seen has used it. And for something this theoretically powerful, alot of people are ignoring it in environments that would embrace it.
  10. Pretty sure you can only use a stratagem once per phase.
  11. So after talking with the TO last night, he will work to clarify things in the future. He didn't realize that even the little things needed to be spelled out in an event, such as only one list, games will be played in your city until the finals, etc. Also since he has never done any kind if tournament style missions, he tried to come up with his own fair version of missions. I corrected this and we came up with very simple layered missions (primary, secondary, etc). Also there is an actual play-offs. After the six rounds/weeks there will be a two person semi-final for each store to determine the store champ. Then both champs will play. Which I think is great considering you don't get punished for having a bad week of dice or miss a game as the top 2 from each store will have a chance to play in the finals.
  12. Good points, it should be made more clear I suppose. The intent is when you find out your opponent for the week, you schedule a game. Then you show up with one list for the game. If the players want to discuss possible army composition, that's up to them. Since both Medford and Grants Pass are rather small towns the players tend to know what armies the other has.
  13. And I assume he does mean yes in a unsarcastic way. You are indeed reading the rules correctly. My current salamanders list is a hq and 6 heavies in one detachment.
  14. Hey, no problem. Didn't mean for it to sound like "Buy the book you cheap bastard, stop pirating things" Keeping up with rules when you own 3+ armies is rough.
  15. Also the guy who is organizing it is brand new to this sort of thing and to 40k in general. He has good intentions, will try to make things work and will fix any problems. He did have 40k thrown on him by the owner (he loves it though) and is trying to build a community that is inclusive of all players, both casual and competitive. So yes, this league tournament has a loose feel to it but it's his first try with minimal help so keep that in mind.
  16. Considering I'm one of the two who will abuse the loosely written rules I can assure you it won't be that bad. Also if I face one if the less experienced people I really want to bust out orks if I can finish them. So the tournament/league is a 6 week event between the two Astral games locations in southern Oregon. With a champion from each store facing off in a final battle to determine the ultimate winner. The games will be using ITC mission packs (or at least they were last time I spoke to the TO when we planned it). Each week, players will have their opponents for the week and have the week to schedule and play the game. Each week, players can change their lists or even army. Tbo, their are not enough people with broken stuff to worry about. IK has knights that ,if both he and I are the champions of our towns, I'm sure I would have to plan for. I'm basically the only really competive player in my town, but I'm going to cater to the player base. Do I expect to win my city division? Yes. But I don't know about Medford and from what I've seen they are a pretty casual crowd. So I expect IK to be the shark there. Tl:Dr IK sign up, play, prevent me from winning it all.
  17. Yes, get the rulebook though. You might be missing a paragraph or two of important stuff.
  18. How much for the storm boyz and squads of 30 boys or all 200?
  19. Well 20 of them will be, assuming they don't increase the unit size. It's only a single unit and you can only cast a power once... I hope they get a point reduction though. Like 1 points would be great. It would shave 80 points off my list. :)
  20. So Morty will have a 3+/4++/4+++? Seems solid. Almost as good as Magnus and his 3+/3++ reroll 1's.
